Hello, How your having a nice weekend. I am working and running around like a crazy person. #FML Cancelled date, because have no time, enlist friends to help me run around as have too much to do - You know typical weekend, lol but is all good now. I still haven't bought a replacement tree for the back yard, but is OK, project is not moving forward because of the rain. But thank goodness it been raining. :D While out running errands over the past few days I did manage to find time to look over the plants and veggies. Prices are way, way up from last year. So thats how the weekend has been. I was looking forward to sleeping in Sunday morning but was up early. We were having a massive (yeah) thunderstorm. Much thunder and rain. So figured might as we get up and go to yoga.
Now I'm tired but feel so much better. Tuesday I'm in Austin for work so I'm going back to bed now. Happy almost St Patricks Day. Take care and talk soon- *WARNING* Picture Heavy Post Hola! Happy Thursday and hello World- I was poking around SnapFish today and chanced upon some more of my long lost Spain Pictures. Hurray! These are from a cruise we took to Spain from Galveston, Texas, USA in 2011. It was a 15 day cruise, I think, and I will blog about that part later. We disembarked in Barcelona where we stayed for approx. 10 days. The 1st two were in a hotel and then the next 7 were in a holiday apartment or Gite. I have a few more picture of the Sagrada Familla to share. The Church is so large and is different from every angel that you could spend days just looking at it. The Sagrada Familla - in English - "The Basilica and Expiatory Church of the Holy Family", is a large Roman Catholic church in Barcelona, Spain, designed by Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí (1852–1926). Although incomplete, the church is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and thousands of people visit it every day. Construction of Sagrada Família began in 1882 and Gaudí became involved in 1883, when he took over the project. Work still continues on this massive church today. And they do hold services inside. Plans, drawing from the museum. View from our Gite terrace. Our lovely Gite. I found it on line and was very pleased with the location and price. :D We also visited the Park Guell in Barcelona. The park was originally part of a commercially unsuccessful housing site, the idea of Count Eusebi Güell, after whom the park was named. If you want to read more about my adventures the 1st post is here. Its mostly a story and very few pictures, lol It was a long, fun day. Headed back to the gite for a good nights sleep before we ventured off to see more. Catch you later- Hola! How are things? Hope all is well. I'm working on my upcoming trip to Europe. There is so much planning left to do! We are getting off the ship in Bareclona and I'm looking for the perfect place to stay. Its no secret that Barcelona is not one of my fav places, but I am willing to give it another try. These are photos I took in 2011. In 2011 we sailed into Barcelona from Texas, USA. The ship docked and we took a tour offered by the cruise line to see the sites. It was nice, but places were jam packed. I have about 1,000 more pictures, but they are all gone now. #FML So I guess I MUST RETURN. Anyway..Wiki it if you need to know more about Barcelona, k? Now I will tell you the story I mentioned onDayre. When we were done the XXL touring coach (& all the other touring coaches from other city tours) dropped us ALL in the center of the city and we were on our own. #Yeah! Let the Adventures begin and it did.. So image a Extra LARGE group of (mostly American) tourists all jammed up together. We had been on the cruise 15 days so TONS of luggage. Cabs were lined up and it was madness as we unloaded our bags from the coach and got sorted. I walked over to a cab and began to talk in Spanish and he said, "Wait." So I was like ok, maybe this is not how you hail a taxi here. NOTE: Hailing taxi is different in every city, so it would not surprise me. I began to walk away. He came after me and explained to me that they do not speak Spanish in Barcelona, they speak Catalan. I was surprised... "WHAT?" and as I recovered, I asked why are YOU speaking to me in Spanish then? He laughed and said he was from Argentina. So I laughed and spoke to him in English. (Which he of course understood, lol) So we had bonded and he said he would take us to our hotel. So we follow him to the back of his car and put in our 3 bags. (2 people staying 6 months in Europe people, learn how to fucking pack. They have washing machines.) by now the jam has grown worse and bags, people, taxis are everywhere. We are in cab now, ready to leave and a large woman appears in front of us on the street. She is hauling bags into the road...WTF? I guess she is hoping to snag a taxi this way?? She has like 11?? They are the cloth bags not Rimowa; which I guess if she paid that much for luggage she would not be throwing them in the dirty street?? She is now blocking the entire lane with bags. WTF? There is major traffic now as some people have found taxis. Luckily we are next to pull out. Cabby moves up & honks for her to move...she looks up and ignores him, walks back to sidewalk and grabs yet another case and throws it in the road. WTF? He inches up...rolls down window and honks again...motions for her to move bags outta the lane. She ignores him. He looks at me like WTF? Do I have any clue what she is doing? I shake my head, because I don't have any idea what she is trying to do. (Make a road block?? Highjack passing cab? Have a sidewalk sale in middle of the road? The Fuck?) Meanwhile Traffic is whizzing by at a fast pace. She looks like typical soccer mom from US, by the way. She has bad skin, is over weight, pissed off and apparently crazy. He honks at her again.. She ignores us and the fact we are blocked in. So what does the taxi do? He pulls out and runs over her luggage. x ___ x And yells, "Vaca!" At her. Do you know enough Spanish to recognize the word? It means COW. Since he said it in Spanish I knew he was pissed. We made record time to the hotel and he apologized to me for the time it took. I tipped well and fled. * ___ * Moral of this story? Don't pack 11 bags and throw them in the street. But if you do...move them outta the cabs way. Don't be a cow... :x We stayed 2 nights in a hotel and then 7 days in a Gite downtown. More of those adventures later... OMG there were MORE Things... Me in the Gite. This time I want to stay closer to the beach. (And not take cabs.) See, doesn't it look nice? I'm off for a jog (so I don't look like a vaca) and then to work. See you at the airport- “We can't be afraid of change. You may feel very secure in the pond that you are in, but if you never venture out of it, you will never know that there is such a thing as an ocean, a sea. Holding onto something that is good for you now, may be the very reason why you don't have something better.”
― C. JoyBell C. Hi, Hope you are having a wonderful weekend. I am, thanks. :D In between the massive rain/thunderstorms and equally massive naps this weekend I did venture out to take some pictures of the wildflowers. They are just beginning, so its still pretty sparse. 2 3 4 Its kinds odd, there is very little grass, a few weeds and the flowers. But we had freezing temps just a few days ago too. So maybe not that odd? IDK 5 I took these with my Fufi camera and there is no edit. Aren't they pretty and bright? 6 oppss, forgot to list the name...We call them Indian Paintbrushes. Google for Native American legend of Indian Paintbrush. Is quite nice story. 7 8 Grasshopper eye view. 9 Everyone has to supervise me. Are you mocking me? Click here if you want to hear the same kinda bird in a tree shrieking, err I mean churping. 11 12 13 14 15 So bright they almost glow. WTF? 16
This is not a wildflower either, but it is begging to bloom too, so I added it. Actually they are some kinds odd roses that make a bush and climb/take over like mad. Pretty for about 5 days, look like HELL the rest of time. #Fail I think the blue bonnets will start blooming after all this rain. I shall do my best o take more pictures when they do. Now I'm gonna take another nap. Catch you later- Hello and Happy Weekend! Hope yours is going well. I suppose mine started early Friday morning, because I didn't even fake going into work, lol. I got up early and went for a run, came back home and regrouped. Which is a nicer way of saying I showered. Then headed out to run errands and do some shopping. I really know how to party, right? The country side is looking more like Spring now and less like Winter. The flowers are beginning to bloom and the cows look happy, too. I went to Office Depot for ink and supplies. And YES, I bought some more KCUPS for the office. They actually had a good assortment. I have been really good about sticking to a healthier diet since Valentines day. Mostly because I have been so busy I don't have time to eat, WTF?! Most of my lunches lately have been at my desk and feature a Kind bar and bottle of water. #Win The weather was nice and I had some free time so I wanted something more. I haven't been to Chili's in ages and decided to give it another go. Last time was not so good. :( I called Vanessa to see if she could join me, but she was up the road in San Antonio stuck in a meeting. So it's just you and me dear reader. There was a time when (I was very young) I could not make myself go in or eat alone at a cafe. I just hated that moment when you walk in and all the people look up and stare. Well those days are long gone. I just stare right back with a "WTF are you looking at asshole?" look and go on about my business. The perks of aging I guess. You get comfortable being yourself. Good thing too since the place was jam packed. I guess because it's spring break at some of the uni's? Plus all the oil field workers too. I ordered a bean burger (Which I'm not even sure is on the menu, I can never find it and have to ask WTH?!) Hide the veggie options? IJDK...shakes head. BUT It was MUCH better than it looked. I was so full when I left I wanted to just go home and nap. zzzz zzzz zzz zzzz But I pushed on, went to a few shops. I also looked at a few trees for the backyard and found nothing I wanted. And from there to the market (Where everyone else in Texas was.) There are always so many people at the market. It never matters what day or time I go. I guess because we all gotta eat? lol The produce was looking really good even though I was still full from Chili's. And its a good thing too, because Rick called and he was about to board a plane for Texas. Yikes! Must go home and clean. I "cooked" raw veggies for supper and Got RIck squared away. It was a good night. :D Saturday a.m. was a little slower paced. lol We woke up to rain and dropping temps. So I dropped by the office with tacos and see what I had missed. The answer? Much work waiting for me on my desk. No surprise there, ate my tacos and left, lol We discussed going to *SXSW this weekend, but have pretty much talked ourselves out of it. Neither of us wanted to fight the crowds or the traffic. *"South by Southwest (SXSW) is a set of film, interactive, and music festivals and conferences that take place every spring (usually in March) in Austin, Texas, United States. It began in 1987, and has continued to grow in size every year. " According to Wiki. For most people its just a giant party and excuse to see your fav artist and act like an ass. Solution? Stay home and chill this weekend! Sounds boring right? But boring is good sometimes. Catch you later- Hi,
Happy Friday. It's going to be a busy weekend. 🎉👍 I was out roaming around the other day & this Bird was making so many different sounds. Sirens, squirle sounds, damn MONKEY SOUNDS 🙊 crazy. By the time I remembered I could video with my phone he had settled down, some. Can You hear the bird? He's at the very top of the brown tree. He is sooooo loud. Did you know it's illegal to kill a mocking bird in Texas? Now you know why it comes up in conversations so much. They are very, Very territorial and will chase cats, other birds, squirrels & sometimes people away. They also make some of the craziest sounds. It also the state bird of Texas. Talk soon- “The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.” – Chinese Proverb Hi and Happy Almost Weekend- I took a break the other day and priced trees for the back yard. The tree that just fell (sniff, am still so sad its gone) was really huge and MADE the back yard. It was a gorgeous 70 + year old pecan tree. It stood tall and stately with lots of shade and tasty pecans. :( Read about the BIG Job its turning into removing that poor tree here. The pecan trees don't grow SUPER fast so gardener suggested I replace with another type of tree. Either faster growing or already big. I said I would think about it. I of course, I want another pecan tree. #IFightChange We have an odd area at work that could use some trees too. But at this price I don't know. With us leaving for the summer I'm gonna have to trust someone to make sure they are watered and cared for in the blazing heat....or just more money wasted. :X
In the end I didn't purchase anything. I shall go to a nursery the next town over soon and price their trees. Perhaps they will have a nice pecan tree that wants to live by the soon to be new and improved koi pond. Do you have a favorite tree? Or a type you have always wanted to grow? I would love to put in fruit trees too. But the climate is not always nice to them. Catch you later- Bonnne soirée toute le monde. (Picture sent to me from buddy & I'm sure he found on line; credit to its creator.) Have a great evening - Hey All! How are things? Busy here, as per the norm. Two of my friends are going to Italy this year (yeah!) and have asked me for advice. That's why I have posted a few (dozen) hotels and gites on Pinterest lately. I always tell my friends to go to holiday letting UK and start there. You can find anything and in any price range. I have booked through the site countless times and have always been happy with my stays.
They aren't hotels (well sometimes there might actually be one listed) but are mainly homes, condos, guest houses, apartments and villas. They also have unusual places like houseboats and campers, if you are looking for something very different. Who wants to stay in a hotel when you can rent an entire VILLA? They are usually much more affordable and you get a better picture of what life is like in the area vs just the tourist stuff. #MyOpinion So do check them out. I'm currently looking at villas in Spain and there are some sweet deals! See you at the airport-
