What a Crazy Week it's Been! Was at work until very late most of the week. Tuesday night had the Krewe over. Good to catch up with everyone. :) But it was super late when everyone left. No pictures because I forgot I had a camera, WTF?! Then... a Road trip to the beach Thursday. :) For a long weekend, but it was cut short. + it rained the whole time & turned cold...But we still had fun. Also explored another of the old Missions. Will post more about this over the next few days. These roses are so bright red they are crazy. I didn't edit or filter them at all. So bright it hurts your eyes to look at them, well all most. Really wanted to do some shopping for the trip next week. But there was really no time and then I wasn't in the mood cause I was so tired. The storm came in, rained like HELL and the temp. dropped to low 50's! No one was prepared. Then we had to cut the trip short and come back home. :(
Just got a couple of pretty make up bags. I love boxes, bags & containers. Weird, huh? Ok, enough of the week in review. It was dull expect when it wasn't (WTF) Driving in pouring rain & high wind wasn't that fun. We actually got lost (My fault, I was using IPHONE Map) and ended up at a small personal airstrip. I was like, "Just drive down the runway. It's on the map." NO ONE else thought we should. WTF? Sissies! There weren't any planes even. I should have been taking pictures of THAT and the awesome houses surrounding the airstrip. But we were on private property and all. LOL they had cute mini donkeys too! But once again, nobody but me wanted to get out and pet them....I just don't know about those women. Ok, gotta run.. Why do people keep sending me odd questions. This should answer the important stuff. (Tigers & shoes) lol Always Tigers and shoes...
PB & J? Sure. If you could have either a pet monkey or a pet tiger, which would it be? Hands down, the tiger. Favourite movie quote? Movie: Star Wars "Use the Force Luke." Or oh wait I have sooo many What is your style? (way you dress etc) Depends on what I'm doing. If you had 1,000,000 dollars, what would be the first thing you bought? tough one. Hmm probably house in Paris Favourite song of all time? wish you were here, Pink Floyd If you were in a band, what would it be called? Dragons Breath (?) Favourite game? (computer) bejeweled (not a gamer, lol) What scares you more than anything? Not being there for the people that need me. Most horrible scene in a film? Child hurt or a rape. Ever have a bad accident? Yep, survived it! How many pairs of shoes do you own? OMG! 50 + (I did get rid of some) Be tickled or be slapped? I pity the fool who would try to slap me lol Do you have a celebrity you really fancy? Why yes... What sort of slippers do you have? N/a barefoot always If you could live in any country, which would it be? France Single most painful experience of your life? My husband dying Most embarrassing moment? when I was young I was very shy, so that would be all of my childhood, lol Worst thing you have ever done? telemarketing (you did mean job, right?) Ever had to break bad news to anyone? Yes Well that ended on a depressing note. But I'm a happy person..really! This is probably the question I get asked the most. 2nd is "How do I start my own business?" Actually the answer is the same to both: You have to want to. Travel has always been important to me. I wanted to see the world, go places I read about, try new foods, listen to new music and see how other people lived. So I always tried to travel. Short road trips, mini vacations, and adventures with family and friends. I researched where I wanted to go, talked with people, read books, and surf the net of course. I read travel blogs and blogs from people that live in the area I want to visit. You learn MORE that WAY than from a site trying to sell you something. Listen to what the people are typing/talking about on these. Is there a lot of crime? Is the food over priced or they complaining of horrible weather and bad government? Go to twitter and instagram and look at what pictures people are posting and what they are tweeting about in that area. Or just go blind, if that’s your thing, that’s ok too. For me as a woman, sometimes traveling alone, I like to have MORE information than less. I have been to most places in the United States. Places I really like I go back often. Other places just didn't appeal to me..No judgment, once again. Everybody is different. So.. #1. Is deciding where you want to go and how much you can afford. Then save, research and plan (or not) and make it happen. *Just like starting a business! Easy Peasy! #2. Money and fear are the two big reason people don't travel. "Don't go there, they HATE Americans!" I heard that a lot (from Americans) because that is what the TV tells them. Most people I have encountered, both in the US and elsewhere, will treat you well if you are behaving properly. By that I mean (This is one of my pet peeves, so you may want to leave now) Do not act like an idiot. Do not expect people to cater to you, do not expect to be loud and rude and get good service. Do not act like the fat American tourist who is loud, dressed horribly, has too many cases and wants to see Europe (all of it) in a week, Do not expect things to be like they are at home. Because it is NOT the same everywhere, even though the TV tells us this too. So find out what is proper attire for the area you are visiting, pack a Reasonable amount of luggage *that you can handle & carry; and be considerate of other people. Do this and be smart (READ about the place before hand) ask polite questions & do not believe everything you see on TV and you will do fine. This is Texas. Pretty, huh? And not what you would expect. It’s not all a desert. I didn't edit or filter this picture at all. :) I do apologize for the bug or two that hit windshield, marring the view. But that's life, right? Ok back to my travel rant... Money. (This is another pet peeve of mine.) I quickly realized that for what I spent on a week in a crappy hotel on the Gulf Coast I could sail to Europe. WTF! Now that’s not the return trip, BUT do your research and look at B &B's and staying in small towns versus cities. Also holiday houses and Gites over pricey hotels you might be very surprised. Hotwire has some great prices, too. Watch the airline prices also. The prices vary a great deal. If you can travel off peek & are flexible you can save a bundle.
Ok I guess I should include staying in a hotel is not high on my list. I would rather stay in an apartment, cook my own meals, shop and eat where the locals do. I like a washing machine (I can take fewer clothes, = less bags) and see stuff off the beaten path, not just tourist stuff by talking to the locals around me. I'm not a big fan of going on vacation and eating at MCD's either...But some people need that continuity. So ok, no judgment. I do eat at Subway everywhere I travel to at least once. Other than that I'm in the markets, neighborhood restaurants, pubs and cafes trying the lunch specials. lol *Saves a lot of money this way. So this is a long rambling post about how I travel. I hope it gave you some ideas and inspired you to plan a trip. So why are you inside? Go out and see the world! What’s up with people? Have you been out today? OMG?! Traffic is insane, people are being irrational and appear to be asleep or either VERY angry?!? And that was just on my way to work? Have the Zombie Plague started? Where's my tin foil hat & Crossbow? :O Thank goodness all those years on the cell phone has rearranged my brain waves, you too, right? So we should be somewhat safe. Lol ----But Things will get better.... Just stay inside today, if you can. Really. I'm road tripping tomorrow with Ms Y, so I advise you to be off the highways then too. See ya! So am trying to walk more, so won't be exhausted on trip. In France I walk everywhere in Texas we walk no where. Ever... (Could it be because of the heat or the deadly wildlife? Your guess is as good as mine.) So anyway, am walking the neighborhood & eating less because I'm too lazy to cook. #Truth So my usual breakfast is replaced by a healthy shake. You can use any kind of milk, too. I really cannot taste the coconut when I mix it all together, but this was what was handy. It does have a slight vitamin taste, but not super strong. The Strawberries help with that, I think. It's pretty thick too, like a real shake. I buy it on Amazon, if you are interested. And then, with my burst of new found energy.... Was looking for another bag to take on a upcoming road trip & found 10Euros inside a bag. Yeah! Love to find cash! Its not THAT much I know, but anything that is coming in, not going out..is positive right now. Did I mention it's tax day? :( Maybe it was because I was wearing my lucky purple jewlery? Haha it's big & funky & I love it. (thats a ring laying by the choker, BTW) I guess the collar looks ok on me, I wear it a lot, just change the pendant out. One of my friends bought one the other day, so maybe we are starting a new trend. LOL
Ok, back to work now, I have a ton of stuff to do and we are headed to the coast Thursday for a long weekend. Yeah, so excited! Talk soon~ That was a really lame title, but "OH GOD IT'S HOT & MY TAXES ARE DUE TOMORROW & LIFE SUCKS" just doesn't have the same ring to it. :( I don’t know why, but I always get really crazy before a trip. Like I need to paint the shed, re-shingle the roof, clean out the fish ponds, redo gardens, ect..WTF? I'm not even going to be gone that long, this trip. But anyway...My PLAN for Sunday was to stay home, work on yard, complete some small projects and relax after a long week. *Sparkle* Perfect Sunday 80% Humidity why did I shower? Pollen falling like rain from trees....cough, cough and the weather is going to be CRAZY this week..?? Luckily, I had plenty of help working on the larger pond....And the phone would not stop ringing and people saw I was home, so popped on over to visit.... So I have to pick up my taxes from the CPA Monday. So lets think about happy things, not writing check to the IRS Having problems with my Toshiba now. *Note this is not a Happy Thought :o (I was trying system maintenance and anything else I could think of...but it is still freezing up and not loading or doing anything.) I wanted to blog about Paris, not my stupid Taxes! Grrr~ or the weather Grrr or my computer crashing. (Writing this from MacBook, but no want to jinx it!) shhhh Talk soon~
Really Random Day... Hung out with my nephew today. Haven't really seen him much lately. He recently moved back to this part of Texas. My brother is a lot older than I am, so my nephew is a grown man. (Although I still think of him as a kid, lol) So we went shopping, ran errands and had lunch together. It was really nice. This is what he wanted for lunch...ewww! I did not eat that, of course. I had tacos, but won't bore you with a picture of my bean & cheese taco. I wanted to buy a few plants for the front flower beds...No, I did not buy a Palm tree. But I do like them. So it was a really random day...
But was really nice to spend some time with him and catch up. Busy week ahead....talk soon! Hello! I was so tired when I woke up this morning I was wishing for someone to make me a cup of coffee and pour it into my mouth, because I did not think I could move! Been so busy at work and with home projects that I am exhausted. But move I did. I even found time to visit Ms Y and her husband just back from Ecuador. They were so sweet as to bring me back this SUPER soft cape jacket! SO PRETTY! AND AND And a really nice knitted scarf in pretty purple. Isn't this too cute! Super nice of them to think of me! No one realizes how beautiful it is to travel until he comes home and rests his head on his old, familiar pillow. ~Lin Yutang They had a really interesting time. Ms Y became ill the first day and was in bed until the day before they left! The doctor came to their hotel twice and she was diagnosed with Altitude sickness, meaning her body could not tolerate the higher altitude. (They were staying in a town at the foot of the Andes Mountain range) She said that she had never had that kind of problem before, as she had been to Aspen, Colorado and also been to various places in the mountains of Japan. *(She used to live there.) But these things can come out of nowhere. She said her blood pressure went up, she had horrible headache and was sick to her stomach - just really an awful feeling. Then she had nose bleeds- OMG! Feel so bad for her! So they didn't get to do 1/2 of the stuff they had planned. :( (Yet, she still found time to get me such sweet gifts, awwwe) So maybe with the right meds she might be able to return, but at this point she is not thinking so. She is not a fan of taking medication so.... :( NO! She did say everyone in the hotel, the Doc and all they people they ran into were super nice and ready to help. Things were cheaper than in Texas, but were not as cheap as some people would have you believe. Her husband has been to most places in South America and he really liked Ecuador the best. But there are still many wonderful places left in the world to explore. And speaking exploring... One of my buddies from NOLA called me today and was giving me the full schedule for Sunday, this Sunday. Down to the last detail. I was like ok, don't know why, but ok. I listen and concur, "pretty busy one, you."
(My cajun kicked in lol) They: "Then like, um well, will that work? " Me: "Um K, Work with what, man?" They: "You have ride down to Quarter, I no pick you up, Cher? Or do I need?" Me: "K, I have way, man, No sweat." They: "What time your plane land, you?" Me: "HUH? Be Early one" They: "Uh-huh, Um how early one?" Me: ????? They: Silence ME: LAUGHS ASS OFF - "Really early one, in 10 days" HAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHA They: "NO Shit?! you not here Dimanche????!!!!! Thank GOD! I so busy, Cher. I throw all in river for you, Cher, but um that better one." So then one of my other friends viber me, with her schedule. She thought it was MONDAY! LOL I am reeking havoc in New Orleans and I haven't even arrived yet. LOL hahahhaah :) Picked up another pair of cute shoes & new shades today for the NOLA trip. The thing I always over pack is shoes. But changing shoes can really change the look of an outfit, right? So whats one more small pair? I like all roses except yellow, they look sickly to me. These are soo pretty! The pictures do not so them justice at all. And one last things...
