This has been a interesting Challenge. I've tried to stay on top of it and also be more open about my life. I'm traveling today - so lets do a catch up - If you missed any posts you can find them here: Day 1 September Goals Day 2 Day 2 Blog Challenge Day 3 Favorite Fashion Trend - Bold Jewelry Day 4 Thankful Thoughts Day 5 Blogging Challenge Update Day 6 6 Things I’m Looking Forward To In Fall Day 7 7 Things I Need to Improve Day 8 8 Things I Am Currently Loving Day 9 Todays Outfit Day 10 Make a Wish Day 11 Day In The Life of Ms One World Day 12 Fav Travel Quotes Day 13 Top Guilty Pleasures Day 14 Ideas? Day 15 Current Fav Television Shows Day 17 10 Things That Make Me Happy Day 19 -Happiness is... Day 20 - Traveller By Choice Will update the missing links asap. This is a tough one, cause I really don't feel guilty about much. I work hard and live my life the way I want so I'm not really guilty about anything. #TrueStory I don't "cheat" as a vegan. I eat 80/20 healthy, plant based. I don't consume sugar, drink or smoke. I haven't had a Starbucks in so long I can't remember when?! So yep, I'm pretty boring and not guilty at all. Probably my number one guilty pleasure right now is too much online shopping. But its my money and I work hard for it...so I'm not guilty at all. Lately I've been buying winter clothes, art supplies, vegan make up, stuff for the new house and of course stuff for my son. Even though this kinda counts as online shopping, subscription boxes are another of my weaknesses. I'm currently receiving Vegancuts, Sketchbox, and Fab Fit Fun + add ons and up-sells on all of them. I stopped the beauty mask monthly box just because I wasn't using the masks fast enough. Now that I'm about out of masks I will restart that subscription. So compared to most people I know, thats not many at all. My TBR (To Be Read) pile of books is getting pretty low... so I'm not feeling guilty about that at all. If anything I feel like I need to make an effort to find more books. #Yikes! And you? What are your guilty pleasures? Are you overspending or over indulging? Or are you like me and not guilty about it? Tune in tomorrow as the blogging challenge continues~ Today's blogging challenge - My Outfit I was off work today, but it was a busy day running errands. I wore a long maxi dress, black sandals and carried a large black vegan bag. The dress is new, easy to care for cotton and very breathable in the late summer heat. I wish I had bought 6 of them! But I never know when buying maxi dresses online if they will be long enough. It is a problem finding a size medium that is the right length. I'm 5'9 and most of it is in my legs, lol. My accessories were kept to a minimum, just a lovely over sized moonstone and silver cuff. My friend that just past away bought it for me several years ago as a birthday gift, making it even more of a treasure. The weather is still unpredictable, but it turned into a nice sunny day. Later that evening we had a lovely dinner with friends on the patio. It was a prefect day! Hope your Sunday was good as well.
Tune in tomorrow for the next random blog challenge post! The blog challenge continues. Read past posts here, if you need to catch up. Today I am sharing 8 things I am currently loving. These are not linked or sponsored. Just my personal finds that I use everyday and love. If you visit here often or follow me on Twitter you know I love tea! And I love trying new organic, eco-sourced products. This month I'm drinking Root Chakra Tea. Buddha Teas are not the cheapest teas, nor the most expensive, but they are some of the best. I want to say I paid about $6.50 for a box? I love this small travel toothbrush from FFF. I picked it up as an add-on and love it! Its compact and super soft. It came with three, instead of two brush heads. I honestly have no idea what I paid, but I know it wasn't over $20-$25? I am also loving the Essential Oxygen organic toothpaste and brushing rinse. I have been using the brushing rinse for over a year, but had a lot of Earthpaste stocked piled. #TrueStory - When I find a product I like I purchase a supply of it. #NOTaHoarder I promise. Once I used it all, I bought the EO toothpaste to try. Now I really love it too. The Toothpaste is only $8.09 on Amazon and the brushing rinse is $10.27. I'm also so loving this Acure scrub and Nelson Hair Mask. I use both while soaking (and reading) in the tub, for a wonderful and relaxing afternoon. The hair mask really helps tame my thick locks and makes my hair super silky. I love all of the Acure products! I finished off my last tube of facial scrub and decided to try this one with Sea Kelp. I'm so glad I did! Also on my list: Pacifica Dreamy Youth Day and Night Face Cream, which I also bought on Amazon for around $15USD. I not sure, but I think that was the subscription price? After using it a week I knew I wanted to try it our for several months, so I quickly added it to my monthly subscriptions. It is amazing and so light weight. In this crazy summer heat you don't want a heavy cream on your face, making you sweat even more. I have been using it for about three months now and am very pleased. It's not greasy at all and is easily absorbed into the skin. + Like all Pacifica products it is cruelty-free and vegan. #WIN My last item is a couple of pens I received in a Sketchbox monthly subscription box. I am drawing more and am so pleased to try out new, professional grade products.
So how many is that?
Join me tomorrow for the next challenge post. I haven't been reviewing any boxes lately because I actually figured you were tired of seeing the same old thing....but I did get a Spring Fab Fit Fun box in and some really awesome Vegan snacks though and thought I would share. Are you like me and love mystery subscription boxes? It's really nice getting something other than junk mail or bills in the post, lol. So here is what I received in March: There were a few items I didn't really care about and a few that were not vegan so I donated, but for only $49.99 I still feel like I got my money's worth. I will probably go ahead now and purchase a yearly subscription. You save $20 by doing this and get first pick on "add ons". If you want to try and a box (and save some money too!) use this link: SAVE You get $10 off your 1st box! (This is my 3rd box!) It works out to right around $200USD worth of stuff...and almost ALL of it is full size, so you get to actually try the products out. The Vegan Cuts box is $22.95 (including shipping) - it goes down in price if you buy a 6 month or year sub. There are always at least 10 and sometimes 15 products inside. I didn't take many pictures, because at the time I wasn't planning on posting a review. UH OH....but yeah you get the idea right? I have been getting this box for over 2 years and it only gets better each month. #WIN And not from a box (but notice my new candle, lol) I have been eyeing these marble trays for some time. I finaily broke down and bought one. I love it and have no idea why I waited so long! So what boxes do you get? Are there any good ones I should check out? Leave me a comment - I'm always looking to try new products and find cool, vegan or off beat stuff.
Once again save $10 off your first FFF box here and enjoy your weekend! See you at the airport~
3..2..1..It's Monday!
How can the weekends fly by so fast? I know, its because so much happens in such a short time, right? Hope your weekend was good. I actually worked all weekend long. Friday was a twenty hour day at the office. #Yikes and Yes, I said 20 hours. #FML We have a big launch going on and are beginning new projects too, so it's really crazy. I mean long hours and lots of work. On the bright side the boss, (Aka ME) buys lots and lots of Pizza for everyone! #Win
When not eating pizza at work, I have been trying to eat healthy. I have a smoothie or smoothie bowl every morning for breakfast and a bowl of greens before falling into bed. I actually have lost more weight, I don't have a scale but I was going through old clothes the other day, looking for something suitable to paint in and put on a pair of pants I have not been able to wear in 5 years.
So it just goes to show you can eat as much as you want (and eat WELL) and still lose weight. I have vegan nice cream, loaded with nuts and healthy toppings everyday.
Of course I also binge on Greens and not chips or cookies.
Did you know Brussel Sprouts were so good for you? They are an excellent source of vitamin C and vitamin K. They are also a very good source of nutrients including folate, manganese, vitamin B6, dietary fiber, choline, copper, vitamin B1, potassium, phosphorus and omega-3 fatty acids. People say they taste like cabbage, but I don't think so. I used to either boil them or cut them in half and roast them in the oven, but I discovered you could eat them raw! So I am super lazy, after a long day - I make a big bowl and fall into bed to watch anime and munch on them before passing out.
There really hasn't been anything on lately I wanted to watch, so I'm back to anime. I did just watch Altered Carbon this month and really enjoyed it. What did you think?
Some people loved it and others were lost. I like SCFI so even though it was learning new lingo, (how many sleeves did that lady have??) I thought it was a good watch.
I am also doing my best to mask and hydrate before bed. All this cold weather has us running the heater nonstop and it's pulling all the moister out of the air. Even though I live with a water bottle in each hand, this can really dry out your skin.
Have a great week and see you at the airport!
So how is your week going? We are enjoying the rain today! It's been awhile (maybe a month?) since the last real rain. It's not cold enough presently to snow, but the rain is more than welcome. People here do not often drive in the rain, so it's the best time to go to the market or get errands done. But actually the pull to stay home and call in sick is strong, lol (I'm acting like a local, lol) In my defense I have new makeup to try and a pile of books to read, lol. I was planning on taking a break from purchasing both this month, but that didn't last a week! #FML I'm not a fan of reading about wars. So it doesn't interest me and I do not know enough about the history to know what is satire and what is fiction. But I will do a full review soon of this book, plus the other two I've read this month. And yes, I did go out in the rain. From what I understand, the after-the-rain smell is actually a complex equation. See the smell changes based on the acidity of the rain. Because of chemicals in the atmosphere, rainwater tends to be somewhat acidic, especially in urban environments. Have you noticed different cities smell differently? When rain comes in contact with organic debris or chemicals on the ground, it can cause some particularly aromatic reactions. It breaks apart soil and releases minerals trapped inside, and it reacts with chemicals, such as, I don't know, say petrol and this changes the scent, too. These reactions generally produce more unpleasant smells than bacteria spores, which is why the after-the-rain smell isn't always pleasant. But just like the smell caused by spores, the smell of chemical reactions is most noticeable when it rains following a dry spell. Since it does not rain often here, normally the scent is very distinct and took some getting used to. (I burned a lot of scented candles in the beginning.) Another after-the-rain smell comes from volatile oils that plants and trees release. The oil then collects on surfaces such as rocks, which we have plenty of. The rain reacts with the oil on the rocks and it becomes a gas. This scent is one that most people consider to be a pleasant, fresh smell. It has even been bottled and sold! The after-the-rain smell in the UK and EU is different from the smell after the rain in south Texas, Washington state or Florida. So it's crazy when you talk about the after-the-rain smell with someone else, you may mean one thing while your friend is thinking of something else entirely. Speak soon!
My Fit Fab Fun Winter Box arrived today! I was surprised that the add ons also shipped with it. From what I had read on line it sometimes takes weeks for them to ship (and to not worry, they are in transit) so I was pleasantly surprised. I will review the box fully in a day or two, but I can tell you now that I was happy with it. Catch you later! Okay this is an update to this post on Oct 11, 2017 and this post on the 24th. I ordered the Editor's Box from Fab Fit Fun and it was damaged and missing some items. See those dates for the full review and see below to read about my customer service experience. 1st here was the box I received. I can tell you as a business owner mistakes happen, but it's how you deal with them that counts. I contacted Customer Service and let them know about the problems (this post) - I also read more reviews about this brand. More than 3/4 were not good. Oh NO! But I also know that most people only review when they are mad... so I kept an open mind. I also spoke to a friend of mine who has been a happy customer for more than a year and she RAVES about how nice the items are and how great the sales are. She assured me that they would fix the problems. Guess what? They did! I received a replacement of the oil that spilled and today this was in the post. The missing sheet masks! So this was the basic conversation I had with my friend about the experience:
Her: "Did they fix the problem?" Me: - Yes Her: "How much of a hassle was it to get it fixed?" Me: - A few emails and I sent pictures, so not bad. Her "Did you pay for shipping?" Me: - No, they covered shipping on all items. Her "Would your recommend this brand?" Me: -So far yes! I will let you know if I change that rating after I purchase a seasonal box. Look what just arrived! October's Mask Maven! And 1,000 points to them for embracing the Halloween theme! Check out these frightful cool masks! I received an email from them hinting at "Horror Masks" in a sneak preview, but honestly I promptly forgot all about them. I really love the variety of masks in these boxes. I had so many that even after I cleared all the non-Vegan ones I paused my subscription (which was super easy and hassle free) but am glad I was able to grab this months box.
I will let you know my favorite soon! See you at the airport~ |
