Hello there, How are you? I'm so glad you stopped by. I'm up late/early working on new videos and book reviews. I have so many ideas and possible directions for those hours and hours of footage I shot in September. What would you like to see? More nature and less talking or more of vlog type posts? Or something totally different? Let me know below. Tonight I plan on putting all these new ideas on paper. Do you have periods where you are super creative and other times when you can't think of a single thing to do? I've noticed I'm usually awake (and creating) more around the full moon. It feels like a big blast of creative energy flowing in and I want to take full advantage of this inspiration. So I stay up way too late and write, paint, edit and make lists. I also tend to try new recipes and cook more. I'm not motivated to do admin work or anything overly analytical during these few days each month. Sadly even journaling falls by the wayside unless its project related. Usually I have more of an issue around finding enough hours in the day to create, vs me looking for inspiration, but lately with us being away from home I haven't felt all that inspired. So I'm going to make another pot of tea and keep at it. It feels so good to be back in the flow!
Have a great weekend and be sure and subscribe to the YouTube channel for all the new adventures~ How are you feeling about 2022? I know it's too soon to tell, but here's to hoping it's a better year. I just hopped over to Goodreads and saw my yearly book stats. I will share some of them below. I often don't review books on the Goodread site, but write a quick non-spoiler review here or vice versa. If you are wondering about any book on my list, just leave me a comment and I will give you the skinny on it. I seem to like books in the 300-500 page range, over that and I feel kinda trapped by the book...unless it's really, really good. I did read a small 33 page one this year that ended way too soon. This year I read about:
I read for knowledge, entertainment, escapism, and to understand other people's outlook on the world. What are your favorite types of books? What makes them the best? I will be posting more in the coming months as I am working a bit less.
Hopefully, we can meet up here and discuss books, food, and other fun topics! Speak soon~ I hope you are having a fantastic week, but HOW IS IT DECEMBER already? I never put up the Halloween decorations so technically it's still September at my casa. Well, except for the cold weather.... I've been trying to clear all my old book reviews, old travel posts, recipes, and sorting pictures for blog posts this week. (So far I found a few really witty half-finished posts from 2018, LOL!)
Regardless, you can expect a blast of book reviews and other nonsense this month, dear reader. So stay tuned. Thank you for hanging out... I usually travel for my birthday, but today I just went for a hike and as I was driving back home it began to rain. Shortly afterwards, I was surprised with a lovely rainbow! When we first moved to New Mexico they were so common, but the last few years I have seldom seen one. So as its my birthday I took it as a good omen. That got me thinking...I wonder what rainbows symbolise in Native Cultures?
This is what I found: Native American beliefs about rainbows vary among different tribes. However, some common themes and interpretations can be found in certain tribes. 1. Navajo In Navajo mythology, rainbows are seen as the celestial pathway for the Yei, supernatural beings that connect the spiritual and physical worlds. The rainbow is considered a bridge between Earth and the spirit realm. 2. Hopi The Hopi people also view rainbows as bridges between worlds. They believe that spiritual beings who play a central role in Hopi religious life, use rainbows to travel between the spirit world and the Earth. 3. Cherokee In Cherokee beliefs, rainbows are seen as the hem of the sun's coat, and they are associated with the number seven, which is considered sacred. Rainbows are sometimes seen as a sign of balance and harmony in the world. 4. Lakota Among the Lakota Sioux, rainbows are sometimes associated with the Thunderbird, a powerful and mythical bird. The Thunderbird is believed to control the weather, including rain and storms. 5. Zuni The Zuni people see rainbows as a symbol of fertility and agriculture. Rain is essential for crops, and the appearance of a rainbow is seen as a positive sign for the success of agricultural endeavours. My research shows a lot of variation on beliefs around the rainbow, so it's important to note that these interpretations can vary widely, and individual beliefs may differ even within a specific tribe. What do rainbows mean for you? Hello and welcome to July! It's going to be a good month, I think. The parks are finally open here, so I went out early today for a run. It was AMAZING to be out and moving again. I have been running/walking around the neighborhood, but its great to be back on the park trails. The days are longer as we head deeper into Summer and I'm so ready! It's also warmer now, but we have the air con on and plenty of fruit, so bring on July adventures! In America July is a month of pool parties, BBQ's and road trips. I have done most of that already in June, but am looking forward to more downtime to visit and catch up with friends. (We still wear masks and social distance, but its great to be able to move around some and not be trapped inside.) - I have a couple of small road trips planned and hopefully time to just explore around here, weather permitting.
Hi Travel Family!
I hope everyone is safe and comfortable as we begin April. The sun is shining and its shaping up to be a gorgeous day here in New Mexico. I know isolation can be difficult, but we will make it through April and beyond. I have been 'nose to the grindstone', so to speak, working, writing and creating through most of the winter. I'm glad its spring, but it seems March just flew by. We have new projects taking off in April and May, (they do not require me to be 'social' other than posting or tweeting) and for that I am truly thankful. Work for me hasn't changed all that much. Working from home (or a holiday house) has been my gig for close to 15 years now. (I am as amazed as you are, as I write that!) But traveling has changed greatly...well you know. But it won't always be like this and this gives us time to dream up new adventures and study distant lands we want to explore. Maybe April will be a good month to update your travel bucket list? One of my friends in Scotland shared a nice list of places he wanted to visit and I admit to being impressed...I had never even heard of most of these places! Google here we come! But seriously, I know it's a rough time right now. But we can get through this. You are not alone. We are all in this together and together we make it through. Take care~ This has been a interesting Challenge. I've tried to stay on top of it and also be more open about my life. I'm traveling today - so lets do a catch up - If you missed any posts you can find them here: Day 1 September Goals Day 2 Day 2 Blog Challenge Day 3 Favorite Fashion Trend - Bold Jewelry Day 4 Thankful Thoughts Day 5 Blogging Challenge Update Day 6 6 Things I’m Looking Forward To In Fall Day 7 7 Things I Need to Improve Day 8 8 Things I Am Currently Loving Day 9 Todays Outfit Day 10 Make a Wish Day 11 Day In The Life of Ms One World Day 12 Fav Travel Quotes Day 13 Top Guilty Pleasures Day 14 Ideas? Day 15 Current Fav Television Shows Day 17 10 Things That Make Me Happy Day 19 -Happiness is... Day 20 - Traveller By Choice Will update the missing links asap. And the blogging challenge continues.. This is an easier post for me than some of the other topics in this daily blogging challenge. I'm very fortunate to have so much good in my life right now. It hasn't always been this way, but I do feel very blessed right now. Ten things that make me happy and/or I'm grateful for: #1 is of course my son. #2 Nature #3 Travel! #4 Plants! #6 FOOD! All the wonderful fruits and veggies! I'm so happy we get to eat healthy food everyday. #7 My friends! They are so cool, so supportive and are so crazy! They make me happy everyday. I feel so blessed!
See you tomorrow for the next post in the blogging challenge! Today was spent desperately searching through old notebooks and scrapes of paper to find some brilliant idea I had 5 years ago. 🙄 This daily blog challenge is kicking my ass! Where do you get your ideas and how often do you blog? Why did I think I could blog everyday? Shaking my head at myself over this one, I'm pretty sure I've never blogged a solid month ever! Plus it seems the last few years with me becoming busier and busier at work I'm blogging even less. #FML Well so much for inspiration from the past. I found nothing I wanted to write about. Screw this... I'm gonna make some tea and read.... Tune in tomorrow as I continue the daily blogging challenge and hopefully have something more exciting to write about, lol.
