Happy Tuesday!
I hope you have some wonderful plans for today. We are in for a super hot day with temps 104'F / 40C #YIKES! I used to like warm days...they were perfect for laying by the pool or on the beach - a thrilling science fiction novel in one hand and ice cold beer in the other. #GoodTimes But sun worshipping isn't "my thing" anymore. The older I get, the more I care about my skin and more importantly the damage the sun has already done. As someone who laid out in an attempt to tan my pale nordic body I woke up one day and thought, "Maybe it's too late?!" Meaning too much damage had been done. But you know I'm not one to just roll over and accept 'fate' - So now I'm on a mission to both protect my skin from any further damage and also turn back the clock. I'm currently doing some personal research on all things skincare. There have been so many scientific advances in the field of cosmetics and skincare lately that it can be very overwhelming...Where do you even start?
These are some of the best sellers on Amazon and over the course of the next few months I will be trying vegan products out and reviewing for you.
My current (body) sunscreen is Banana Boat Dry Balance Broad Spectrum Sunscreen Lotion, SPF 50. Gone are the days of greasy, oily sunscreen! This lotion drys to a nice matte finish and leaves your skin feeling silky smooth. I apply this before gardening, hiking or driving. You will need to reapply every two hours, but it is really working so far. (I've been using since about the 3rd of May.)
This post does continue affiliate links, and I may receive a small commission of any sales. I only promote the products I use/feel are good values for you. By clicking the link it doesn't change the price of the product, but it does helps to support the cost of the blog. (So thank you!)
Also thanks for stopping by and taking the time to read my posts. I have a few new book reviews that should be out this week and some new vegan recipes, so do stop in again. Speak soon!
Good morning!
It's a lovely sunny day here in New Mexico. After I shared my veggie haul people were asking me how I prepare the produce I bought, so I thought I would share some simple and tasty recipes over the course of the next few days. One SUPER easy and delicious recipe is: Petite Herbed Potatoes (Vegan, Simple, classic side dish)
Petite Herbed Potatoes are soooooo easy to make. They also make your kitchen smell wonderful!
These petite potatoes are amazing as is or you can serve with vegan sour cream. #OMG Let me know if you make these or are going to try the recipe. I'd love to hear how you liked them.
Catch you later~ **This post contains Affiliate links. I am paid a few pennies if you purchase anything via the link. It does not change the price for you at all and helps cover website costs. I also do not promote any product I do not use or love. Hi, I'm behind schedule today, so let's jump right in. I know what some other vegans are eating during the quarantine and it ranges from junk/comfort food to obsessive immunity builders, with lots of detox/cleanses thrown in for good measure. We went more "middle of the road" at my house. There is some vegan "junk" but also lots of greens and veggies. We really didn't change the way we ate all that much, expect for trying new things when the store was running low on food. Here is this weeks produce/food haul: I ended up with:
I haven't been posting many food pictures lately because we are eating the same old thing. I do make a desert about every other day though instead of weekly like normal. Catch you later~
Happy Wednesday! We woke up to a cooler morning today, a cold front had blown through in the middle of the night. It was a pleasant surprise except for all the wind playing havoc with my new seedings. I used to watch the weather (on several apps) when I was actually leaving the house, but nowadays I enjoy the surprise, lol. And speaking of surprises I was happily surprised with Pacifica having a 50% off sale. #score This isn't a sponsored post, I just really like this brand and thought I would show you my mini haul. Why I love this brand:
I have been using/buying Pacifica items from Amazon for a couple of years now and just recently started shopping from their website. This time I purchased: The Glow Work Energy Skin Love kit Mini Body Butter Coconut Power Shampoo Pollution fighting facials masks Coconut facial Wipes Coconut Pro Hair Masks As slow as the mail has become in USA over the last few months, I really didn't except to receive my order before May, but it arrived very quickly. I have been using the products and love each and every one!
All of this came to only $31.20 (including shipping in the USA) If you are looking for a healthy and ethical beauty brand, I would highly recommend Pacifica. Speak soon~ New Dresses, lol! Hi Travel Fam! April weather is perfect for shopping, lol Part of the fun of traveling is shopping for the trip. I found these new sundress the other day..next on the list is new sandals. The flowers and trees are in full bloom now and spring is finally here! See you at the airport!
Hi Travel Fam! How are you? It's been a crazy, busy, fun month, hasn't it? I hope you have been having some fun and travel adventures! I'm at home for a bit longer, but while I'm here we are eating well and trying new, amazing vegan recipes. I'm just back from the market and wanted to share my mini veggie haul. Spinach, Romaine Lettuce, Snow Peas, Bananas, Onions, Potatoes, Sweet Potatoes, Broccoli, Lemons, Zucchini, Tofu, Tomatoes, Oranges and avocados! Oh and Jalapeños peppers! I also bought frozen mango chunks, blueberries, cherries and strawberries for smoothies. I was still fixed pretty goood for beans, mushrooms, kale, carrots, limes and garlic. Do you have stuff you buy all the time? This is my normal mid-week shopping trip. But today the Jalapeños were on sale for something like .25 a pound! Pictured is approx. .45 cents worth lol. #Win Have a great weekend~
Hello ~ So I’m wondering, how do you feel about New Year’s resolutions? My 2017 resolution was to stop spending so much on printed books and working so much. I actually went on a book buying fast for several months in 2017 and cut way, way back in 2018. It was difficult because I so love books, but it is made easier when I think about having to either ship them or store them when we move again. And the working so much? Well, I have taken a bit more time off and am back to daily walks, which help me handle the stress a lot better. Just getting away from my desk and out in nature has made a big difference. I also vowed to eat better - which I'm still enjoying. :D
Some resolutions really change your life, others not so much. So for 2019 I am working on buying used books (cheaper and recycling is always a good idea) and also being picky about how many I keep. I'm going to continue eating the clean, veggie rich diet and make more time to travel. I think we may visit Sweden this year as well as some short trips in the US. So how about you? What are your resolutions and are you keeping them? Quick video of all the things I should have blogged about, but didn't lol.
Happy Holidays! Hi, Web Fam! It's another happy fall day! We are about to move from Autumn to winter and I'm pretty excited. We have only had slightly cooler temps, but I've used the fireplaces most nights. I don't know about you, but I'm so glad it "candle weather" again. You never fully appreciate the warmth of candles until you light them in July, lol. #Truestory I'm ready to go sweater shopping too. Want to come with? I have swapped out my summer wardrobe for fall/winter and realized I don't have enough soft sweaters or black jeans, lol. But that will have to wait, this weekend I'm staying in to catch up on some work and also get the house ready for the big cold storm heading our way. The temps are going to drop below freezing and I still have plants to move around and there is a possibility of snow and ice, for the next few days! But colder weather really does make it seem like the holiday season. I'm working on a blog post covering the best places for sights (and shopping) in Northern New Mexico during the winter months. So soon we are going to be exploring further a field. There are so many interesting things coming up in Santa Fe and the surrounding area I'd like to check out and share with you. So that's my weekend, hope you have a good one!
Hi!
It seems ludicrous to think I went on a "book buying fast" for most of the summer, doesn't it? I stayed away from Amazon (for books anyway) and did my best to avoid books stores, not that those really exist anymore. So just recently I've started shopping again. (You can read about the fall mini book haul here.) I held back, so it's a short post, lol. Part of my recent promise to myself has been to stop working so much and find time to do things I love. I have put so much on the back burner lately because of work, but now that I am taking time to read, make art and travel again I feel so much better! #WIN So far I've read two books from that mini haul.
The first book I read was this delightful book on Frida and Diego by Catherine Reef. This is a lovely book filled with the artists stories, photographs, history and art.
Frida and Diego by Catherine Reef
The second book I read this week was Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett.
This has been on my list to purchase for sometime, but I never seemed to remember it at Amazon. The used bookstore had a well read copy for $1 so I couldn't pass it up. Next I will probably buy in hardback.
Now I'm off for a mini road trip~ Have coffee, can travel!
