Hey! How are things? I hope you are well and enjoying July. I wanted to let you know that I'm out here, chasing the horizon and traveling again. I still owe you about 1,000 updates on the last few travel adventures, so as soon as things slow down I will be uploading like a mad woman. LOL So hang tight, my friends, I will be posting regularly again soon. Speak soon!
Living for so long in the desert, I rejoice now every time it rains. Today, I had the pleasure of capturing the enchanting dance of periwinkles and other blossoms as they rejoiced in a gentle summer shower. The rain drops delicately trickled down the petals, intensifying the colors in a magical alchemy. Vibrant reds, brilliant yellows, and cheerful pinks burst forth, transforming the world into a vibrant tapestry of hues. I was transfixed as the flowers, grateful for the rain's touch, gleamed with a renewed radiance as if they were whispering their gratitude to the sky. As I watched the gentle showers, the plants perked up and I witness the transformation of blooms into vibrant works of art. The rain's touch awakens a kaleidoscope of colors, adorning petals with shimmering droplets that sparkle like jewels. In this magical union, rain and flowers remind me of the inherent beauty in an often harsh world, and the delicate balance that sustains life. The next time the rain falls I invite you to step outside and witness the magical union between raindrops and flowers, for it is in these moments that nature's true magic unfolds.
Speak soon ~ It's July! The summer is truly here, full of possibilities and never-ending heat. I gladly say goodbye to June, as I'm more than ready to move forward now. No more dragging my feet, feeling unsure about the future and the correct path forward. There are endless possibilities this month; from lazy beach days to gathering with old friends for fun-filled backyard parties. Let's dive into the charm of July and all the exciting experiences it brings. Sunny Adventures: July brings with it sun-drenched days that beckon us outside. Whether you're seeking sandy beaches or the tranquil beauty of lush forests, this month offers endless opportunities for adventure. Dive into the water, hike scenic trails, or simply relax under the shade of a tree with a good book. Let July be your passport to nature's wonders, and let the sunshine heal your soul. Let's eat all the summer vegetables! July is a paradise for food lovers, offering an abundance of fresh produce and delectable treats. Succulent berries, juicy watermelons, and crisp vegetables fill the farmers' markets, inviting us to savor the flavors of the season. Grab your apron, fire up the grill, and experiment with new recipes. From cooling salads to frozen delights, July is the perfect time to indulge in fresh food adventures. Time seems to slow down in July. With the excitement and busyness of the summer, I also seem to slow down more. Sounds like a paradox, but as my birthday approach I always become more reflective. What about you? How do you approach July? I'm more likely to linger on the deck or take longer after dinner walks. I also journal more, study more and spend more time just thinking over the past. For me, July is a great time to find a peaceful spot to meditate, journal, read or engage in activities that bring joy and tranquility. Yes, it's hot as Hades outside, but somehow we can make this work. I'm committing to being more flexible now and slowing down on work projects as well. No more trying to do everything at once. I want to enjoy the sun, the fresh food and work on my self-awareness. What are your big plans for July? Do you feel reflective or are you ready for summer to just be over? Let me know in the comment section.
I hope we can make July a time of self-discovery, rejuvenation, and growth. Let's embrace this July and make the most of the summer. Stay tuned for a backlog of adventure posts, new cooking/recipes and much more. Speak soon~ Is there any greater joy than a perfect plate of rice? Okay maybe. But I'm loving this new rice cooker! I admit it doesn't take a whole lot to make me happy. But as someone who struggles to make rice, (I admit it) I am loving the convenience and simplicity of this new purchase.
What's your best kitchen / cooking tool? Air fryer? Rice cooker? Steamer? Please share! Have a great weekend~ Magnolia blooms hold cultural significance in the Southern United States and are often associated with the region's charm and hospitality. The magnolia tree, with its large and fragrant white flowers, is a common sight in the South and has become a symbol of the region's beauty and grace. Here are a few ways in which magnolia blooms are woven into our Southern culture:
1. Symbol of the South: The magnolia is often considered a symbol of the Southern United States. Its large, showy blooms are admired for their beauty and have become iconic in representing the region. 2. Hospitality and Grace: Magnolia blooms are seen as symbols of hospitality and grace. The magnolia tree's elegant appearance and sweet fragrance make it a popular choice for decorating homes and gardens, welcoming guests with a touch of Southern charm. 3. Southern Landscaping: Magnolia trees are commonly planted in Southern landscapes for their ornamental value. The evergreen nature of many magnolia varieties ensures that they provide beauty throughout the year. 4. Wedding Traditions: Magnolia blooms are sometimes incorporated into Southern weddings, either in floral arrangements or as decorations. Their beauty and symbolism make them a fitting choice for celebrations of love and unity. 5. Literary and Artistic Symbolism: Magnolias often appear in Southern literature, art, and folklore, adding to their cultural significance. They may be used as symbols of beauty, endurance, and the timeless qualities of Southern life. 6. Southern Heritage: The magnolia has deep roots in Southern heritage and has been featured in various cultural expressions, including music, literature, and visual arts. It is sometimes used to evoke a sense of nostalgia and connection to the South's rich history. 7. Medicinal and Practical Uses: Historically, parts of the magnolia tree, including the bark, have been used in traditional medicine. Native American and early settlers reportedly used magnolia bark for various purposes. I found this online:"The extract of the bark of Magnolia trees (Magnolia officianalis) has been used for some 1,000 years in traditional Chinese and Japanese medicine for treatment of maladies ranging from asthma to depression to headaches to muscle pain. It is generally considered safe if taken orally and for the short term. It also has a place in Native American medicine as an antimalarial. More than 250 ingredients can be found in the bark, flowers and leaves of the Magnolia, but two of the main compounds used in dietary supplements are magnolol and honokiol. They are used in cosmetic and weight loss products, and their use as anti-cancer, antioxidative, and anti-inflammatory agents is being studied." -From WEBMD I am always moved by their beauty. Hi,
