Is it cold where you are? Last night a cold front blew in here. As I leaned out the window to close the shutters I looked at the sky. OMG! So pretty! I snapped this with iphone, no edit, no filter. Just blue. 💙💙💙 Today I went to the market for carrots, it was windy & colder (sweater weather) but thank goodness it will be warmer tomorrow. I'm so enjoying the sunshine here in the south. 🇫🇷 The carrots were for a pot of veggie stew. It turned out wonderful, btw. And for Dessert... It's apple pie from the bakery. That's a XL sized plate, too. The apple pie is made with Croissant dough/crust, stewed apples & powder sugar on top.. It's is wonderful! Ok, that was my day. How was yours? Alright honestly there were Skype meetings & report reviews too, but I would rather foucus on the pie. Talk soon- #lifeInFrance #random

![]() Hello Again! Am continuing on with the Saint Gervais Trip of Aug 2010. (My How time flies!) I hope the uploader with cooperate today. We stayed in a typical chalet. It was very quaint (see pictures below) I really enjoyed being there. You know people always say the air in the alps is wonderful..well thats true! Some people stay year round, others are just enjoying the great off season discounts. I think there was a pool? Maybe? Sorry don't recall. :( Most Gites in France come with books and board games! Because you know about French TV, right? We ate a lot of simple food outside on our picnic table. It was SO GOOD. So Fresh and so flavorful! Mouth is watering now... I almost forgot pictures of the church in the village. I love old buildings of any kind. Good Night.
Ok thats all I found so far of our week in Saint Gervais, France. Sadly there were sooo many more pictures. :( Am working on a Bath, UK post next! Till then- ![]() Hello! I have another "Throw Back" Post today. This time Saint Gervais, France. I wanted to go some where different for my birthday in 2010, so we decided to visit the alps for a week! :D We were in the South of France that year, so it was pretty easy to get there. We flew into Geneva, Switzerland and had a car service pick us up and transport us to the gite. It was August, so off season, but was really a nice holiday. Also The annual meteor shower was exceptional viewed from the alps! Warning: Picture heavy post. So I was really daring and booked this place last second. (Not something I usually do) But got a GREAT Deal. Like I say is was off season, so that helped too. I have a TON of pictures from the trip, well I should say HAD, these are a few I pulled off Snapfish, again. Sadly all the rest are toast, :( So please to enjoy a trip to the French Alps. St Gervais les Bains (also referred to as St Gervais or St Gervais Mont Blanc) is not a recently purpose built resort, and so has a significant year round population, (approx 5,200) rather than just seasonal. It is full of historical buildings giving it the traditional charm much sought after in the alps. The Village is also famous for its flowers. You will see villages marked with flowers symbols on maps in France. This means they have won awards for the beauty of their flower decorations. Bakery was very good.
But be warned only a VERY FEW people in the village speak English. There was a good sized (for Europe) Casino Market in town too, If I remember correctly. It looks like I am going to have to cut this post in half. Uploader is not working and is taking forever. So one more shot of Mt Blanc and more next time. |
