Ready, Set, Jet!

Then this came through from RyanAir today. (Pretty sweet deals!) So thats roughly $31.08USD or 23.26EU. But if you want to go that cheap then you had better book from the Ryanair site and not on a US site. Why? If you book on US site you will pay 911 taxes...even if you are flying from UK to EU. (You will save approx. $99.00USD per ticket ) Which is nothing to sneeze at. The site is safe, the airline is budget, but safe. No, it's not one of my favs. but keep your bags to a minimum and hold your nose and go. It's a short, safe flight. Plus I really love his part of France. Ok, so where is this Car-Ca-Sonne? Please see map below.. Carcassonne (French pronunciation: [kaʁ.ka.sɔn]; Occitan: Carcassona) is a fortified French town in the Aude department, of which it is the prefecture, in the former province of Languedoc. It is divided into the fortified Cité de Carcassonne and the more expansive lower city, the ville basse. Carcassone was founded by the Visigoths in the fifth century, though the Romans had fortified the settlement earlier. The fortress, which was thoroughly restored in 1853 by the theorist and architect Eugène Viollet-le-Duc, was added to theUNESCO list of World Heritage Sites in 1997. (From Wiki go read more yourself, ok?) I have been like, hmmm maybe 5 times in the past 10 years? 1st time was just to get to France, had no idea about the town, BUT AS WE FLEW OVER I WAS BLOWN AWAY. Huge fortified cite means its a HUGE CASTLE. So if you like that kinda stuff go and explore. :D Staying in the Cite is expensive, but staying further down in the "new" area is very afforadable. We spent a week at a Gite in May of 2011. Very nice, good market and train station is small but connects well. (I think if I remember right we rode train from Barcelona, Spain to Perpignan, France (met a wonderful artist who spoke great English and we visited the whole ride.) We spent a couple of days there and then took the train to Carcassonne. All of it was affordable and safe, btw. I cannot find anymore of my pictures. (So this means I MUST RETURN) :D So anyway, people are barging into my office now...expecting me to work--(WTF?!) So guess I had better. Busy weekend ahead.
I hope you find time to visit Carcassonne. It's a magical place. Laters~ "When you travel, remember that a foreign country is not designed to make you comfortable. It is designed to make its own people comfortable." Hey,
Whats up? I snuck off to watch this movie the other night. (No, forgot to post on #GetGlue) I thought it would be funny and I was not disappointed. It was slightly different than the normal lame sitcom plot & people were laughing out loud in the audience. So need a date night movie or ? Go see it. (Goes to Getglue now and logs in, excuse me.) OK am back. There Get Glue is happy and it shows I am still alive out here, somewhere. More later ----
Writing "Thank You" notes for all the lovely gifts :D
So it's August. Ok, It's well into August already I know. It is always a CRAZY Month for us. Between he heat and the birthday madness-I have a lot of Leo friends too. (And we all know They Know how to party.) In true Leo fashion I celebrate my birthday all month long. I warn my friends no surprise parties...I don't like that kind of shit. And "Ain't nobody got time for that..." as the saying goes... So things are planned & organized in advance. Usually I take a week off from work...this year it's a week off minus 2 days. So yeah, that sux..but I am taking a week off next month so I guess it works out. Anyway, enough rambling...Here is some randomness.. I already had that ring..Was gifted the jewelry keeper and iphone holder. Super Nice. Writing is hard work. Veggie Panini to keep up my strength. This was SUPER good. I have been staying up way too late. Did you see the meteor shower? It was cloudy here, but that was last week. SO no excuse for this week. I was just watching movies and partying... And...One last thing before I end this randomness.. Ok, Catch you later-
Hey, I think he missed me?? How's it going? I'm pretty good, a lot accomplished in a short amount of time. So I have time to address some questions I rec'd lately. 1 question I have been asked was about my cat - Exactly what I do with him when I travel?? (I have a dog too, but no one seems to care about him, :0) Poor thing... So this also links back to the topic of "letting people know you are away". Rick is SUPER paranoid about this one. I see my friends on FB post they are on holiday all the time. Some only post when they have returned, others don't seem to mind telling the world they are gone. Cool, whatever...You know I don't care, I can barely keep up with my own schedule, much less anyone else's. But for some people (Rick) this is a issue. He just knows that robbers are waiting to rip you off the minute the post goes up. :X Back on topic; what do I do with the cat? I have a gardner who takes care of the animals and plants when I am gone for a short while and for longer trips I have a house sitter & an assistant to pick up the mail, pay the bills & forward important mail to me. It can be a lot to coordinate but it equals a MUCH Better trip because I have less worries & And when I return home I have less to do. :D Mystic just lays around mostly, see? But you get the idea, right? In Rick's defense he travels a lot for work and has had his condo ripped off more than once. He lives in a nice area, but still... My neighbors also look out for the animals and the house while I am away. So I am lucky to have so many good people in my life. :D The cats (yes, I have more than 1) usually pout the 1st day I'm back, but after belly rubs and lots of noms all is back to normal. The dog is always happy! ^ . . ^ Ok, hope that answered you question about Mystic (the cat) & traveling. Talk soon-

More Random Food Pictures... There is more, but this was enough for today.

State Park
While we were roaming around Texas I did a quick drive through of this State Park. (Please click the highlighted area for their home page & more information.) This park is best explored during Spring or Fall. The Summer heat & dry conditions do nothing for the palmettos and swamps suffer. :( For a list of State Parks in Texas click here. Its a Wiki link that will get you started. :D The park camping area. It was so very dry that I didn't even spend the $2.00 to drive down to the river. We just exited the park and went on to the next adventure (Luiling). I do wish for more rain as this is a lovely place to visit when it's green and healthy. The swamps were sad, so didn't take any photos. :( We have sort plans to camp at Enchanted Rock later in the fall. So yeah another road trip. :) I am trying to do as much Texas stuff as I can before returning to Europe next Spring. Then will squeeze in as much as possible while away. lol or not. After the 1st week away I usually shift into European mode and take life a LOT SLOWER.
Ok, have to make the Sunday taco run... See you at the airport~ |
