The hardest thing about trying a Raw diet, *for me anyway, is after I have eaten all the fruit, what then? I'm full but then dinner time rolls around and suddenly my tummy is growling and I want something more satisfying. What to "not" cook next? It's so NOT AS EASY as it Looks. Then I think it's because we are programed to think that if it's not cooked, covered in sauce or herbs it can't be good. It's was the same thing when I gave up cheese. I thought, "WTF? WHAT AM I GONNA EAT THAT DOESN'T HAVE CHEESE?" turns out food actually tastes all right without cheese! Also it tastes pretty good without gravy or sauces, especially if it is fresh. The BIGGEST myths that I noticed were: 1. It's too expensive! 2. It takes for-ever to prepare. (Said while rolling eyes) 3. It taste like crap. 4. It's same old boring thing, day after day. All of the above are lies! Lies I tell you! #1. When you stop purchasing all the other crap, you have more than enough money to eat healthy. It's just difficult in the beginning when you are transitioning. #2. Nope, Mostly it's super quick. You may have to let something sit in freezer/fridge but the prep time to not too bad. Good equipment (just like conventional cooking) is a key part. #3. If your food tastes like crap you are doing it wrong! It's actually amazingly good and flavorful. My mouth now waters when I see fruits and veggies and I am replaced by candy/cupcakes/Crap. #4. The sky is the limit on what you prepare. There are some amazing sites that offer FREE recipes and advice. Also good (and cheap) (not) cookbooks you can buy. But it's not ALL ABOUT NUTS either, so don't loose faith is you are allergic. The planet is actually full of Food. *Who knew? When can eat and more importantly ENJOY, without polluting the environment or our bodies. #WIN
What are your "go to" favorite raw recipes? Do you have any or are you just beginning? Please share recipes or your story in the comments section below. I am collecting recipes now. I will post (along with picture and reviews) soon. See you at the airport- (Right after I eat some raw brownies!) #Raw #Vegan #Food #Healthy #Msoneworld4me Morning, Excuse the telephone pole, but please do enjoy the sunrise with me. It's the weekend which either means "party your ass off" or "crash and recoup" for Monday and the week ahead. This week was a bit of both for a change. The rains came again and cancelled our hiking plans. Why must it flood every weekend? WTF? I'm serious. I drove two and a half a miles and it took forever as I had to detour for low water crossings and raging rivers. Months I'm away and it doesn't rain at all. I return to Texas and it's back to flooding... But I made up for the cancelled adventure by working on my next trip. The UK chocolate is now gone, so it's time to go back.#Practical The real question is: I can squeeze a trip to Japan in before or after France and England next year? Time, money and work all figure in the problem. I have a feeling once I visit Japan I will want to return often and that starts another set of problems. After giving up on that - at least for the weekend, I screwed off and went to see a friend. She is busier than I am (how is that humanly possible?) and then out for dinner with another buddy. (It was a busy weekend, after all.) My friends handmade quilt. It's amazing. I pretty much don't sew. I staple. Most of my friends sew, quilt, can and garden. (I do garden at least.) It's pretty much a #Texas thing. Not that we don't have stores, we actually have more stores in my area of Texas than most of Europe ~ #CommerceisUs Spent the rest of the weekend working on the two online course I'm taking. Sadly they are not on writing blog copy, (Lol Sorry/Not Sorry.) How was your weekend? Going any place cool? It's a BIG world out there. Seems a waste to just see it from a computer screen. That's my motto and justification for traveling when I probably should be at home. (According to some people, anyway...) See you at the airport- So mostly these days I am working, shopping on line, working some more and planning my next trip. Here is a bit of loot that arrived yesterday. I bought two of the "I survived the TSA" bags. I have no idea what I'm gonna put in them, but you can never have enough containers when you travel. Plus anyone who travels much in the USA knows there are some trip you deserve a metal for the crap the TSA put you through.. That was no filter or edit. Just a bad zoom on the IPAD and I cut my neighbors house off so that you couldn't see them. They are pretty paranoid anyway (really, I'm not joking) and now add me outside at random times of the day and night taking pictures of the sky... I always try to make sure I'm not wearing my Illuminati t-shirt at the time. See you at the airport-
#msoneworld4me Another month gone.. I have been busy as fuck since stepping off the boat and returning to the US. I posted 23 times in October and a good percentage of these posts were one picture entries. I know I need to slow down at work and it would seem I am also MEGA boring when I'm in Texas. But never fear, dear readers, I am planning my next adventure even now. Meanwhile do check out these posts in case you missed anything. Most are really short, after all. These were the most clicked entries for last month, maybe not the best post, but the most read: Different is Cool- Always a favorite, a cool/funky stay in a French hotel. This post and the dating post (see below) are usually always in the top 10. 10 Best Second Date Ideas - Every month I say I will write more about dating and NEVER do. #WTF? What's in My Shopping Bag - Finally something NEW that made the list. This was a market haul of mostly organic produce. You can compare the cost and quality of your home vs. Texas. Day 22 in Halloween Town - Quick pictures of Day of the Dead stuff posing as random Halloween themed merchandize. I have been so busy with work and trying to not get washed away in the floods that I really haven't written all that much this month. I Miss My Family - This one surprised me. I was going to just slap some pictures up and call it a day when I stumbled on a quote about traveling and the people you meet. So I wrote more than normal and whined about #England, again. 22 Days of Halloween Fun - More random #Halloween fun. I'm not sure why I seem to be stuck on 22? October 22, 2014 Last year I was in France. Didn't post much because I was too busy living at the bakery. Lol London and Beyond Fashion - London, Paris and Texas. How the HELL do you pack for the Opera, dating and backpacking? I wonder how myself. Mostly I don't. I just buy clothes along the way and then donate them to charity when I'm done. See you at the airport-
Hurricane Patricia was so large that rain bands crossed over Mexico and sent storms into the Gulf of Mexico and Texas. There was flooding, then a week or so of hot, dry weather and now more storms. Glad the rains have stopped for awhile, at least for a few days, as more are predicted. As you can guess it's still very warm here. I went to a dinner with friends a few days ago and here are the pictures I took along the way. We took a nice drive in the country and were astonished to see how high the river was cresting, still. “Being soaked alone is cold. Being soaked with your best friend is an adventure.” ― Emily Wing Smith and Yes, I have been having adventures. It seems like my oldest and dearest friends are showing up in Texas now. Must be the rain. But at least all the rain is making everything green again. Lol The grass here had been dry, dead and crispy until these storms. A BIG difference from the lush north western English country side I just came from. Yes, I'm still whining about England and missing it terribly. I do apologize. I had no idea my window was that streaked! (See below.) After a long, lazy dinner I drove back home to continue my obsession with planning my next adventure. There are so so many good travel specials right now. I can't decide where to go first!
See you at the airport~ #Msoneworld4me #Random #Travel #Texas It's time to plan the next big adventure. I'm so ready to getting going again.
Here's to this being a better month for us all. Cheers- #Paris |
