Bluebonnets, Indian paintbrushes, red poppies, purple tansy, ox-eyed daises and wine cup flowers bloom throughout the spring in Texas. The downside is spring only last a few hours, lol. Actually that is a brief exaggeration...the flowers usually last from March through mid-May and vary from year to year based on heat, rain and other weather conditions. When they do appear Texas natives flock to the Hill Country and surrounding areas to photograph them and celebrate spring. They came early this year. I was surprised at the big yield of flowers at my place in south central Texas. I did a quick video of the Indian Paintbrushes and occasional bluebonnet and managed to catch a few butterflies. People were out taking pictures as I shot this quick video as the weather is still really nice. If you want to enjoy the flowers just remember, the bluebonnet the state flower of Texas and it's illegal to pick. If its your first time in the Texas wildflowers beware of snakes and fire ants, but do enjoy the burst of color while it lasts.
