Does it count as a roadtrip if I'm only going 20 miles away? I had company this week and was doing my best to show them something other than my livingroom and my favorite coffee shop. New Mexico is a lot smaller than Texas, but it still has a lot of cool things to see. So for this adventure we stayed mostly around Albuqerque, you know about 20 miles from my front door, lol. I'm as guily as anyone for living in a place and not exploring it. I go into town, do my errands and come back home. #Boring as fuck. I then plan adventures in other countries, when I should be exploring what's right in front of me. So please enjoy being a tourist with me in New Mexico. Albuqerque is know for the big ballon fest. (Click here to see 2017 schedule) It is held annually ever October. The Balloon Fiesta is a nine-day event, and has over 500 balloons each year. The event is the largest hot air balloon festival in the world and well worth visiting. And if you forgot, Breaking Bad was also set and flimed in ABQ. I found this interview on line: "Q: Is there any part of New Mexico that you will miss when filming wraps up? A: “There are a lot of parts of New Mexico that I'm going to miss. I fell in love with that city during the first season and fell in love with the entire state in the seasons after that. I own a place there and I'm going to keep it, so I'll go back." - Aaron Paul who plays Jesse Pinkman on blogs.amctv.com/breaking-bad Q: Do you plan to maintain a residence in Albuquerque after the show wraps? What's your favorite Albuquerque restaurant? A: “I do. I own a house there and greatly enjoy my time there. I may be able to come back and visit and also work some more in Albuquerque. I've developed a lot of friendships and places I like to go, so it's been great for me. In terms of restaurant, I think for dinner I enjoy going out to El Pinto because of the food and the guys who own the restaurant and the general manager. I enjoy the atmosphere, the food and the drinks and it's pretty festive. And as a great standby, you can't beat Flying Star.” - Bryan Cranston who plays Walter White on blogs.amctv.com/breaking-bad " *Taken from the "Visit ABQ" page click here to read more. If Beaking Bad isn't your thing -There is a lot more to see and do in town. "Native American groups have inhabited the territory of New Mexico for thousands of years, many centuries before Europeans reached the Americas. When the Spanish came to New Mexico in the 1500s, they brought with them their Roman Catholic religion. Those missionaries traveled to this new territory to bring their faith to the Native American people and converted many. However, Native beliefs and customs persevered and became intertwined with those brought by the Spanish colonists. New Mexico is home to 22 tribes, including the Navajo Nation, Jicarilla Apache, Mescalero Apache, and 19 pueblos. Each tribe is unique and has its own traditional language, customs, values, prayers, songs, ceremonies, traditional attire, and way of life." - Taken from Visit ABQ page. It's a very laid back place, even more so than Austin (Texas). The adventures will be over a couple of post.....I'm still sorting blurry pictures.
Catch you later- Comments are closed.
