![]() Hey, How are things? I'm still in Texas for a bit longer. Most people find Texas fascinating, I'm not entirely sure why? People either Love or HATE it, but few have no opinion at all. About a year ago I wrote a post on the most common questions/myths people ask me about Texas and Texans.Click here if you want to read. Now to continue on to More Texas Myths... Everyone has cattle or is a Rancher. Most of the cattle ranchers have to have day jobs and the cows are just a hobby. More and more corporations are taking over. People ride horses everywhere! Yes and no. Its not uncommon for people to ride horses down the street, but then again it usually doesn't happen in the cities. Unless its a trail ride. Which is usually the BEST reason to get drunk a ride your horse anywhere. Everyone has a oil well in their yard! That's a lot of NEW wells! And that doesn't count the old wells that are already producing. South Texas is covered with wells, pump jacks and holding stations now. I keep hearing from other people that its just CRAZY how many well there are. I may have to do a road trip just to see for myself whats going on down there. Even here in south central Texas some of my friends have done very well in the oil industry, but if you didn't already own land before the oil boom of the 1970's the chances are good you did not have the mineral rights to your property. So the new boom didn't matter. Someone else made the money. :( And no, I don't have a oil well in my yard. But I did argue for the mineral rights on all my property. (Cross fingers, one day they find oil there.) Until then it's off to work, now where did I put my saddle? Catch you later- Comments are closed.
