Ready, Set, Jet!
|
Another book came in the mail today. Who needs Christmas when you have Amazon, right? I'm asked so often, "What are you reading?" That I should feature it as a weekly blog post! (As if!) Honestly I've been really busy with work lately so I have been falling into bed like the dead, with no time to read. #WTF Sad, right? But when I do get a bit of a break I'm happily reading anything in my new stack. I don't have much time to read, but I can still order books, lol #TreasuresFromAmazon Currently I'm reading a wonderful book on Japanese Prints. Ms. Harris, as you may recall, wrote the novels the True Blood television saga was based on. I love her twist on southern life (and death) and her characters. Life in the South is very different and usually is portrayed rather lackluster, but her characters really jump off the page! This is her newest narrative taking place not in Louisiana, as the Sookie Stackhouse mysteries did, but in Texas. I heard a rumor that it is being filmed as a new mini series. I googled and look here - it's being filmed right up the street from me! Can't wait to see it. In the meantime the 3rd book (thats the 2nd book pictured) has just been released. Amazon is shipping it right now... The other book I'm reading is on Japanese Prints. It is a lovely illustrated book I am so glad to add to my collection. I have a good size assortment of art books, mostly the old masters and impressionist art with a few "art theory" books thrown in for good measure, lol. But sadly not much about Eastern Art, other than museum guides. So what are you reading? And how many books do you usually read at once?
I'm so swamped with work I will need another vacation soon, lol. I'm got a few short trips planned for March that I can't wait to share with you. In the meantime I'm gonna read and catch up on my sleep. See you at the airport- I hope you had a lovely, fun filled Valentine's Day! So what did you do? Where did you go and how much candy did you eat? lol Most of my friends did the traditional dinner date at an over priced restaurant and flowers. A couple of lucky ladies got jewelry too, but it's really about spending time with people you care about, right? I made vegan candy, had a lovely dinner and felt the love myself. I'm so happy with my life now, especially compared to last year or 2015. It really doesn't take a lot to make me happy, at least not when I'm surrounded by good people. I feel so blessed! I'm working on a haul post from my shopping in NYC and later in ABQ so stay tuned.
See you at the airport- Hi, How are You? It's been awhile since I reviewed a new product, so I was thinking, since I'm always hungry (true story) and always excited to try new things, I thought I should share my findings with you today. But first the Disclaimer - I'm not a food blogger. I'm a hungry vegan.... If you are expecting glorious food pictures, decorated with flowers and tiny bits of glitter, move on..you won't be happy here. I'm just a girl who likes to travel and eat. I bought this item and decided to cook today. Perhaps my experience will be different from yours, perhaps not. Okay, so who wants pancakes?? Here is what happened next: They were a HUGE Hit. I served them with Organic Maple Syrup and wow.
Just wow! I can also report that I had no heavy or bloated feeling afterward. Everyone ate their fill and we still had a few left and when asked, all voted this to the "buy again" list. #score Now remember, I didn't use eggs, I replaced them with the Neategg. I didn't use milk at all, it was replaced with water. The butter was replaced with olive oil and the pancakes were fried in coconut oil. So I barely followed the instructions at all, lol! Pros: Flavor was good, the mix was easy and everyone liked them. I think these would be great for a day when I have company and they want a more "traditional" breakfast than Vegan Nice Cream, which is my personal "breakfast of choice". This, plus veggie sausage, fruit and fried tofu would make a huge, traditional breakfast that would please anyone. I recommend this as a staple to keep on hand for guest or for when you want a breakfast change. Cons: I would not eat them often, as I do not consider them particularly healthy. Also even if I could get two or three meals out of a box.....that's a lot of money for pancakes. Have you tried them before? Or do you eat them regularly? I'd love to hear what you think. I will buy another box and keep in pantry for guests or that odd breakfast. I'm gonna try some of the other products this company makes and will report back on them. Catch you later I still have pancakes to eat~ This challenge is going on and on, isn't it? It would probably be better if I had actually done one post per day, as it states in the instructions, but who wants to follow the instructions? lol So where did we leave off? Day 25 - Inspiration: I really like this. It sums up how I feel, we have to be a voice for those that cannot speak for themselves, whom ever they are, wherever they are. I'm talking about the children, the animals, people denied freedom and of course the disenfranchised. If we don't help them, who will? We all have so much and take it for granted. I think traveling teaches so many life lessons. Day 26 - Healthcare:
I do use other beauty products but I don't consider them health related. Day 27 - A fresh start: Moving from south Texas to New Mexico was my fresh start. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Change is scary, moving is scary, starting over is scary, but it also is so freeing! Honestly, I ask myself why I waited so long? Sometimes you have to move on and get away from toxic people and situations. There comes a time when you must face your fears and just do it! Day 28 - Dreams do come true! Visiting Iceland was a dream come true! It was so awesome! But honestly my life is pretty much a dream come true. I am so grateful! I'm grateful for my job and the ability to travel, too. So much good is happening in my life. I feel so blessed and thankful, which actually is why I began this challenge. :D Day 29 - Internet: This is a tricky one. I don't suppose you want to see a picture of my router? So internet, hmm. I received a text from T-Mobile telling me welcome to Iceland! You have free unlimited texts, 2g internet and .20 a minute for calls. It was amazing to be able to get calls from the US and UK! Day 30 - Wisdom: And suddenly we are done with the 30 day challenge ~ (Okay, at last!)
Thank you for reading! I would love to see your take on this challenge. Leave me a link in the comments or send me a link to your list. See you at the airport~ We haven't done this in forever! Let's play "What the Hell have I been posting" okay? In no particular order here are a few of my latest posts on IG and a brief explanation. This was taken in Freshark in New York. I adore their fresh food and visited daily for the smoothies and Vegan burgers! (Read about it HERE) I was in New York in January and again a few days ago, so it would seem like this is going to be a good year for traveling! I have been blogging some about the recent trip to Iceland. Check here and here or just hit the Iceland tag here. Really pretty handmade jewelry in New Mexico. I may have returned ready to shop, lol. I actually have a ton of pictures from this trip I need to sort and write about. Isn't the jewelry amazing? The weather has been so, so crazy!
1st trip to NYC and it was snowing, and it was colder there than in Iceland! 2nd trip to NYC and it's spring like weather, until the day after we leave and a blizzard hits! OMG! #WTF?? I'm so glad for my cozy socks, and to be back home - let it snow! Catch you later- |
