Ready, Set, Jet!

Spring break trip continues. This is a quick picture heavy post from a random road trip to New Mexico, USA. Taken in March 2016. Read more about this trip here and the Roswell adventure here. And there is yet MORE here. Let me stress one more time.. On this adventure I went to New Mexico which is a state in the USA. NOT THE COUNTRY MEXICO. I actually haven't been to MEXICO the country in a few years. I think my last trip was 2011 or 2012 so no blog post. #Sorry New Mexico is usually considered one of the Mountain States in the United States. It is the fifth biggest state, but it is the sixth-least densely populated of the 50 United States. (According to WIKI) It touches Texas, but it is still an all day drive from my part of Texas to the border. (See the map.) As we got closer to New Mexico the area became flatter and flatter. You could see for a very long way and the horizon was beautiful as the sun slowly set. We watched the colors change and dusk seemed to last forever. It was really cool to be tooling down the highway with very little traffic. We used the Waze app and it directed us off the main roads and through cool little towns. Love the sunset colors! :O We stayed one night In Rowell, which is famous for the UFO crash and aliens. Click here to read that post. Meanwhile in Roswell... If you have never heard of Rosewell: "Roswell is a city in New Mexico. It is the county seat of Chaves County in the southeastern quarter of the state of New Mexico, United States. As of the 2010 census it had a population of 48,411,making it the fifth-largest city in New Mexico. Roswell is most popularly known for having its name attached to what is now called the 1947 Roswell UFO incident, though the crash site of the alleged UFO was some 75 miles (121 km) from Roswell and closer to Corona. The investigation and debris recovery was handled by the local Roswell Army Air Field." from WIKI read the rest here. This was my second visit. We spent the night here and then explored the next day. I love the fact the town has embraced all the UFO craziness and has a sense of humor. Read the full post here. New Mexico is famous for other things besides Roswell and the Aliens. Native American Art and Spanish / Mexican style items as well as handcrafted jewelry made in New Mexico are very sought after. There was a fire burning as we drove into Albuquerque. #Yikes! I really liked the town. I'm not sure if I had ever been there before, if so it was years and years ago. I stayed a few days and then flew back to Austin. Overall it was a fun road trip and wonderful to get away. I enjoyed revisiting Roswell and seeing some new stuff, too. Now I need to post on my other big trip, plus get the next reservations in order for the April adventure.
See you at the airport! Happy Easter~ Hope you had a nice holiday and if you do not celebrate hope you had a lovely weekend. We don't really celebrate, but my nephew and his 3 year old came over for a visit. There was egg hunting and chocolate. Too much chocolate, lol. The "new" plastic eggs have wholes in them? You may remember that I started the holiday off early with a flight and then a road trip to New Mexico. You can read about it here and here. So I was content to stay home and work on packing my house for the upcoming move. I also took very few pictures (falling down on the job) I mostly lazed on the couch, lol. I have posted MOST of the new Mexico trip, but still have a few pictures to go through. I made vegan chocolate banana peanut butter nice cream for everyone and even with all the candy no one complained and it disappeared quickly. So you can eat healthy and still have a fun holiday (but we already knew that, didn't we?)
I did not make baskets this year or over spend for a change on holiday clothes. I kept to the budget and no one seemed to notice. The holiday is really about spending time with family, after all. Now I'm booking tickets for next months adventure. So excited - can't wait! See you at the airport! I love the fact the town has embraced all the UFO craziness and has a sense of humor. The chainsaw carved art pieces were all over town. Yes, I jumped out to take a picture with this one. Yes, the alien looked cuter than me, hence no pictures will be posted. #FAIL If you want to read about the beginning of this trip click here. There be a part 3 soon. Main street is the place to be.. From the silly to the really SILLY, Roswell was a nice side trip on this adventure. It was a Sunday morning and people were out taking in the sites and buying T-shirts and such. I think this was a new one. I don;t remember seeing it last trip. But we pushed on...after lunch. And then we were back on the road headed to Albuquerque for more adventures. See you at the airport~
When you say Albuquerque to most people they think of the Balloon festival or Native American crafts or the cactus. What do you think of? I think of all the fun I have had there and all the awesome people I've met. See, I just returned from a few days in New Mexico and ended my stay with a couple of days there. Read about the trip here and here. (And look for another post still to come..) No pictures of the room or town really, most pictures of roaming around are in the other post. My main meal of the day (why don't I weight 99 lbs? #WTF?) This bottle of water and two clif bars cost almost $20USD. #FUCK! But yes, I bought them. I had bananas and nuts with me - so this made a decent snack. So it's Spring and I so don't want to be inside! Is it Spring where you are yet? The wild flowers are blooming here (see) So I kinda threw together a trip at the last minute, I had been ill the week before and I didn't think I would feel like going anywhere. But, never under estimate the ability of a trip to cure me. I have been doing nothing much but work lately, so I really, really needed a break. If you follow me on Instagram, then you know I am still gone, yeah! The trip is going really well and I'm having fun. Tons of pictures to sort and edit. Meaning a proper post will follow soon - until then please to enjoy some random travel non-sense. I arrived to a packed airport in Austin, Texas. SXSW is about over (I think?) but the place was full of people. I finally made it through security and found a few things I could nibble on while waiting for my flight. I was bored so, I spruced up the pictures with random edits. Plane was ready to go and full! Actually over booked even. 2 people were in the same seat behind me. So we waited for it to be sorted and then off we went to Dallas, Texas. It's a short flight from Austin. We were up in the air in no time! I took a few photos, like I'd never been on a plane before. This is Dallas/Fort Worth just before we landed. Picked up the car and drove the rest of the day. (Those pictures will be in part 2) Have a great weekend and see you at the airport~
Happy Saint Patricks Day everyone ~ Do you have plans? There will be celebrations all over the US today, as suddenly most people become Irish. I admit to being shocked the 1st time I was in the UK for St Patrick's Day. I expected over the top celebrations, but it is very low key there, nothing like the mayhem we have in the United States. #FAIL It's HUGE holiday in Texas, too. In San Antonio they dye the river green and there will be parades and pub crawls. Who doesn't love that? I'm going to work.. #PARTYON lol...but I do have a busy late weekend planned and who knows, I might even turn up in Ireland! Stranger things have happened...
See you at the airport~ Hi and happy almost weekend! Mine started a bit early this week. #Score! Sorry I have been MIA lately, work is really busy (thank goodness) and I have been uber busy planning the next series of adventures. I have had some really amazing trips lately, both big and small - I can't wait to share them with you. I plan on editing pictures and blogging next trip home, I promise! I have also been busy perfecting more raw recipes. Raw, NOT cooking has turned out to be so much fun! *Who knew you could be healthy and have fun?? Thank you all for continuing to read my silly little blog and the lovely emails too! Ya'll rock!
:D So I have to catch a plane now, but be on the look out for more random food, shopping and travel pictures to follow~ Have a great weekend! |
