Hi,
Hope your week is going well. I haven't been in the mood to post much, with work being over the top and all. But the real reason isn't work. See a old friend of mine was just murdered in San Antonio (Texas). In front of his house, by his mail box. No witness, no clues and no reason. What the FUCK?! I searched on line for more information, but there are so many awful things happening in San Antonio that it was considered trivial. Yes, Really. I don't visit SA often, I prefer Austin. But the crime there is out of control too. It's one of my MAJOR PET PEEVES when talking about crime in the states people say, "But what are you going to do? It's like that everywhere." WTF?!! #1. No, its not. OPEN your eyes, leave the village and see for yourself & Stop taking someone else's word for how the world really is. and #2. That makes it ok? WHAT? We should just give up? And that folks, is life in America in a "nut" shell. Misinformation and apathy. So I am going to end this post here. I don't want to rant about crime in the US or talk about my friend. Except to say he was a kind man and a good guy. This should not have happened to him. Loma Linketts ReviewHi All- File this under what vegetarians eat, lol. I have been eating these FOREVER. So you know already this is a GOOD product. If you have never tried read on..If you do buy them I have a few simple & quick recipes that I use them in when I have parents/picky kids over for dinner. The non vegetarian children ask me to make these when they stop by. So you know how good they are, right? So what is it: Canned Vegetarian/Vegan Veggie Hot Dogs Canned, precooked Loma Linda Linketts offer a slightly spicy flavor in hot dog form without any meat. Easy to prepare and serve, Loma Linda Linketts can be warmed in a sauce pan, microwaved, or grilled. Made with textured vegetable proteins from wheat and soy, Loma Linda Linketts offer a great meat substitute. They are Vegetarian and Vegan! :D Dietary Exchange: 1 medium-fat meats per serving *Low saturated fat and 0 trans fats *Cholesterol free *7 grams of protein per serving *Contains B Complex Vitamins: B6, B12, and thiamin, niacin, and riboflavin *1 gram of dietary fiber *Kosher dairy I buy mine by the case from Amazon. Now, how do they taste? Very good or I would not spend this much money. (See Amazon price next picture.) My meat eating friends FREAK out on the cost. But the difference is in WHATS in the HOTDOG.. aka no snips, no snails, no puppy dog tails, or toenails, left over meat parts, etc. We have all been warned, right? :( VeganI know several "survivalist” that keep cases of these to eat when the world ends. I just like them for nights I don’t feel like cooking or when we go camping. lol I also break them out when we have adults and children that fall in the "picky eater" category. (you know the ones..) I have found that mostly everyone likes Pigs in a Blanket. Its quite simple with these tasty hotdogs. You just rolled them up in crescent dough and bake. You can also add cheese or tofu cheese, as you like. They smell wonderful baking and people LOVE THEM. Or do ay my house. Another of my "go to foods" when kids are over. Most of my adult friends suck it up when they come for dinner. Actually most are keen to try the new, raw, crazy foods we weird vegetarians eat...yeah um sure, whatever. But when they bring the kids I turn to this. The adults love them too. When I have the die-hard meat eaters over I make this. I remember my mother making this (with meat hotdogs) when I was a kid. She boiled the hotdogs and then sliced them and baked until thoroughly heated in BBQ sauce. I do the same and depending on the type of sauce you can really vary the flavor. Like I said even the die-hard meat eaters admit this is good. So experiment! I am actually baking these now. Nothing says summer quite like hotdogs and fresh water melon, you know? I am taking both to a potluck we are having at work. So gotta run..
Please try the Loma Linda Linketts & let me know what you think. See you later- Hey, (No one really says Howdy, unless they are being a smart ass) * _____ * So I'm still in Texas. People are writing/texting asking where am I? ..still here. As per the plan, working my ass off. I'm taking some time off in Aug to go to Austin (Texas) to just chill & visit my buds. Had also wanted to go camping in central Texas but is still way too hot for that. So I will be here for awhile yet. One of the Texas Myths I get asked about is the price of fuel. "Is it dirt cheap? It is right? Cause it's all around you." Well hmm, no. Its all around, but has to be pumped, processed & refined and blah, blah ask a petroleum engineer, (which I am not). We all think it cost too much. California is always more expensive, but it cost enough here, trust me. This was taken 7/27/13 as I filled up my truck. I had 1/4 of a tank to begin with. So yes, cheaper than some places..but not FREE. I don't drive as much as I used to, my commute is very short, lol. And it's different prices all over the state. It can vary quite a bit town by town. Some of my friends spend over $500.USD a month just driving to work. SUXS. :X 2nd Myth: Its always HOT in Texas. This is true, except when it's cold. LOL Anyway, yea the summers are horrible. Thankfully it was cooler this weekend- Ms. Angela keeps saying this is going to be the coolest Aug on record. No one else seems to have heard that. I am crossing my fingers she is right. (The one on the left, lol) I had to wear a cardigan over it for work, but was still very comfortable. To read the outstanding deal I got on it click here. 3rd Myth: There are NO Vegetarians/Vegans/Healthy places to eat. No, they are here. I am often asked what I eat in Texas..well I cook so that is a BIG + but there are more & more choices opening up. Oh & I went to a new health food store in New Braunfels, click here for a short post on it. Oh and I order food from Amazon. Speaking of I just received a shipment of Loma Linda Linketts and am working on a review. I have eaten them for years..they are soo good. There's your review, short and sweet, right? No, I have a few more things to say about them. Hope to finish & post this week. Ok, Its late & I have to run. I spent a good part of Saturday looking for that shelf thing for my buddy's birthday. Still no luck. I didn't take photos in the shops because they were so stuffed with junk. I am sorry "Antiques", not JUNK.
Catch you later - I have hot dogs to eat. :D Hello FridayHappy Friday! How was your week? Hope it went well. The Vegan Cuts monthly box arrived. :) I managed to snap a picture before we mowed through it. (Read about last months box here.) It is well work the $19.USD a month to discover all the vegan food that's out there. So if your on the fence, just go ahead and buy 1 month and see for yourself. Dylan & I split the loot & we liked EVERYTHING in the box. I just could not eat this. It smelled too "fishy" =( Had I not known it was Vegan I would have guessed it was made with some sorta evil fish by-product. Dylan liked them and ate the whole package. *__* So there you go..Something for everyone. The cookies and treats were all awesome. Fig bars rule! With working soo F"*king much I have to really watch what I am eating..Its so easy to just grab something & run out the door. And usually that "something" is crap. :X So have been taking the time (a whole extra 5 minutes) to make real shakes with fresh fruit instead. And also trying to pick the yogurt/fruit over the cookies & cake...lol My actual Weekend plans are working. fun, huh? My dancing buddy called me yesterday, but sadly not this weekend. :( Even my cat wants to spend time with me...This is his "look cute" face, frightening, huh? Ok, I have to go to work now. Talk soon & have a great weekend-
Don't forget stargazing is a great 2nd date! imagine: Lawn chairs (or a blanket) a little coffee (or wine) & your honey at night, all alone looking at the stars..together. Sounds good, huh? So start looking for the ideal spot now, because August is right around the corner.. Oh & this picture came from tumblr - I actually always mark the celestial events on my calendar @ the beginning of the year. I plan my trips around the meteor showers :D yes, really. I do spend a lot of time looking up. (read the St Gervais post - watched in the Alps! Best location ever!) Ok, I must sleep NOW. :( I promise a real, proper post in the morning. See you then - Busy Bee WednesdayHow did it get to be Wednesday already? I have so much going on that I had to make a “Day by Day” to do list. #FML :( But I have vacations/trips coming up so it is all worth the extra work. :D Or so I keep telling myself.. Let’s see, other than too much work not a lot has been happening. Well Ms. Y & hubby drove over for a visit. It was nice to see them & catch up. A few other people have dropped by this week too. And Rick blew into town.. Most everyone knows I leave for my birthday, so people are stopping by before. (it’s not till middle of next month) Which is so sweet. One of my clients and I play the “post card” game. Meaning she and I exchange postcards when we travel. Which is actually really nice. I like to receive snail mail that isn’t bills or advertisements. She is in Pennsylvania right now- (Amish country) and sent this card. :) And Saw this in the store: And found this on line when I should have been working, lol. I forget what I was looking for when I found it.. Why don't we all have these balcony desk thingys? (#5) And water slides?? Ok, I really have to get back to work.
Talk soon- So what are you waiting for? Start planning that trip NOW.
See ya at the airport- :D Hi & Happy Weekend! Hope everyone is having a good one. I started to find we were out of butter..:( Well almost out..I was 1 tbs short so I added a dollop of oil and moved on. I really need to include I do not recommend baking this way. I always ALWAYS follow the recipe the 1st go round. After that I experiment like Dr. Frankenstein (not really, but you get the idea) but the 1st time follow the directions. So here I go veering off course form the get go. (WTF?!?! But I was still in pj's - sans makeup & if I am cleaning up/dressing to go store I will just buy breakfast and be done with it, you know?) Ready for the oven Moving on.. The ingredients were mixed & I made do. 1 stick unsalted butter and milk were all that was added to the dry mix. I only had Lite Vanilla Soy Milk (of course) So I am sure that also made a difference.. Also about 1/2 the bag was used to make biscuits so I was happy I didn't use it all the 1st time around. After the butter is cut in the dough needs to be kneaded. (No rolling) I used the time-honored tradition of using a water glass as a biscuit cutter. I always bake my “tails” too. So that why it looks like that. They smelled good baking (light whiff of vanilla perhaps?) and all, but not like bread. Baked 20 min @ 350' The biscuits do not rise; so make sure yours are thicker than cookies. Taste? Good, to not much taste. I gobbled down 3 and waited…no bloating. WWOWOWOW I then had a cup of hot tea (Look at me relaxing like its almost my day off) and still felt full, but not “about to bust” like I do when I eat 1 regular biscuit. People passing by kitchen sampled and agreed they were different, but tasted good. Everyone said, “MAKE MORE PLEASE!” Next I will try the cake mix. :D Do not let my ugly picture put you off from trying these. Its just hard for me to cook & take pictures while cleaning the kitchen at the same time. So the pictures were hurried, sorry. Also note we ate all I made without butter or jam. I'm sure they would be excellent with honey too. So they did taste better than they looked, lol I know I will be buying more of the mix. Ok, I have a few errands and then off to work this afternoon. Take care & talk soon!
OM! DId this come from MYSPACE?
Hey, How's it? The weather turned back off hot here so everyone is grumpy. :( One of my employees starts their vacation Monday so there is the normal mayhem that always brings. :X I was reading some of the older post & realized I O U a post or part 2 on Saving Money (#1 is here); a couple of product reviews, a Buc-ees post, and who knows what else?? I have started them all, but I am not ready to post yet. Yes, believe it or not I do edit before I post. (But do not read the Vicodin inspired posts as an example, I was healing/recovering from the oral surgery, K?) Free Blogging tip #102 Do not blog while taking meds. or drinking. :X Speaking of saying NO. Rick is in Tulsa and I made the mistake, (while texting no less) of telling him I was planning a trip to Vegas. So you can imagine how that went... Yep, it was just like that. * ___* Speaking of Rick I get questions about him, do I talk about him too much?? (I thought I talked about tacos too much? WTF?!?!) So yeah..back to Rick. He is a good guy who I kid a bit on here. He works as a freelance computer guru (hence the travel) & we date some. He lives in another state & visits occasionally. He has let me post about him because he wants more of my time & thinks this will stop other men from dating me. *Laughs at his failed logic!* Like I tell men I write this? LOL Ok back to Tacos! Guess what? Its Taco Day at work. So I'm off to the Taco Shack to pick up for the office. You know that's not what we are buying, but its just so damn cute I had to post it. :D
So let's recap-so far I've covered: Drugs, The Devil (Rick), Travel & food. (If you want to read more or an explanation click the links for more stories) I think this post should be complete. See ya & have a great weekend- |
