I hate to be the one to tell you this, but this not actually cooking.
Did the Gif Explode? I found this on Tumblr --I think it sums up my day pretty well. :X Ok back to the pain pills and the net. Hope you are having a lovely weekend. ;D Bye! This was a week... Loosing the Root Canal/Crowned tooth really slowed me down this week...I cancelled work meetings, movie night, Lunch with the Girls, a day of closet cleaning (oh boo hoo) and should have lost weight as I ate like nothing.. I had Oral Surgery to remove the REST of the tooth. Very bad deal. Very Bad. I didn't take any pictures of the surgery (are you disappointed?) They all would have looked more blurry than that one. (On the left) My dentist handed me my phone so I could send a text and tell people to stop worrying about me & stop texting! (So kind.) & I accidentally snapped that picture..??? WTF?? yeah meds.. AND- Last prescription I had filled was in France. Stickers Shock here in USA! OMG! More $$$$ flying out the door, What the Hell? But under good news.. More beauty masks arrived! So I did slow way down and rest. For a bit...Stopped and smelled the flowers, read a little, etc. But then I got back on track. (Work twice as hard to make up for lost time.) Yes! And Made time to Visit my neighbors...Please to see their cute dog.. And after loosing sooo many pictures I took the time to set up the "time capsule" back up. My other Passport would not open on the MAC of course. And I cannot find any of my Norway pictures. :( None, not a 1. I guess I forgot to upload to snapfish. Soo sad, but I guess this means I have to go back! (and learn to do a F'ing back up regularly.) And at a Antique Sale I found this old Travel Atlas. Check out the illustrations~ I just love old things like this! Texas- Corpus Christi (Just talked about Black Beards in Corpus, lol Found that pirate shirt when cleaning out back of closets) I'm pretty sure it NEVER looked like that, even in the 1960's.
But I just LOVE these old pictures. Ok I need to take another round of meds. So thats it for this post. (Hope it made a little bit of sense??) Have a good weekend & talk soon! Travel Related Questions This is a copulation of travel related questions I get. Some repeatedly. 1. Do you work in the travel industry? No 2. Are you a Travel Agent? No. I looked into it but don’t think I could make any real money doing it. (And it would limit my amount of time to travel, lol) 3. What are your least favorite airlines? Southwest & Ryan Air 4. Why? Southwest: If anything can go wrong it will & its feels like you are riding a greyhound bus & it smells. Ryan Air: The planes are OLD and smell like pee! (Staff has always been great on Ryan Air BTW) 5. Can you book me a flight/hotel/rent a car? No. But I can point you to some web sites though. 6. Favorite Beach destination? Not really a beach person. 7. Places you want to go but haven’t? Egypt to see the pyramids & cruise down the Nile. Haven’t gone because there is too much unrest in the country. There are a few other countries on that list too. Sigh maybe the wars will stop & people will just shut up & get along. 8. Next Vacation destination? Las Vegas, I guess. 9. Do you go on short getaways or only big trips? Well to be honest I don’t like to travel! (Bet you didn’t see that one coming!) BUT I like to ARRIVE so that’s why I try and stay as long as I can. But I do both… 10. Favorite City? Paris & London 11. Favorite US Cities? Austin, Texas, Seattle, Washington, San Francisco, California, Santa Fe, New Mexico, Colorado Springs, Colorado, NYC, Las Vegas, Nevada, Portland Oregon, & Boston. That’s just to name a few, lol! (That was in no particular order, ok?) 12. Favorite small town? Define small? I like small towns and villages a lot! 13.Least favorite place? Haiti (no offense) I don’t really care for the Caribbean so includes Jamaica too. 14. Favorite mode of travel? I like cruise ships and trains a lot. But I won’t say no to a private jet! 15. Most over-rated/touristy location you have ever been? Disney? It cost soo much and in the US you are a BAD parent unless you take your kids. The food is meh & expensive too. I just can’t make myself go back… 16. Most “pleasant surprise” location you have visited? Mm, that’s tough. Maybe Norway? It was great and I didn’t want to go. 17. I’m coming from EU for a visit to the States. What the best place to visit in USA? It depends on what you want to see & do? The Grand Canyon, Sedona, Washington DC, Smithsonian, NYC, Seattle, Florida, California, Texas (Had to include) lol It just depends. It’s like Europe in that you cannot plan to see everything in a month, much less a week. It’s better to take a month and pick 1 state and rent a car (Do not take the train or bus in the US you will not like it!) & explore based on your interests. 18. How many languages do you speak? ?? heeh hee some people would say NONE! :X 19. Does it cost a lot to travel? It can. Figure out how much you can spend and then add another 20%. Save that amount + and start looking at vacations. If it’s your 1st trip over seas I recommend you take a tour and have them book everything for you. (Especially if you don’t speak the language.) It costs more but you also have the company as a resource if anything goes wrong. 20. What’s the one place YOU MUST return to? Paris, of course. I also copied this on to the "About Me" Page. Later- "The doctor of the future will give no medication, but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, diet and in the cause and prevention of disease." ~Thomas Edison I'm Super Ultra Busy right now...(Meaning this is a SUPER SHORT POST) So it's even more important to eat right & make time for exercise. I have found a couple of good apps that are helping me. I hope to have time to review them shortly. I would like to try them for a month to 6 weeks before rating. Do you have a good app to share? Fresh is Best Everyone is gardening around here & is sharing produce! Thankfully with the latest rains the veggies are producing. So fresh Veggies everyday! Yeah! :D We have a long summer, but a short growing window due to the heat :( So it's get it while you can. LOL I will not bore you with Texas Veggie Pictures. (Unless you want to see them?) I also have French Veggie Pictures?? (No? Don't Care?) Alright then how about these roses? After I started rounding it up for that photo I realized JUST HOW MUCH of it I had! LOL and it's spread out through my house and office. Thank goodness for sales.
OH! I haven't forgotten- still sorting the Norway pictures. Promise to post on Rotterdam soon. Later- Going to the Dentist is not one of my favorite things. I was writing a terribly witty & informative post about a few of my many adventures in Rotterdam, Norway just a few minutes ago and eating Fritos (Don’t judge, ok?) When suddenly something crunched wrong and I lost a cap. Holy CRAP –A CAP? WTF? So after I realized: 1. I was NOT in any pain & 2. There was no blood. I relaxed, some. Because I really do not like going to the dentist. Don’t get me wrong, he is a nice guy & All the staff are super efficient and friendly too, but um NO! ++Its damn expensive in the States. And I’ve had some odd things happen while at the dentists’ office. Some time ago (before I found this dentist) I had another cap come off. I forget what I was eating, but I am sure it was something I should not have been. I had no local dentist so asked my then boss and he referred me to his dentist, next town over. Seemed ok, but he was afraid to put cap back on. He thought it might come off again. So after several visits (WTF? AM I made of $$) I just had him pull tooth already. Well then he was worried about something else (I forget what now) and wanted me to keep returning to his office. Bottom line--he started writing me letters, PERSONAL Letters…WTF?!? Creepy guy dentist…my boss was so embarrassed! Not like it was his fault. Although he was like “well he never writes me” …(Men, rolls eyes) WTF is wrong with ya’ll some times?? IDK.. Anyway, I have a good, not crazy or creepy dentist now. So that is going to be tomorrow’s adventure. And since I’m kind of freaked out now; am calling it a night. So the Norway post will have to wait. Wish me luck… Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry, but by demonstrating that all peoples cry, laugh, eat, worry, and die, it can introduce the idea that if we try and understand each other, we may even become friends.
Yeah! It's Cloudy!
Ok, I was waiting for a cloudy, cooler day to tackle today’s challenge. I want to “beautify” the smoking area at work. No, I don’t smoke, but some of the employees do and some of the customers do too. I went out to the area to talk to them and was like, WTF? This place is bad. It’s not dirty, they all pick up the butts and all, just meh. So I put a bench, some chairs, a small table out there. Now I would like a few plants to finish it. But it's already so hot that I needed to wait for a cooler day to purchase plants and repot them. Marigolds are pretty, but cannot take our heat. This is an Herb I cook with at home all the time. (I have 2 plants at home) and decided I was just going to buy this and a begonia and call it a day already. The sun came out & it was getting really warm. Begin to melt now.. *____ * If you WANT A GREEN THUMB: The trick to getting MOST plants to live is this. Repot them as soon as you get home. Do not WAIT. They are shipped in peat moss and the lightest weighing materials that DO NOT hold Water or offer room for the plants to grow. Repot immediately and read the label about sun exposure and how much water they need and your plants should do fine with a little TLC. RANT (Skip if you could care less about plants & $$) It’s one of my pet peeves when local stores sell plants that DO NOT GROW in our climate. It’s one thing to sell seasonal plants (like impatiences and marigolds) it’s another to sell something that is going to die in a day like bleeding hearts. A man brought me a lovely hanging basket last year that was a Bleeding heart. He paid $50USD + for it and I told him to take it back. It should not be sold in South Texas in JULY. He called the store and they told him it would do fine, just water it. Well anyone that knows plants knows that's just a crock of shit. He took it to his house and it was dead within 24 hours due to our heat. WTF?! Why they want to be SO CROOKED! Ok rant over-Back to normal now, sorta anyway... :0 I repotted the Basil So the sweet basil will last in our climate (with care) it cost $4.00USD and the Begonia was .98! The pots, dirt and other stuff I already had. So it didn't cost much and hopefully it will be brighter & nicer for our smokers a little.
Later- Hey All and Happy June. Hope it's going well for you so far. :D My plan for this weekend was to sequester myself at home and try and work on a closet or 2. Well the best laid plans and all that... I did mange to get a little bit of work done, then I found some new books stashed in a box and started reading, just for a short break. Then it was time to cook and then the day was just about gone. My nephew came over and brought his darling baby girl. So well *sigh*, I did mange to throw out some stuff, bag some stuff for Goodwill and find some MIA items too. Where does all this stuff come from?? Found stuff that I have no idea where it came from?? I actually am pretty ruthless about throwing stuff out. But clothes (and shoes) I have a tendency to hold on to. I move my winter/fall clothes to an upstairs closet for extra room. Keep the gowns (yes, I do go to the ballet, opera or other events now & again) in another closet so that I am not going through them every time I just need to find a suitable work dress. The exercise wear and "lazy house stuff" is packed in another closet. So there is stuff everywhere! LOL But each closet seems to look like this.. :( HOW?!? And Been awhile since I was last at Black Beards. Someone told me they had closed down. So I took a break (anything but clean, right?) and... Sounds like they had some "Ghost Hunters" types come by. Hmmm Go to their site and read more. Its a cool place if you are in Corpus to hear some good music and eat. The prices are good and the place is clean. They were there before Pirates were cool. BTW But there actually were Pirates in Texas a long time ago. Old coins are still known to wash up on the shore after a big storm in the gulf... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- While I was on line I checked my email that I had been ignoring most of the day-- And Groupon is sending me all kind of ODD Activities: and someone was kind enough to explain blogging to me.. These (Below) were the top views for May..So I guess it's traveling in general not "places" you want to hear about? Except that "Rules of Travel" post is about, well my mis-adventure with a hot celeb. & a creepy guy..lol (and some humor) So what to make of that?? *____* I will try and work on a post about booking the best rates in UK/EU when traveling. Soon, after I get my house tidy again.
Take care- |
