As I look back on this year, with the 4th of July just around the corner, I confess that 2017 has been a mild, mellow ride; I’ve celebrated wonderfully unforgettable moments but have also traveled far less than I normally do. This is a travel year for so many people, but for my family, it has been a year of healing and feathering the nest. Life has a funny way of doling out surprises — one day is never like another. Some days I feel as though I’m resting atop a beautiful mountain and others I am sitting at its bottom, the only view uphill. Work has been changing for me, evolving and growing, which is great, but it is taking more and more of my time. Don't misunderstand, I’m grateful and truly blessed. My family is healthy, happy and I’m doing what I love, but travel is taking a back seat. I’ve cancelled or postponed more trips than I have completed this year. But I did manage to go to Iceland and visit a couple of favorite spots so far. To read more about Iceland click here and here or hit the tag. Since I haven't left New Mexico much this year, most of my time has been spent learning more about the area via short day trips and weekend road trips. There are many cool parks, nature areas and events close by. I almost forgot... I did manage to squeeze some time out for fun in New York. Read about some of those adventures here.
I think next year will see us traveling much more and I know 2019 we will be leaving for Asia and MAJOR adventures there. #Excited So this time in New Mexico is much needed as we plan the trip and work out the details. I cannot wait to see what the next 6 months bring! See you at the airport~ Hi, How are things? Between work and adventuring it's been a busy year so far! I have managed to write a bit of the Iceland adventure up in multiple post and answer some of the questions you have asked. Here is a list of the top blog post for February 2017 if you missed any. I'm not complaining though - I like adventure and It’s been a busy year so far, both for work and travel. The trip posts in Februarys were of course, relating to my trips to NYC and Iceland. Here are the top, most clicked post for February, encase you missed them. Iceland Answers This post was mostly answering the questions people asked me most often about Iceland. "How Cold is it?" "What the hell do you eat there?" Etc. Mostly it was silly shite like that, with 31 random pictures of stuff in Iceland. What Are you Reading? Guess what this post was about? lol This post contains 7 pictures of the illustrations from the Japanese art book I was reading and a little information about the films/TV shows being filmed in my area. #OnPoint I was surprised so many people clicked it. Or gave a flip about what I was reading, although I do get asked often "off line".... Top 25 Travel Quotes Another Guess what this post was covering? LOL These are some of my favorite and most used travel quotes. I feel they convey, way better than I ever could, the joy, mystery and love traveling is for me. Instagram Explained This was a random catch up to explain some of the craziness I have been posting on IG. Eight (8) random images and sort of an explanation. Scared of Solo Travel This was just a dumb meme/short post I wrote in January. It's popularity shows me you want more posts about solo travel, or my fears or something scary. I will endeavor to do all of the above shortly. The Week After Christmas Random post with 15 random pictures. I was wine shopping for a New Year's Eve party and bitching about the cold. #GoodTimes Thank you for taking the time to read my silly little blog. I hope you enjoyed these posts and found them helpful or at least funny! March promises to be an amazing month!
See you at the airport~ Okay, It's actually just a few days after Christmas and a still few days till the new year. I'm already back at work, big surprise, yeah? Well, to be more accurate I'm attempting to work. See, not a soul actually works this week. Even if you are in the office, you can't really work because all the people you need to deal with are out on vacation for the holidays, of course. #FML I haven't bought all that much since Christmas, if you exclude food, lol. Just picked up a few things online. I really need to start shopping for all the upcoming trips. #Nothing2Wear Thank goodness for Amazon Pantry, lol. The fruit stash was running low! I finally got a chance to try this new tea. It was one of the teas included in the Vegan Cuts December snack box, remember? (Click here to see it.) It was really good and flavorful. If you like licorice you will like it. I will definitely be buying a box. #Score I know I talk about having wanderlust, but honestly it's lovely to just sit by the fireplace and drink tea. Its been cold lately, but it is winter after all and I don't particularly want to go anywhere. I was invited to a couple of New Years Eve parties. So I may have to leave the fire long enough to make an appearance at least. And Yes, yes I know say that every year and end up going and staying longer than I intended and having a great time. I know, I know… So I made another trip into town to purchase champagne or wine or something for the parties. There were so many different kinds and lots of pretty bottles. #Shiny Not as pretty of course, but good wine!
I hope you have a great New Year! It's hard to believe but on the 22nd my blog will be 4 years old! So much has happened in the last 4 years I can't even begin to list it all. My life has changed in so many amazing ways and I have met so many awesome people over the last 4 years. I started this blog as a personal way to keep up with my trips, odd purchases, best cafe finds, life events and recipes. You know, personal shit that no one would care about but me, but somehow you found it and read my posts, then came back for more. #WTF?! But seriously, since 2012 it has evolved into so much more. I have shared much more of my personal life than I ever thought I would, but I have also met some incredible people too. You still don't leave comments on the posts, but email me wonderful messages. Thank you for your continued support and love! If you want to read the beginning posts…they are short of course, Click here. Mostly it's Chritsmas stuff, me bitching about my mother and talking about the world not ending. Do you remember that was a big thing way back in 2012? Since 2012 I have written 350 blog posts under “Travel” - Meanwhile “Loot” has 105 entries while “Food” has a huge 242 posts, not surprisingly 69 of those were “Vegan”. “TMI” 42 - soon to be 43 as I will file this under that topic, lol. Surprisingly I only have 25 entries on “Dating” yet every month I am asked dating advice and those posts are read religiously. Shaking my head, ya'll know I'm divorced, right? You've seen my hair change colour many times over the years. You have also seen my obsession with filters and stickers and you have pardoned my blurring photos. But most importantly you have continued to read my random nonsense. I want to say thank you! And thank you for putting up with my long absences, which are growing more and more frequent. Thank you for reading, your kind emails and your friendship. It means the world to me! 2017 looks likes it going to be a crazy, fast paced year full of adventures. I hope you can come along for the ride! Hello and Goodbye August~ I hope you had a good time? It seemed to fly by here. I managed to do a few blog posts - mostly short, nonsensical and sublimely short. Below I have collected the most popular, maybe not the BEST for the month, but the numbers say these were the most read. I have no idea why you seemed to read and revisit these entries more than the others? But if you missed one or two (they are small, have two) here is your chance to catch up. Best for August 2016: Lighten up = Most recent post in August, random as Hell but now with a cat! Lol Are you tired of looking at blurry mountain pictures? Hope not! Because I am still in awe every time I see the mountains and snap about a 100 picts. Average August Day - One more Day of me roaming around looking for produce. More Vegan Food Porn = I would have suggested this one. It has an actual recipe and too many pictures! Birthday Weekend = Most of August was Birthday themed, but I also didn't share too much of the personal stuff. If you are a regular here you know why. (Rolls eyes) Meaning all these are short, quick meaningless posts. Mexican Food for the Win! = Sarah finally sits down at a restaurant and forgets to take pictures of the food! Birthday Fun Continues = Random pictures - most went on Snapchat - A toad came to visit and other odd shit. September looks to be busy. I have a trip to Santa Fe planned next week (I'm going via the train!) I have a trip to an old mining town scheduled for the following week + new restaurants I want to try and of course work, shopping, spamming you with nice cream pictures, etc. You know the usual stuff. :D So stay tuned and thank you for your continued support of my silly little blog- I appreciate it and your feedback and all the lovely birthday wishes. See you at the airport~ Hello June! Now that May is gone its time to look at the most clicked random bits as we do every month. May was a busy month, meaning I was lazy and didn't post much. #Fail But none the less, you stuck it out and returned to read more of my silly blog. For May 2016 the Most clicked (but maybe not the Best posts) were: Native American Pueblo -Post from May 6, 2016, from my latest trip to New Mexico. I still have more to post from this trip, including more from the Native American town, shopping in ABQ and other adventures. One day, I will catch up, but in the meantime read it if you haven't already. Eat To Thrive - May post showing my Thrive food order and the May Vegan Cuts box and more random food. 18+ pictures of random Vegan goodness. No real review because I have not had time to even eat the goodies yet. Hello May - Short post of me leaving Texas on a road trip. As usual more pictures than text and random as Hell. Texas Again - May 14, 2016, post of me returning to Texas. (I flew into Austin on this trip.) As usual the first thing I did was go for tacos, lol. When not having tacos I was busy "not" cooking vegan recipes. Most of my other post were random crap from other months that scored lots of views. (Why? I have no idea.) But thank you for reading, bookmarking and returning. If there is something in particular you want to read about do leave me a comment below. I always enjoy hearing from my readers, haters non withstanding.
June will probably be pretty much the same nonsense as May, as we settle into our new digs. Want to see glamours pictures of unpacking boxes and measuring windows for new drapes? Well, get ready, lol. See you at the airport (and the home furnishing store!) So hello again, As I set to write more on this blog I laugh to myself about what (or how little I actually write here) for example, this is what I want to write: "Suddenly bewitched by an errant butterfly, (or something about as bizarre), the bewildered athlete made a wrong turn and left the race course. Without warning he was in the middle of speeding, angry autos and oncoming traffic. Somehow, and rather miraculously, I might add, he made a narrow escape around two Peugeot into a medieval, crooked alley way. It was apparent he used all his training to defy gravity and escape the traffic; stunned in to open mouthed silence, we watched from the side walk cafe, not more than a few feet away. I was so discouraged by his near death that I could hardly finish my cappuccino.." But instead I will just take a shy picture of my drink and write how delicious it was. #Fail
I ask myself why? Is it because I fear judgement? Will you judge my writing and find it puerile and gauche? So instead I write nothing? The stories are after all what make the trips so much more than just airline miles. But I find I usually do not share them. Again I ask myself why? Odd, no? Maybe it's just France that makes me behave this way, I don't know.. Bonne nuit~ Hello and welcome new people ~ Every month I list the top clicked posts, they are not usually the best stories, but for some unknown reason they are the most visited. Excited yet? lol March was an odd month for me, I travelled a bit, but also put my head down and worked. There are so many new projects at the office, plus I'm in the process of moving house, which is a HUGE ordeal and there was family drama as well. But all that aside, here is the list for March 2016: #1. Passion for Travel -A sorta random post about my life. Complete with stickers, vegan candy and me rocking zombie eye bags. What's not to love? #2. Roswell New Mexico - 23 Pictures from the recent trip. Huge amount of blurry aliens and silly t-shirts. Feel the love of this quaint alien invasion inspired town. #3. March is Better with Wildflowers - 4 pictures, plus 1 short video of the wildflowers. This is a random as hell post. #4 Ode to February Fun -This type of post, but only the BEST of February. Check it out if you missed anything.
#5.Start the Weekend Early - Short random post talking about I'm busy, (Well duh) and promising to write more. #Lies&MoreLies Okay, that was the top 5 posts - if you click on the Roswell Post you will see links to more of the New Mexico Adventures. I think I ended up with 4 or 5 posts all together and still have more pictures and videos. The Spring Break Holiday post is silly and full of stickers and random airport pictures. 16 pictures total including a pictures from the plane looking down over Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas, USA. Thankfully the weather is moving into spring and the wildflowers are blooming again and I did manage some better photos, (hopefully). I shall attempt to post them soon. Truthfully, I really haven't felt like blogging much lately. So please just humor we on these posts okay? Better stuff is coming, I shall write about my move soon. The move is something normally I would never mention, much less chronical (really) - but I think it will be helpful and interesting, plus you probably need a good laugh, too and it has been a really funny adventure. I have no idea how you found me or actually why you are here, but you are welcome to read, look around and leave a comment. :D See you at the airport~ |
