Look what happened now...
Ready, Set, Jet!
|
We made our annual trip to Roswell at the beginning of September. The weather was good, and just about everything was open. We overate, shopped a bit, and had a few adventures. I always meet interesting people there, lol I didn't take any fanatic pictures or, well, any many pictures at all this trip.
But it was nice to get away...we stayed a week and then came home and repacked for a month-long road trip in Texas. While in Texas, we made another detour to meet up with friends at Boerne City Lake Park in Boerne, Texas. (Find it: 21 Upper Cibolo Creek Rd, 78006) The lake is approximately 1 mile northwest of Boerne off of Upper Cibolo Creek Road. Their website is here. The weather was perfect! We lazed around, had a picnic, and just relaxed. Because it was during the week, we had the place almost entirely to ourselves. And then it was time to go because there was a Hurricane building in the Gulf, and the weather was getting unpredictable. I do miss the meet-ups with friends and lazy days spent outside, just chilling. (But not enough to move back, lol)
More about this month-long trip later. I'm counting the days down to vacation and spending as much time as I can outside. I took these picture this week with my iPhone 12 Pro Max and must say it hasn't disappointed. I'm so ready to go on vacation and see how it does on random nature shots. We were supposed to be in Greece this month, but between covid and the wildfires it wasn't meant to be. BUT there are many other places on my travel list that I can't wait to explore. And I do truly believe nature is cheaper than therapy! What do you think? Pretty decent pictures for a iPhone.
Speak soon~ Roadtrips later in the year mean finding fun at home this summer. July has been about fresh fruit, eating healthier, and catching up with old friends. (Okay, primarily online, but still.) I tried blackberry smoothies, baked way too much and also did a bit of gardening. I'm still looking for a good summer read, as I power through my TBR pile of books and is it me, or is there NOTHING on TV right now?? It hasn't been a bad month, just rather uneventful.
Catch up with you soon~ June was such a busy month I had no time to post! Between working, writing, and exploring, I came home, crawled into bed, and slept like a baby. There have been some dramatic sunsets and some frightening fires, flooding and hot weather this summer. New Mexico is experiencing fires and monsoons...so that it has been an adventure just driving down the mountain. I have been binge-reading rather than watching Netflix. And will have a few new book reviews up for you shortly.
Right now, I'm late for a dinner date in town and need to at least brush my hair before I make the trip down the mountain, Have a great July, and I promise to be back soon with more recipes and reviews. Later~
Think Again: Power of Knowing What You Don't Know
by Adam Grant This was a recommended book from a friend and I'm devouring it. It has enough stories to offset statistics and is anything but another dry psychologist theory self-help book. Direct quote, "Intelligence is traditionally viewed as the ability to think and learn. Yet in a turbulent world, there's another set of cognitive skills that might matter more: the ability to rethink and unlearn." I'm finding it very entertaining as well as informative. You can learn more about the book here:
What I'm Watching: Debris
Looking for something new to watch? Debris is a new American science fiction television series. It is on NBC and premiered on March 1, 2021. The premise of the series is that debris from an alien spacecraft begins to fall to earth and causes all sorts of odd occurrences and problems. Then add in world governments trying to weaponize the debris and people coming into contact with it on accident and having supernatural experiences and you get a nice mix of chaos, horror, and government intrigue.
What I'm Cooking:
Smoothies! It's finally warming up enough for smoothies! I know it's not a revolutionary recipe but I have perfected the blueberry, banana, coconut, and almond slivers procedure! Okay, so mainly I just dump everything in the blender and call it breakfast.. but when simple works you stick with it!
Have a great weekend!
This post contains links to buy the book on Amazon, I receive a few pennies if you purchase (the price doesn't change for you) and it helps to offset the cost of the website. Okay, it might be wishful thinking as we had snow on the 16th, lol But the calendar says Spring is here and I'm going with it!
Hope you have an amazing Spring where ever you are in the world! I will be back soon with more reviews and maybe some actual trip pictures! |
