Hello from Texas! How are things going? August is speeding by, or so it seems. I hope you are finding time to relax and enjoy yourself. The heat is still awful here, but we are making the best of it. I try to only go out early in the morning (hello sunrise!) or after 8:00 pm. But this isn't as bad as it sounds, this gives me free time in the day to read, nap and write. (Best vacation EVER!) As of today (August 10, 2022) I have posted four times on this blog in August! Now they haven't been Pulitzer Prize winning essays but I do deserve a B for effort, lol. I'm working on more book reviews, recipes and more videos as well. BUT I am guilty of only remembering to take photos AFTER we eat or return home. But I promise to do better, next trip. Speaking of videos, I have uploaded six new videos this month. Most are shorts, except for Part One of a Summer Roadtrip. Check it out if you are bored. A summer storm blowing in and I'm taking full advantage of it- Lighting candles, making a snack and grabbing a book. The kettle is on and all is right in the world. Where ever you are in the world, make sure you take time today to do something that feeds your soul and gives you pleasure.
This is your life, live it your way. Hi! How are you?
If you are bored and want a blast of travel goodness, scenery from the southwest and picture of critters, I got you. Check out my "shorts" playlist for that and more random goodness! Most clips are under 30 seconds and should shift your mood and maybe even inspire you to travel. Speak soon~ How are things? Super busy here with work and life...I needed a break so we took a quick trip to the Isleta Casino in Albuquerque. It's back to business as usual now. #YEAH! It was really great to get out, but now I'm back at work. (Insert sad face)
But it's okay, I have several BIG trips coming up this summer so I don't mind. Stay tuned for more recipes, and travel adventures. Hey, Hey! Hope your week is going good! The weather has been very good lately so I've been out exploring! I wanted to learn more about the Acequias (Irrigation ditches) that are in my area. Some of these ditches date back 400 years! The Spanish built these to irritate what is now souther Colorado to central New Mexico. Some have been redone and others look very much like they did when they were first built. I created a short video here if you want to check one out. In an area where it almost NEVER rains seeing water flowing seems almost unbelievable. Besides all the history associated with the water ditches there are also politics as the state grows and changes. You can google if you want to know more, I don't feel qualified to weight in on it.
I have another out of state trip planned in two weeks so I need to get packing.. Hope you are having a fantastic day!
Travel is such a bother right now, but luckily my trusty iPhone decided to unearth some memories today and found some lost footage of a visit to Inverness and Culloden. I made a very short video, enjoy! Tropical Depression/Hurricane Nicholas snuck up on us. We were already on the road to Texas when it hit. But we were still over 100+ miles away from the Gulf Coast and managed to miss most of the rain. It was downgraded to a tropical depression this morning and is dragging itself slowly over southeast Texas, leaving thousands in the dark and dumping a foot of rain. #OMG! While waiting for the storm to pass, we decided to stay north of the Gulf Coast and visited River Park in Boerne, Texas. We had a lovely picnic on the river and avoided most of the weather. The river was up due to the rains, but it was a nice break. There was plenty of wildlife out enjoying the overcast skies, and I'm sure, avoiding the high winds and rain south of us.. If you need a break watch the video...
