Ready, Set, Jet!

There has been very little rain this winter and into spring in south Texas. So there aren't very many wildflowers. But here are a few I have been able to capture. The main thing about stopping on the side of the road to take the pictures is where there are flowers there are ALWAYS snakes. So added level of difficulty + 100, thank you very much! *Oh & Some of these were taken with Iphone4, Ipad and Fuji Camera. So quality does vary. Indian Paintbrush Last year I was all over it! Taking 100s of pictures and posting, editing, sending to friends, etc. This year, meh. There really isn't much of a display. And... If you follow me on twitter you know that my new neighbors weed sprayed some of my plants! Killing my passion vines, roses and one other plant (I can't remember the name of!) Arggg - Am trying to keep my cool, but come on... So its taken the fun out of gardening and flower watching for me this year + Pansy - not wildflower. Nettie planted these at her office. In her spare time..lol It's already warm.. One more "planted" flower These are really tiny, small flowers. Gardner told me they were climbing roses and planted them. I told him, “No, not roses and do not plant.” And he still planted them. They only bloom for a short time; all at once and then NOTHING but crazy ass vines everywhere. :( But I just can’t see digging them up since they are established and all. But I do not care for them. See crazy vines? and NOT ROSES Anyway-- If I can slow down enough I shall attempt some pictures of all the other wildflowers. We had significant rain and wind (Hence the neighbors tree blowing down on my greenhouse* Once again-if you follow me on twitter. lol) But I am in over drive with the upcoming trip to New Orleans and all the other projects. So probably not. Talk soon- Earlier a friend asked me if I could pick up his daughter from her job at our local Subway. I said sure. As I fetched her home she related this story to me: She was working when an older man (she is 20 so use your imagination) came in and said that he just drove 20 miles for 2 Subway sandwiches. (This is rural Texas so that's not that odd) He asked her how she liked working at Subway, as she made his order. She told him honestly that she was just there to pay for college. They discussed education and he agreed that it was the most important thing. He then asked her how much her next tuition payment was and she said, "$250." He paid for his sandwiches and said, "I'll be right back." Then left the store. The man then returned with a check for $250.USD and handed it to her.
He was Giving her the next tuition payment! He only asked that she send him a thank you note with a copy of the receipt showing she had made the payment. She was speechless! She remembered herself and thanked him as he left. :0 So nice things do happen everyday, don't they?! I just love stories like this of random acts of kindness. I asked her if she recognized the name on the check *still in her hand and she said," No, he's from the next town over." :0 Hello, hope your having a good weekend. Busy here, as usual. I went off Friday in search of a gift & guest room decor - came back with a card case and new earrings. Seems right, no?!
I really didn't see anything I liked at all. Then an employee called, then a client, so I just gave up playing at shopping and went back to office. Oh we'll... I have two lovely card cases, but one is too large & the other is sterling silver & has to be polished daily. (Who thought that would be fun?)
So when I saw this I snapped it up. It is faux alligator. (Snapped, get it..lol Sorry I stop now.) but really I could never carry/use/deal with a real one! Ewwe If that's your thing, cool. But it's not mine. Moving on- It should hold just enough cards, not take up 1/2 my purse or need to be polished.
But I do have to polish the earrings. They are .925 Sterling Siver. I really like the design & I have quite a few blue Topaz pieces. So they should work into my Jewelry wardrobe quite nicely. There are times when I pick out the jewelry I want to wear before I pick out the clothes. Crazy, huh? I really prefer gold over silver, but the price is so crazy now. The same earrings in gold would have been over $700.USD - As opposed to sterling silver only $175.USD & that's way too much for casual jewelry, or so I believe. Ok, enough of this I have a dinner date so I'm off- So it's Friday! Hope you had a good week. I did although after taking off some last week I seem to have the summer time blues, already. WTF it's going to be a long summer at this rate. I created a "about me" page on here. Then didn't know what to write..WTF?!? Well it was about 2:45 a.m. and I should have been sleeping, but...anyway. I really am shy, so I just copied a 25 questions that someone sent me. (With my own answers though) but it doesn't really tell you anything. I don't like sushi & my computer & cell are usually always near me. Cool, complex & Fascinating, huh? This week has been oddly mellow *not complaining * so not much to write about, for a change. So I'm off buy lunch for the crew at work (as Opposed to the Krewe - which is my gang of friends) then we are taking the rest of the day off! Don't you wish you worked here?! Lol
More soon! "When I had youth I had no money; now I have the money I have no time; and when I get the time, if I ever do, I shall have no health to enjoy life. I suppose it's the discipline I need; but it's rather hard to love the things I do, and see them go by because duty chains me to my galley. If I ever come into port with all sails set, that will be my reward perhaps. "
Louisa May Alcott Those that know me, know that I love, love, love flowers! One of my favorite flowers is the waterlily. I put in 3 small fish ponds in my backyard & have flowers blooming all summer long. (Plus flowersbeds too & a herb garden & etc. ) but we are talking about waterplants now...So anyway, I love sitting out under the moonlight, listening to the night sounds by the ponds & enjoying the tropical night blooming flowers. Best way to relax after a hard day. (Also put in jacuzzi it's nice too lol) But back to quilt...
So in Jan. I went to visit my friend Annette (Nettie) at work & she showed me her latest project... A waterlily quilt! She HANDMADE this quilt. How awesome is that? I instantly asked her what she was going to do with it. (as in - was it a wedding gift or promised to someone?) She crafts & makes all kinds of wonderful stuff, so you never know.
She does all this while working full time, taking care of a lg ranch & her family. (Stop it! Your making the rest of us look bad! WTF) anyway, She is Very, talented & always super busy like me. (Although I'm not sure what I'm busy doing most of the time!?) The quilt is extra large king size & I really need to take it home to photograph it properly, lol. But you get the jest of it! Am so excited! So anyway, I bought the quilt. But had to wait as she showed it in a quilt show & I just picked it up today. Super love it!
Now I'm going to redo my guest room around the quilt, I think. I don't have a "country" theme so this should be fun.

Just because I race home to shorts and tank tops, cut offs and flip flops, doesn't mean I don't love fashion. I dress up for the ballet, the opera, sometimes for a date or a event. You tell me & we will both know.... Where are you at the moment? At the office. Working. Can't you tell? about 7 hours ago Too Much Info, I know. Later- This is Your Life...Someone sent me this I did not make it.... April seems like its going to be a busy month. What with work, (of course) & a few home projects + I have a short trip to the beach with a couple of friends. Our goal is to get there before the weather turns off to 104'F (I kid you not) and I want to revisit some of the old missions deeper in the south, plus maybe go dancing a night or two; and the trip to New Orleans later in the month. BFF is trying to get me to Vegas for a weekend, but do not see how 0___0 No rest in April. But its ok, because I am doing what I love. Working hard at a job I love, helping my family and friends and exploring. What else could I ask for? |
