Ready, Set, Jet!

How are things? Busy as fuck here. Really. I'm on the road again soon and trying to get the last minute things sorted. Everything from shopping to shipping needs to be done. Have I ever travelled before? Seem like I don't know how... Before I left I made one more fruit run... I see nice cream in the future! Lol I'm very much enjoying my new Aura Borealis mug. #GeekOut Hopefully it's a sign I will be Iceland to enjoy the real thing this winter. It does not photograph well.... But you get the idea... Cool, right? Speaking on not photographing well...
See you at the airport~ Yes, That is one HUGE avocado It should be, it cost me $1.50US but as I stood in the produce department lost in thought over the pros and cons of spending that much for 1 avocado, I thought what am I doing? I love them, they are super healthy and it's not that MUCH. But the more I thought on it, the more I wondered why it is still so hard for me to spend more on good veg? They are organic, healthy and a filling meal. So why am I complaining? Why did I hestate to put them in the bag? I think I still have the mindset that I shouldn't pay that much for vegetables or fruit. Even though thats mostly all I eat. I remmeber what they used to cost and it sucks they are so expensesive now, but everything has gone up. I don't eat fast food, God only knows what that costs now a days. *Note: I do not count tacos as fast food, ok? Speaking of prices, here is more sticker shock from a recent shopping adventure: There would be more photos, but I received a call while in the store and had to leave. So I only spent $110.USD (mostly on nuts and fruit). That's 2 cases of water making my trolley look so full. Everyone here in South Texas drinks bottled water. No one drinks tap water. The city says it safe, but it smells of chlorine and tastes awful. To be honest, it also breaks out my skin if I stay in the shower or bath too long. It's just not pleasant. I am so used to drinking bottled water, that when I travel I also purchase bottled water, much to the shock of the locals. I'm sure your tap water is great, but here in the land of oil and fracking it seem like we would be much better off drinking bottled water. So don't be a hater. And who doesn't want to kill parasites, have glowing skin and sleep better? I'm in! Life is good again. All it took was a basket full of fruit and veg.
Todays breakfast was a very filling smoothy made with organic blackberries, over ripe bananas, and with just a splash of (not tap water) almond milk. It was delicious purple goodness. See you at the airport- It's hard to believe, but this Blog is about to have a birthday. Making it a Sagittarius, which makes total sense as it's all about adventure and putting my foot in my mouth, just like a real Sagittarius.#WTF?! I started Blogging here on Dec. 2012. (Read the sad little post here.) I was talking about the end of the World (A good time to start a blog, right? #WTF was I thinking?) So after I realized the world wasn't going to end, I started sharing random bits and pieces of my life. As I go back over the archives I am amazed at some of the posts. Cringing and crying at a few of them... Way back then (cue the Wavy lines and time warp music) I took more time editing the pictures, putting stickers on and cute borders... Now the pictures are better quality (I think) and less cutesy. Your welcome. I also never showed my face in the blog. I figured no one wanted to see who I was and maybe I was too old to be blogging such dumb ass shit. Now I don't really care, I post blurry pictures of myself all the time, lol and am proud of my age, (Sorta.) I still write about my travels, shopping and my friends some. I don't post pictures of them, because I want to keep them in my life and not have them hating me. #Truth I stay vague and then they can't tell if I am speaking about them or someone on another continent. Plus most of the people in Texas really do carry guns... I still don't write too much personal information. I am private, plus I figure you don't want to read all the drama any more than I want to write it. Just about every month I do the "Best of the Month" for the most clicked on blog posts and I promise to write more on the topic of dating. It's usually always in the top 5 of the most read/shared/clicked on posts. Every month I usually write nothing more on dating. Why? Because I don't care, and Dating is HARD WORK + some men are EVIL bastards, (you know who I'm talking about) so I am sour on the whole dating topic for a bit longer. Oh and I got married again. Did I tell you that? Maybe one day I will talk about it, but not today.
I also seem to be traveling a lot more. So more of the posts are travel themed, about time, right? The post vary around the amount of time I have and the quality of my wifi connection, lol, since I'm usually late for the next adventure. Also lately I've been working hard on moving from life long vegetarian to vegan. Plus I really like the idea of RAW not cooking. So I have posted a few recipes, shopping hauls, and write a bit about the difficulties making the transition. There have been many other changes here, but mostly the fact that as I get older I am more comfortable being who I am. I noticed it in the posts and see it the mirror, I think the success of the blog has had a lot to do with that. So go cut yourself an extra big piece of birthday cake, (Don't worry its raw vegan after all) and know that I do appreciate you taking the time to come back day after day to read my silly ramblings. Thank you for reading this little blog for 3 years now - you rock! Meanwhile in Texas.. The sky really is different here. The sky is just BIGGER and the sun light is just different. I'm sure it's due to the high UV. (Sizzle, sizzle.) * _____ * But it does make for some of the most magical and dramatic sunsets I have ever seen. When I'm not standing outside taking photos of the BIG sky and making my neighbors nervous, I seem to be online shopping for travel gear, actually on line shopping seems to be my current obsession. After being in a minimalist state of mind (How was I going to carry everything back from Europe?) the last year, I seem to be making up for it these last few months. But I keep rationalizing it as stuff we need. My son required a new travel backpack and about 100+ other things for our next trip. So we have been keeping the American Economy afloat lately, no need to thank us. And my newest obsession is Philosophy 'Pure Grace'. It smells so good! Have you tried it yet? First Christmas gift of the year. Unless you count all the crap I bought for myself, lol
I'm packing today - for travel Monday. So be on the look out for new travel posts. Catch you later- So mostly these days I am working, shopping on line, working some more and planning my next trip. Here is a bit of loot that arrived yesterday. I bought two of the "I survived the TSA" bags. I have no idea what I'm gonna put in them, but you can never have enough containers when you travel. Plus anyone who travels much in the USA knows there are some trip you deserve a metal for the crap the TSA put you through.. That was no filter or edit. Just a bad zoom on the IPAD and I cut my neighbors house off so that you couldn't see them. They are pretty paranoid anyway (really, I'm not joking) and now add me outside at random times of the day and night taking pictures of the sky... I always try to make sure I'm not wearing my Illuminati t-shirt at the time. See you at the airport-
#msoneworld4me Meanwhile in South Texas... I am back on my #CleanEating plan and feeling so, so much better! I am fortunate here, to be surrounded by so much delicious & healthy produce! The prices aren't too bad, compared to the English prices I paid this summer. #Truth But other things are more expensive here. So it's a trade off. Today I just bought veggies and no household stuff. Here is what I ended up: 1 "personal" #WTF? Watermelon that is not pictured. I forgot to snap a pix of it, its cute, though trust me. Mushrooms, Raspberries, tomatoes, bananas, coconut flakes, cashews, cauliflower, lemons, almond milk, kiwi, green leaf lettuce and dates. I bought a lot more veggies, attempting to eat better and because I was starving. This healthy detox cleanse is working, but I am SO hungry. Oh wait I also bought organic carrots and yellow squash. See? It's a BIG BAG. It's a recycled chicken feed bag that has been cleaned and sown into a heavy duty shopping bag. I really like it, because it doesn't feel like it is going to rip when I use it. I have a tendency to over pack the groceries and have ripped so many bags... For my son I also bought Vegan Cheese, Oreo Cookies (do not Judge me!) and 10lbs of cat food. (Not for my son, but for Mystic.) Please say hello Mystic... We are trying this out next. #Organic toothpaste! My son does not like mint (anything) and we wanted a more "healthy/green" alternative. There will be a review up this week (hopefully).
So whats in your shopping bag? I'd love to see. Thank goodness most of what I bought is still in season and therefore more affordable. I'm off to make a tasty raw dinner for the family and then back to planning my next trip. See you at the airport! After my company left, I went on another adventure. (read about our trips to Scotland here and Here.) My son and I traveled to Saint Anne's by the Sea. It is in the general area of Black Pool (read about out Christmas in that area last year) but further south. This was our first visit to this lovely sea side town. We rented a small gite (Holiday house) and stayed 4 days. These are a completion of pictures from those days. We were on the beach, on the pier/promenade and in town. I must confess I have a weird accent. Most people are surprised when I speak. (Its ironic because I am recorded often for work. But thats a whole other story, on a totally different blog.) I've always read those horror books starring mysterious immortals, where their accent was so hard to trace, that I ended up being one. (Not immortal, just a fucked up accent.) It also is apparent if you spend anytime reading this blog, my choice in words belies my language skills.Sometimes I think in American or Spanish or French. My Mandarin is not that good...But the point to this ramble is: I now live in the Lake District of England. As I travel England, Scotland, etc (see recent blog posts already) I am asked where I come from. I usually reply, "Can't you tell from my accent?" Knowing full well the people cannot. "I live in Cumbria!" (see map) I usually receive a SUPER shocked look. Then I'm asked if I come from Canada. (WTF?) No one seems to ever think I come from the states, much less TEXAS, Anyway, back to the point here, I currently hang my hat (Tall, Texas Stetson, not) in Cumbria. While my NOLA buddy was in town visiting we endeavored to show her why it is considered the prettiest part of England. Here a few of our many pictures and some of the adventures. Please to enjoy a bit of the lakes... We also stopped at Rheged, on the way. Read about #Minecraft here. After that we went top Castlerigg. I had heard of this one, but never visited before. A 4,500 years old stone circle! As you can see from the pictures, there was a TON of people there. There was a convention going on, plus normal lake tourists. "Part 2 In The Lakes" to follow and more on Scotland, shopping and even the #Outlander tour we went on in next post.
Have a good week and see you at the airport! Today we headed across England (I'm living in the Lake District) to Ikea in Newcastle. It took a couple of hours, but we took a scenic route and didn't rush, because getting there is 1/2 the fun! Actually in May we plugged in a address (I think for the IKEA in Roundrock, Texas) in the hotel room, and left. We went to IKEA and did other shopping and drove back. Waze guided us all the way back, even to the lift and our room! Too Crazy! But Waze rocks- It really helped us with the traffic in Austin and San Antonio during the Texas visit. From highway pot wholes to police on the road, it is a good app to have. But back to the UK Ikea trip. We went for office supplies and to look at bed frames, etc. Back home to more flowers! I am so spoilt now, lol.
July is here and the trip to #Scotland is not planned. (Panic mode is sitting in!) I have company arriving soon and house is not ready (Double the PANIC!) and all I want to do is work in then garden and shop at IKEA! #FML Stay tuned for more hastily thrown together house pictures. +More shopping, gardening and walks around #England. See you at the airport (And maybe in Scotland!) ~ |
