This is a Fab Fit Fun Update See original post here. After I had problems with my 1st box I went to the site and talked to CS, on the 11th. In the process I saw so, so, so many horrible reviews! Mostly about customers service (OMG) and ship time/response time. And also the reviews read like if you are in Canada you are screwed. (Sorry friends in Canada) I actually spoke to one of my (non Canadian) GF ’s about the company….she has been getting the boxes for over a year and can’t say enough good about them. She assured me they would fix the problems and I should just sit tight. She also loves the “add ons” and other perks they offer. I told her I would wait and see how this worked out before I upgraded. #ImLikeThat So fast forward - I spoke twice with CS and they asked for pictures, which I sent of the oil soaked box, etc. Then it did take a few days for them to respond back to my emails, but so far I have received a replacement of the oil (yeah!) and an email telling me that the 5 missing face masks are on the way. The last email informing me I would receive replacement face masks was sent on the 20th….so it has taken some time. I will post, of course, when the masks do arrive and hopefully this will be resolved soon. At this point I am still game to spend $50 for the next seasonal box (and review it here for you) but not upgrade and subscribe for a year up front. Being a business owner I know mistakes happen, it’s part of the equation, but it’s how we handle these mistakes that makes all the difference in the world. So we shall see how they do on the next round.
What do you think? Have you had a similar experience with this brand? I’d love to hear your take on it or your thoughts. Until then... Hey! I really was thinking about editing my subscription boxes. On the one hand I love them! Its like Christmas every time they arrive! New, fun goodies and surprises! But on the other, this is more stuff I may or may not use and sometimes I feel that for the price you don't get much more than samples, you know? It's such a dilemma! So how come I'm opening a new box then? Well, as I was having this very conversation with a buddy of mine, she recommended this box. "If you're going to cut down on boxes, I'd keep this one." Keep it? I never even tried it! She looked at me like I was living under a rock! Turns out this company is so much more than just a beautiful subscription box. I went over to their website and ordered after reading and seeing all the value you get for the money. Did I mention everything is FULL SIZE no samples here! Use my link to save and Get your box! (We both win!) Here's the details: They ship out seasonal. so 4 boxes a year. But you can get Editors Boxes (like I did) anytime - plus they also have sales and add ons and oh so much more! This is what was in the Editors Box: You also fill out info about yourself so that get products designed for you. Which seems like such a good idea, rather than making it a "one size fits all" box. Grab your box here and join the Fab Fit Family! The details: Boxes cost $49.99 (including shipping) Use the link to save on your box. They are very highly rated and loved by so many people! They do ship to Canada and Puerto Rico! But Shipping is an additional $8 for seasonal boxes and $10 for shop orders for all Canada, Puerto Rico, Alaska, and Hawaii orders. I'm going to try the regular seasonal box before I pass judgement. I liked most of the items but that mask valued at $36 is crazy! I actually wrote them to see if it was a mistake. No answer yet... but I will keep you updated. What do you think?
Have you tried this box before? Was it worth the $$? I'd love to hear about your experience! *This Post is continued here* Catch your later! Is it just me, or is August just flying by? I feel like between all the traveling, working, and repacking, that it’s been hard to catch up. And sadly I have to admit I started this post way back in MAY! WTF?! But May was a busy month....I had company, a large project to get off the ground at work, new challenges with xxxx (I will share that one later) and then all the normal stuff. But I did manage to read a few new good books! Reading helps me relax, so no matter how busy I am, I usually can carve out time to read. The Beauty Myth - It was recommended to me from a British mate. It's a smart book we all should read, but WARNING - it will make you angry. Why? There are so many subtle ways we are culturally defined as women! I feel after having lived not only in the US but in Europe that it is much worse in America and in particular in the southern United States. So yeah, it's a smart book. It is well written and it will make you stop and think about what we consider as "normal" espically how women are judged and defined by their beauty. And honestly this book hooked me from the beginning, with the fascinating topic of "How images of beauty are used against women." Heady stuff that will piss you off and make you question what you accept about yourself or your daughters/sisters/girlfriends. Also just how does religion play into this? Honestly I never considered religion in the whole beauty debacle so that was an eye opening theory too. So it is worth a read? Yes. Actually, I dare you to read it- You might think, "Oh it's cultural," but honestly I think it's a global attitude about women. Yes, of course it is much worse in some countries, but even in more forward thinking countries it is totally crazy how women are compared, judged and held to crazy standard while men are not. But its even more unbelievable that we as intelligent, educated women accept it! So yes, I think you should read this book and then tell me what you think. Do you think it's accurate where you live? Let's discuss. I want to hear your take on it. I'm off now to work on more long, over due posts!
See you at the bookstore~ Happy Summer! I hope yours is going well. It's warm here as summer shifts into high gear. Between work (which is good, thankfully,) and the heat I haven't really been doing much. Nothing exciting is happening, but you know I'm grateful for that, too. A few of you have written me about posting more often and asked for an update or if I was okay. How kind of you! What can I say? I'm just lazy, lol but thanks for asking, everything is good, actually really, really good. So to prove I am still alive here is a random summer day for me... I get up early and it's already hot. But it really is a much better 'heat' than Texas. Although it would be better to be in the south of France right now, but somehow we make do, lol. I love getting up early - most of the world is asleep and everything is quiet and peaceful. During this time I meditate, do yoga or Tai Chi and then go for a walk. It's too warm to run, unless I see a snake...then I run. #TrueStory I also take care of my modest garden in the morning before it gets mega warm. I find by keeping my phone turned off I get so much more done in the morning because you know one quick email equals an hour later and I might as well check Facebook.... lol and the morning is over. So that is my big secret for working so much and still staying sane - Stay off your phone until right before you go to work and take time to do the things you love. For me that means working with the plants, spending time outside and meditating. Plus not rushing around like a mad woman. I would rather get up earlier and have more time, then race out the door feeling frantic. But that's just me, some people love that panicked feeling and use it as motivation. For me it just ruins my entire day. After I have an hour or so outside I return home feeling centered and ready start the day. I seem to spend way too much time in meetings, both in person or via Skype. By the time I stop for a break it's really, really warm outside. But, yeah- I still usually have hot tea during the day, lol. Well, I do cook a bit. And then I convince myself its time to blog....but I just watch Kodi instead, lol Seems like May was over in a flash! Was it like that for you too? I didn't really blog that much in May. Work + Life = Me mostly not having it to give. #TrueStory But I did make an attempt, at least and you came back and read it again and again. I know because my numbers went up! Lol Below are the top, most clicked on posts for the month - if you missed any of them. *Warning* food heavy posts ahead, lol 1. What Are you Reading? (March Edition) - Hmm, Well I'm not sure I blogged any of what I was reading in April or May. Mini Vegan Food Diary (April/May) This was posted on May 24th and is mostly pictures - 30 in total, including 2 of me. Top 25 Travel Quotes This is from the Blog home page....Some of my favorite quotes about travel. 9. Vegan Beauty Box May 2nd post and also from the home page. This was a Vegancuts Beauty Box I ordered. 9 pictures and extra points because I set the box (and some of the products) on a few of the books I'm currently reading! But sadly no food in this one, I'm sure had it featured food it would have scored higher, lol. Thank you for reading my silly little blog and all the random randomness that is my life! See you at the airport! I have been subscribed to VeganCuts monthly Snack box for years, (see?) But this was my 1st Beauty Box.
I'm sat here listening to the rain drumming my windows and I'm happy as a clam. I'm diligently working on another road trip post, well I'm still sorting the pictures actually. I have an idea of what I want to share, but first I really need to clear some random pictures, so that brings us to this random post. How was your March, by the way? It's been an odd month for me. I was swamped with work after being in Iceland and NYC, had out of state company, went on several amazing road trips, bought more stuff for the new house and tried to 'will' spring forward so I could work in the garden. I haven't posted all that much this month, with only 12 posts in 28 days, but I have been taking photos. So let's explore the pictures I've found but not posted.... I did not blog about this months Vegan Cuts box. Not that it wasn't great, because it was, but I was tooo busy. Here are the pictures I took before we mowed through all the Vegan snack goodness. I've also been experimenting with more new vegan cooking this month. Refining the 'go to' Hummus recipe, making the best Kale Chips and I of course made stir fry for company. They loved it and the organic Sushi Rice stole the meal. If you follow me on SC then you know I was caught in a detour due to production work last week. It wasn't that bad, actually I was just grumpy because I had been working too much. (And I wanted to pick up fresh peppers and spices for dinner. It's always about food, isn't it?) People here remind me of the people in France when it comes to TV/Movies and actors. They pretty much "don't care" so there isn't a big rush of people flocking to watch the filming, which is cool, because the devour was bad enough, lol. Its surprising how much is filmed here, I thought Austin (Texas) was busy, but it's noting compared to New Mexico. The weather has slowly gotten warmer so I took advantage of the sunshine to repot plants and added some flowers to the patio. Okay next post should be a road trip update or full post...also new cruise in the works and a trip to Colorado! I'm so excited!
See you at the airport~ If you follow me, then you know I like to read. I would rather read than watch television. I would rather read than visit with people and I would rather read than go shopping. (Unless I'm shopping for books, lol) But the trick, for me, is finding free time to sit down and settle into a book. But I am so happy I have started a new routine at work + the 2 new, super amazing admins have been a great help! Honestly. you have no idea how excited I am.. well maybe you do. Who likes to work 80* hours a week? No one, thats who,, No One! But back to the books...To catch up on last months post on what I was reading Click Here. This week I'm reading a book on tidying up and astronomy. #WildWoman The Life-changing tidying up book is translated from Japanese. I think you need to have a good handle on the culture to understand it. I was having a conversation about this book with someone last week and they drove that point home with me. This lady was adamant that I "got" the book, which she thought was bat-shit crazy, by the way, because I understand the art of flower arranging and calligraphy, and have studied Feng Shui (I politely pointed out that was Chinese) and studies about Asia. Her not so polite point was that she didn't give a fuck. Not about organizing, not about energy or any of it. She felt she was too busy day- to-day to care if her laundry was sorted, much less folded with love. #Yikes! Because folks as we know, there are few people out there busier than I am.. *See 80 hour work week and every blog post I whine about how tired I am. #GoodTimes But enough of that, I could have blown through The Life-Changing book in a few hours, but I wanted to actually savior it and think about the philosophy behind the art of making everything sacred. Yes, even the act of cleaning. So I read a bit and pondered it as I went about my day. There are some big lessons about not doing what every magazine story promotes as gospel, for instance don't clean one room at a time or only throw out one item per day. Ms. Kondo has some tips that make sense about tackling BIG spaces by sorting multiple items. The point too of touching everything and only keeping the items that you love seems very logical to me. But we established I was bat-shit crazy years ago, lol. Now also I should point out my house is pretty tidy, okay my house is very tidy. I understand the rule of putting things back where they go immediately, but I did learn quite a bit from this book. And yes, I'm down with the philosophy of thanking everything. I have mine labeled and sorted. When I realized that they were all going to end up in a box I stopped printing them. Well I do print out photo books as keepsakes, but they only contain the best pictures and go on the bookshelf! And it makes more BOOKS! #YEAHBOOKS! Here is more on the poor astronomy book I'm not even talking about. It's actually a very good reference book. I learned a lot from it and will take it on the upcoming camping adventures. Now I have books to finish, before my organic bubble bath fizzles out. Where did I put that candle?
