Ready, Set, Jet!

Sometime back, (I think it was September??) I went on a plant buying tangent. I love plants, but being I travel so much it's tough to keep them alive. I do have a crew of nice people that help me take care of my house/yard and animals, but.... I love many different types of plants from Orchids to Succulents so it can be a challenge for people to tend each one on it's own schedule. That's why I stopped buying plants and cleared out my greenhouse in Texas. I have had plants on my balcony in Paris, (remember shopping for plants there? Where did I put that post?) And we had way too many plants in England, all of which I left when I moved. So I have held off on buying plants here, but I gave in and started collecting again, lol. #ItsAnIllness I always gravitate towards pretty plants when I'm out shopping, as you can see from my IG posts. I think it was early September. I bought a set of these plants for my bedroom, but they ended up sticking out from the wall too far and blocking my entrance into the vanity area. So one ended up in the living room. The first thing I do when I add a new plant to my collection is repot it. They take low light well, but cannot tolerate a dry soil. With almost no humidity, (Remember I now live in the desert) and also running the heating, it is very dry inside. I have to mist them daily, to keep them healthy and full. When they do dry out they tend get yellow or brown tips on the leave fronds. So they require a bit of maintenance, but they lend so much color to the house! I'm so glad I was able to get them and keep them alive. I still have minimal furniture in the house so the plants really make it more homey and warm. Meanwhile my veggie crop... I didn't grow all that much this last year. I was so disappointed that the raised beds were doused in Round Up and therefore unusable. The previous tenants didn't plant or want weeds so poison was their answer. Because of this my veggies had to go into pots on the patio. I really didn't raise the potatoes for a "crop" lol. I had a potato sprouting and thought I would just throw it in a flower pot. I chopped it up and planted the pieces. It made a lovely thick plant for my patio. The other plants including the herbs and baby succulents are wintering well inside. This is the Oregano I grew from seed last spring. It needs to be separated and it will probably make enough to share with the neighbors, lol. I love having fresh herbs all year long. With so many babies I started to get creative. (I also ran out of pots, lol) I planted a small fairy garden with the tiny succulents I rescued from the "dead shelf" of Lowe's. I'm not kidding when I said I was on a buying binge. #Obsession I bought the tiny mushroom houses on Ebay for less than .50 for both, lol. Because the fairy's need houses right? I think it made it look so cute and the plants do seem to be happy. I actually have plants in every room of the house now. But I have slowed down on buying since it is winter. I plan on planting more veggies next spring after I return from Canada. In the meantime I intend to enjoy the plants here. Catch you later~
My Fit Fab Fun Winter Box arrived today! I was surprised that the add ons also shipped with it. From what I had read on line it sometimes takes weeks for them to ship (and to not worry, they are in transit) so I was pleasantly surprised. I will review the box fully in a day or two, but I can tell you now that I was happy with it. Catch you later!
It's that time once again...
I don't know about you, but I always try (note I said try) to start my shopping months prior to the holiday season. But it doesn't always work out. Mainly because I am super bad at just giving gifts to people as soon as I see them. Shop in October? Give them gifts in October. #Fail And honestly its like Christmas most days at my house anyway....I see something I like and I buy it. (My shopping philosophy in a nutshell, lol.) So I do try and pick up stuff all year long. But as I said, I buy a gift early and end up giving it early, then I feel weird not giving them ANOTHER gift in December...so its best for me to wait to shop, lol. But when you can find such awesome gifts for under $35USD why not make everyday Christmas, right? lol So here are a few things that I think would make excellent extra gifts for the 'hard to buy for' travelers on your list. These can all be found on Amazon and are affiliate links. But you know, I only share items I personally like with you. So can you get a nice gift for under $35 and still be ethical? Vegan? Is it good Quality? Sure! Take a look~
This is something most of us need. AND IT IS VEGAN! So not only will it be stylish, it's also good for our animal friends. And at under $25USD how can you go wrong? I actually have gone through a LOT of jewelry cases, looking for a well made one, one that's not too bulky or too large. This one is quite nice and will keep your gems and jewels organized.
Another thoughtful gift for a hard to buy for person...
This is a really nice yoga mat and perfect for taking on your next trip! Compact, but well made.
They will get years of use and think about you every time they do downward facing dog, WIN! This one is priced at $30.39 (Mine is shipping Monday, lol)
Unisex, vegan backpack! Its Approx. Dimensions are 32cm L x 34cm H x 15cmD/12.6 x 13.4 x 5.9 inches. It features good quality hardware, making it easy to zip, rust proof, and elegant. While it's not huge, it will hold your 13" Mac Book in style! At only $19.99 you should buy it in multiple colors! It would be great to use for shopping, or while out sightseeing and leave the heavy duty backpack for hiking. I ordered 3 so far as gifts.
You know I have to have a book or journal on my list!
I really like the concept of combining daily gratitude with a 365 day planner. You can log your travel info and have space to list your adventures and all that you are grateful for each day. In fact having the prompt to write something every day you are grateful for makes for a mindful and satisfying life. I like this planner a lot. (Mainly because I wrote it, lol)
There is room to doodle, write your thoughts and a few mandalas to color. Check it out here:
This one features a world map and each state in the United States is scratch-able So it's easy to see where you've been and where you need to go next. It's a nice gift for the travel enthusiast or adventurer. This one is larger coming in at 33¼ x 23½ inches and only costs $28.49 Another WIN!
So I hope this gave your some inspiration and ideas for the people on your list. If you take your time and really look there are so many awesome gifts out there! What are the most wanted gifts for your family? I'm working on another list of what I bought my son and Secret Santa at work. And I will be posting pictures of my backpack haul Tuesday-so stay tuned for that. See you at the airport- PS: I do make a (very) small commission off the links. This helps cover the cost of this blog and my travel addiction. It's almost Halloween! Are you ready? Vegans Cuts offered an additional box this year for Halloween, besides the regular monthly box, so I had to grab it! It arrived very quickly after I placed the order and it was jam packed with great, organic snacks! I really think there was EVEN MORE snacks in this box than the normal monthly one. There were a lot of favorites included too. So it was a nice treat - especially if you are trying to avoid all the sugary Halloween candy from the supermarket. So my son took 90% of this, but it's okay- my Halloween Treats were in the form of Masks this time! Read about the October Horror Masks HERE if you haven't already. And Happy Almost Halloween!
This is a Fab Fit Fun Update See original post here. After I had problems with my 1st box I went to the site and talked to CS, on the 11th. In the process I saw so, so, so many horrible reviews! Mostly about customers service (OMG) and ship time/response time. And also the reviews read like if you are in Canada you are screwed. (Sorry friends in Canada) I actually spoke to one of my (non Canadian) GF ’s about the company….she has been getting the boxes for over a year and can’t say enough good about them. She assured me they would fix the problems and I should just sit tight. She also loves the “add ons” and other perks they offer. I told her I would wait and see how this worked out before I upgraded. #ImLikeThat So fast forward - I spoke twice with CS and they asked for pictures, which I sent of the oil soaked box, etc. Then it did take a few days for them to respond back to my emails, but so far I have received a replacement of the oil (yeah!) and an email telling me that the 5 missing face masks are on the way. The last email informing me I would receive replacement face masks was sent on the 20th….so it has taken some time. I will post, of course, when the masks do arrive and hopefully this will be resolved soon. At this point I am still game to spend $50 for the next seasonal box (and review it here for you) but not upgrade and subscribe for a year up front. Being a business owner I know mistakes happen, it’s part of the equation, but it’s how we handle these mistakes that makes all the difference in the world. So we shall see how they do on the next round.
What do you think? Have you had a similar experience with this brand? I’d love to hear your take on it or your thoughts. Until then...
Yes, Pumpkin shopping is a real thing!
Okay, it may just be an excuse to get out before true winter begins... But when isn't shopping always a good idea? All the autumn decorations (and food) are worth experiencing.
I admit that's a BIG box. But you don't want to run out of coffee! #54Cups!
And yes, I might be missing Texas just a bit.
You can try the coffee for yourself here: Hey! I really was thinking about editing my subscription boxes. On the one hand I love them! Its like Christmas every time they arrive! New, fun goodies and surprises! But on the other, this is more stuff I may or may not use and sometimes I feel that for the price you don't get much more than samples, you know? It's such a dilemma! So how come I'm opening a new box then? Well, as I was having this very conversation with a buddy of mine, she recommended this box. "If you're going to cut down on boxes, I'd keep this one." Keep it? I never even tried it! She looked at me like I was living under a rock! Turns out this company is so much more than just a beautiful subscription box. I went over to their website and ordered after reading and seeing all the value you get for the money. Did I mention everything is FULL SIZE no samples here! Use my link to save and Get your box! (We both win!) Here's the details: They ship out seasonal. so 4 boxes a year. But you can get Editors Boxes (like I did) anytime - plus they also have sales and add ons and oh so much more! This is what was in the Editors Box: You also fill out info about yourself so that get products designed for you. Which seems like such a good idea, rather than making it a "one size fits all" box. Grab your box here and join the Fab Fit Family! The details: Boxes cost $49.99 (including shipping) Use the link to save on your box. They are very highly rated and loved by so many people! They do ship to Canada and Puerto Rico! But Shipping is an additional $8 for seasonal boxes and $10 for shop orders for all Canada, Puerto Rico, Alaska, and Hawaii orders. I'm going to try the regular seasonal box before I pass judgement. I liked most of the items but that mask valued at $36 is crazy! I actually wrote them to see if it was a mistake. No answer yet... but I will keep you updated. What do you think?
Have you tried this box before? Was it worth the $$? I'd love to hear about your experience! *This Post is continued here* Catch your later!
Okay only a little behind on this one!
When it comes to shopping I admit some months I shop more than others. September was a busy month between work, traveling and all the normal day to day stuff. Autumn usually is, though as we begin preparing for winter and everyone starts thinking about the holidays. Somehow, I managed to finish up some personal projects, (yeah me!) and try some new products and I still found time to read! #WIN I have another 20 books I need to write a review on.... Meanwhile, here are a few of my loves for September: (Note: I do have affiliate links, for some of the products. But I bought and LOVE all of these items or I would not waste my time talking about them.)
I was actually killing time surfing Youtube when I saw this shelf. There are quite a few out there, so I looked carefully at a number of the top sellers before choosing this one. It expands to fit my oversized tub, and the price was right. Now I can extend my already longish bath time, plus have room for a book and a drink! Another win!
(I will insert a link if you want to check them out.)
While we are talking about bath time, lol...Working so much I often just want to soak in the tub, then fall into bed! So I upped my bath tub game with Galaxy bath bombs.
I'm starting to think I was bath obsessed in September, WTF? And my obsession with Acure products continues too! I hoarded up a ton of Acure products for the win! I so love this vegan brand! I have been so happy with their facial scrub and body wash that I added Shampoo/conditioner, body lotion and cleansing towelettes to my collection. I also bought more body wash to stock the guest bath.
Okay enough bath stuff....I am still obsessed withCliff bars and packed my briefcase full before heading to the airport, like always. One of my die hard vegan friends told me that not every flavor is vegan. Hmmmm, when I did a search it looks like ALL the US flavors are. So I'm going to keep enjoying these delicious snack bars.
I have so many old posts to clear that I'm considering either: A. A Super long 200+ picture post, B. Marathon multiple post a day blogging, or C. Forgetting all the old stuff and just starting new from here. #FML
Do you have any suggestions? I should have been writing all week long, instead I'm unpacking the Halloween decorations and getting into the spirit of Pumpkin Spice EVERYTHING! lol
Even though I should post another 3,000 entries tonight, I'm going to enjoy this wonderful rainy weather with a good book and nice cup of tea. (In the bath tub, but you already guessed that!)
Catch you later! Yep, in hindsight I probably should have picked July to go raw for the month....#FML I always forget that people like to celebrate birthdays with food....lots and lots of cooked, sugary, sweet foods. (To read about my August Raw adventure so far click here.) And before you say it. "Yes, most places have salad, but.." But it seems that people tend to get upset when you don't eat cake or something to celebrate. I swear people are just too obsessed with food. Yes, that was me being ironic since lately all I have been posting is food pictures. (What is happening to me?!?) But don't get me wrong, I appreciate everyone taking the time out to go party with me. One day I will share the picture of my new, southwest krewe. In other birthday/non food related news... I have had a wonderful birthday. Thank you all!
Better Late Than Never... *Warning! Random Picture Post* I started this in June (2017) I have no idea why I didn't finish... So let's start from the beginning... This was the Vegancuts monthly snack box. It was GREAT, per usual. Check out all these healthy treats! So I searched my phone for other random June pictures... So that was my June, more or less.
Now on to the next 300 post in the queue! Catch you later- |
