Hey, How are things? I know......It seems like the world continues to get more and more chaotic every single day. I have gone back to walking (well, serious walking...not just to the 'fridge.) And have been having a lot of fun with the Pacer Community. I just finished my second competition and picked up another medal. Finished Barcelona and now on to the next challenge. If you are struggling now why not consider joining one of the online walking communities (you can even use a treadmill) but its nice to interact with people and have some accountably. It's never to late to begin...
Now I need to find my running shoes. Speak soon! You are still allowed to dream about your next magical destination...
Hello Travel Family,
I hope you are safe and sound where ever you are in the world. During a time where it's important to stay home and not travel, we can still get inspired and plan for future adventures! Where are you planning on visiting next? I really wanted to revisit Italy this year. Hopefully it can still happen later in the year on in 2021. What's on your bucket list? Speak soon~ Everyone should experience Mardi Gras at least once in NOLA. #TrueFact (And if you like it then over and over.) I didn't go this year nor the year before. My friends from New Orleans usually come to visit me. Because to be honest most of the locals leave the French Quarter during Mardi Gras and let the tourist run wild. And wild it becomes... I prefer now to only celebrate Halloween in NOLA or go for Jazz Fest. I'm thinking about a trip in early December, which is a lovely time to go as well. I went in 2013 and was ill, so it wasn't that much fun. #FML :( But if you can't go to NOLA, bring it to you! I don't decorate for Valentines Day - instead we pull out the creepy dolls and crazy stuff I have bought over the years in NOLA. Decorating aside, I really want to spend one Carnival in Venice. Can you imagine? Happy Fat Tuesday, where ever in the world you are!
Rome is calling me back today. It's been on my mind all day long. It's all I can do not to check airfare/book a trip today. Do you ever have that? Like suddenly you MUST go somewhere?? It did get me thinking, "How long since I was last in Rome?" I think it's been close to ten years. TEN FREAKING YEARS? How is that even possible?? I searched the blog and found some old, excuse the quality, pict from my most recent trip to Italy. I belive we spent a week in Rome. I'm pretty sure we also visited Naples and Pompeii on that adventure. That last trip was amazing! And honestly it was a life changer...but why haven't I returned? I think life just got in the way. Work, men, school, more men, more work, buying another house, more work, moving to France, moving to Texas, more men, moving again, more work, etc. you know the drill. And here we are 10 years later! OMG! Hmmm, I have no clue as to what brought this on. There are so many new places I want to visit, it's hard to find time to return to other countries. I don't count changing planes in a country as a "visit". Do you have bucket list of places you want to see? I have a few trips planned and few in the works for next year. I guess this is my nudge to add Italy to that ever growing list. It looks like 2018 is going to be a busy travel year! See you in Italy?? People often ask me about Fashion trends and clothing when I travel. To be honest it can be difficult, especially when you are covering several different countries, locations and venues. What I wear in London I don't usually wear in the Pyrenees. What I wear in Monaco I don't wear in Inverness. I like cities and I also like to be in nature so I have to pack accordingly and have a plan. I also dislike lugging too many oversized bags. The best thing is always pack light and purchase what you need while on the road. This makes sure your gown matches the event in style (or at least in theory.) Last Holiday season I was invited to the Opera in London. The first thing I did was google what women wear to the opera in London. Then began to assemble a wearable outfit. (Always take one GREAT Pair of comfortable High Heels with you when you travel, if you want to be on point.) And as you know I always bring along too many shoes. #MyWeakness I like to blend in and not look like tourist so I also google places in advance. There are many places I wish to visit, and knowing what to wear in advance is a big help. The worst is to show up at an event and being OVER DRESSED or UNDRESSED. #FML But for the rest of this month I'm in Texas and enjoying comfy clothes and messy hair. #Score! See you at the airport-
#Msoneworld4me #Fashion #Random #Life Hi! How are things? As I said before 2 of my friends are heading to Italy this year and we are attempting to coordinate our trips. I dug around snapfish and found a few of my old pictures from my last trip and emailed to them. Thought I'd post the few pictures I found here as well. I really am sad that I lost so many pictures. (But I guess its just means I need to go back!) :) These were taken on a full day tour of Pompeii. I think we were in Rome approx. a week. One full day was spent in Pompeii & it was AMAZING! We also took a day for Naples and the Vatican. These were taken over 5 years ago, sorry picture quality is so crappy. Cameras have improved since then and believe it or not my picture taking skills too. LOL What's your fav part of Italy? We are trying to coordinate this trip for a month to see most of the sights, but I think we are still going to miss a lot. Do you have any suggestions? It was an amazing trip. I am excited to return and see more. Catch you later-
Flying into Florida. (I took this, btw)
Hey, You know I am not one of those cool travelers that just wake up, showers and end up in Asia or has someone send them off to NYC via LA. As I said before I really do NOT like to Travel...I like to ARRIVE. Meaning I like to be there, but actually traveling (for the most part, I aint gonna lie) is torture. So, you’re thinking why on earth do I do it? I don't let the hassles and discomfort STOP me from exploring. But as I said in the beginning I don't consider myself the "cool traveler" who mysteriously ends up traveling the world with a backpack, $2.00 & ends up partying with royalty. Well I had some adventures with some interesting people, but that’s another story boys and girls. This rambling post is about REAL PEOPLE doing REAL travel. I was/am following someone on Instagram that is biking across Italy. I thought how cool & how daring, woman ALONE doing this..wow. :0
Her pictures were good, a little too good actually. (I’ve been there and done close to that- I walked/drove around) So as I was browsing the other day saw a post showing the van (with her name, picture and website on it) that followed her through the Italian countryside. It looked like it had a bathroom & prob. hair & makeup people."WOW you go girl", but that is not authentic travel, now is it? The van was nicer than most peoples house in some of the villages in southern Italy she biked by (but no judgment). All I’m saying is I’m not that kind of traveler. I take the train, mostly. I have a budget, ALWAYS. I have to stretch my travel money, but I also want to be somewhere nice, comfortable & safe. I travel because I must. I love to read about places and then I WANT TO SEE THEM FOR MYSELF. I always wanted to see Pompeii. Watching it on the Discovery Channel was cool and all, but really? Stop showing the same thing over and over. The place is Fucking HUGE. We walked ALL DAY. It was a 7 hour walking tour! And you know what else? The guide did it in a lovely dress & channel mid size pumps. NOW that's ITALY! Ok, rant over.. Thank you for reading this & coming back day after day. I do try to "keep it real" and tell the truth about travel as a average person experiences it.. (FlyingSouthwest is like being on a Jerry Springer show, really.) :X Catch you later- |
