Hi, So I am off my "book fast" and currently building my TBR stack. I enjoy spending time browsing online and in person at used bookstore because you never know what you will stumble upon. Some authors might argue that books shouldn’t be sold in this manner since they don’t earn royalties on used books. I understand that, but as is the case with libraries, used book stores are a great place to discover authors and their work and add to your collection. If you are like me, once I find an author I like I usually purchase the entire catalogue. Today's treasure were:
Another reason I'm drawn to used books is they offer a sense of their personal history. “To Jim, with love, Margret” makes me wonder about Jim and Margret and about their connection to the book. How did the book find it's way here? How many hands did it pass through? I rarely see a book with lots of highlighting and comments in the margins. Most often they maybe a bit worn from repeated reading, but I actually take that as a positive sign. So other than book shopping it was a normal day of work and usual errands. I plan on taking next weekend off to read and finish the details of my upcoming December trip. After much research I have narrowed it down to two lovely guests houses for my next trip. This weekend I plan on booking one as I map out the rest of the adventure. This jaunt has a lot of moving pieces as I have a multiple state expeditions planned and have to schedule in work around sightseeing. I know by December I will be ready for some warm weather, but I'm happy now to pull out the boots and jackets. The fall weather is so nice! I dug out warmer leggings and last years boots earlier in the month and was pleased to see the boots are now a bit big on my legs. #ThankYouYoga While I'm still not where I want to be, the scales has finally started tipping in the right direction. Plus I feel so much better as well. Between yoga, walking more and eating better I feel much more like myself again. Now I'm ready to go adventure! Just as I was ending this entry, the post arrived with MORE BOOKS! See you at the airport (or a used book store)~ Hey, How are things? I had been having a serious coffee craving for the last few hours. I just gave up and made a pot (old school, not Keurig this time.) Since I'm up drinking coffee and listening to the rain. might as well share my random ass day with you. (No need to thank me :D) I have been having problems with my truck just randomly not starting. Super crazy, its works fine for days and then will suddenly quit. I called the shop and have an appointment to have it looked at, the earliest I could get in was next week. Seem everyone is having auto problems too? IDK...A friend came over and looked at it this afternoon, had battery checked (it was fine as I just replaced last Dec) and I found a loose wire to the battery. The ground wire actually. He was amazed that I found out what was wrong with it. I actually said, "I'm not a fucking idiot." * _____ * Translate = just because I'm a woman doesn't mean I have no skills. Yes, I can swoon over a nice pair of shoes, but I still have a functioning brain. WTF?! He was kind to help me with it, but STILL! Why do men have to act so crazy? IDK... I will stop bitching now. Quite a storm has blown in...Thunder and heavy rain. Glad I got the errands completed this afternoon. I was sorting through the shoe closet this morning and found a brand new pair of heels. Somehow I had completely forgotten about these darlings. It was like #Christmas LOL I admit I may need a 12 step program for my shoe problem, but who can resist when there are so many cute styles and options? (But I still have a brain. Sorry/Not Sorry said I was done bitching, right?) I happily wore these to work today. Glad I made it home before the rains started. Although I do keep a pair of flats and a pair of trainers in the truck. #YouNeverKnow when you might have a shoe emergency, LOL I left work a little after 7:30 pm and stopped to top off my tank. This was the view as I was pumping petrol. Stupid Wires in the way. Reminds me of Only Lovers Left Alive..."Stupid Zombies ruining everything! And don't get me started on Tesla! " (You have to see the movie, lol) and know that I talk about Tesla and his lost tech all the time. Too funny! Catch you later-
A Little LootHi ya~ So some of my online shopping loot has finally started drifting in. So far, so good...more or less. I found that 1 shirt was too big (the light blue one pictured on the right.) I will give it away and the other looks like "scrubs" to me. Not the cut, but the material. But the shoes fit and the rest will work. As you can see from the boxes all this was from Ideeli. There was a good sale and free shipping for a month, so I didn't spend much at all. #Ideeli rocks!
The other package was Amazon and it was a book for a friend. Ok, I'm late for an appointment --so more later. It was a short week or maybe a long week, depending on your point of view. I was out till Wed. (Working 1/2days) which are still really long for me. :X But I am healing nicely from the oral surgery, thank you! :) No more meds! And back to exercise! Next week or so I will do a detox to get the old medication out of my system. :X So glad to be feeling better! I rocked my new Spike Doll House Shoes to celebrate my recovery. (OK I would have worn them this week anyway, but...Its a reason.) I love these shoes! Really- Yes, I scrubbed the top of my feet trying to get my Paris bag in the shot. Ignore the redness, please. I banned myself from online shopping while taking meds. As soon as I stopped I booked a transatlantic cruise for 2014! WooHoo! I did the Google thing. (I feel like MoonMoon when it comes to google.) |
