Last week we began talking about ethical and sustainable travel as an approach to planning your next vacation. This type of travel that is grounded in the principles of responsible and conscious travel. Today we will look at another benefit of this type of travel, making a positive impact on the environment rather than a negative impact. Sustainable travel practices include reducing waste, conserving energy, and supporting local conservation efforts. Travelers can reduce their carbon footprint by choosing environmentally-friendly modes of transportation, such as walking, biking, or public transportation, and by staying in eco-friendly accommodations. Moreover, ethical and sustainable travel can also have a positive impact on the traveler's well-being. Research has shown that travel can have many psychological and emotional benefits, including reducing stress, increasing creativity, and boosting happiness. Ethical travel can enhance these benefits by providing travelers with a sense of purpose and meaning, and by creating opportunities for personal growth and self-reflection. When planning a trip, it is important to consider the ethical and sustainability aspects of travel. Here are some tips for ethical and sustainable travel:
There are many destinations around the world that offer unique experiences for ethical and sustainable travel. What are your thoughts? Are the ethical and sustainability aspects of travel important to you? Let me know in the comment section below.

As travel becomes more accessible and affordable, more people are exploring different parts of the world, seeking new experiences and adventures. However, as much as travel can be exciting and fulfilling, it also has the potential to have negative impacts on the environment, local communities, and cultural heritage. Ethical and sustainable travel is an approach that seeks to minimize these negative impacts while maximizing the benefits of travel for both the traveler and the host community. In this blog post, we will explore the concept of ethical and sustainable travel and how it can help people and enrich their lives Ethical and sustainable travel is an approach that is grounded in the principles of responsible and conscious travel. It seeks to minimize the negative impacts of tourism on the environment, local communities, and cultural heritage, while maximizing the benefits of travel for both the traveler and the host community. Ethical travel is not just about being environmentally responsible, but also about respecting the culture, traditions, and beliefs of the local people. One of the benefits of ethical and sustainable travel is that it allows travelers to have a more meaningful and authentic experience. Rather than simply being a passive observer of the local culture, travelers are encouraged to engage with the local community, learn about their traditions and way of life, and contribute to their economy. This can be done through activities such as volunteering, homestays, and local tours. By doing so, travelers gain a deeper appreciation and understanding of the local culture, and the locals benefit from increased economic opportunities and cultural exchange. Over the next few months I will be talking more about this concept and sharing how this philosophy has made my trips much more meaningful.
Speak soon~ To stay is to exist and to travel is to live. That pretty much sums it up, doesn't it? I'm all about travel right now. It feels like I am waking from a long winter nap and am ready for adventure and new experiences. Are you feeling the same? What adventures do you have planned? See you on the ship!
I'm not sure how it's even possible, but this blog is 10 years old today. WTF?? How is that even possible?? It seems like only last year I took the plunge and leaped out there and bought this domain. Looking back, I've blogged about my adventures traveling in the USA, Europe, Iceland, Canada, Mexico and South America. I've written about trips planned, delayed and failed, as well as amazing adventures that were life changing. I've shared my cruises to the Caribbean, Europe and the Transatlantic journeys. I documented my switch from Vegetarian to Vegan, shared recipes, created book reviews and wrote about my day to day life. I've moved from Texas to the south of France, London, the Lake District and back to the USA and you have been with me. This blog has opened so many doors for me. I have written several best selling books that wouldn't have happened if I wasn't pushing myself to write here. It's also helped me to try new things, and be open to new experiences. I've gotten serious about Youtube and started sharing way more of everyday life. My world has grown as I've meet new people from all walks of life and become much more of a global citizen. Thank you so much for reading my posts, sharing your own stories and connecting with me. Your feedback, suggestions and insights have helped me so much. Your friendships mean the world to me and I treasure you. In the next part of this 10 year celebration I'm going to share some stats with you and take a trip down memory lane. (Reading the old posts used to make me cringe now I am just nostalgic!)
I can't wait to see what the next 10 years bring! Hey How Are You? It's still warm for December here. Perfect weather to spend the day with me as I run errands and spend some time visiting a new park. This was a pretty chill day. I did a few errands and then relaxed in a pretty park by the river.
Have a great weekend! Hey and Happy Sunday! I've been talking about my adventures in the State Park... BUT this one takes place in a Cemetery...watch it here: Follow the Youtube channel for weekly adventures!
Hey there! I hope you are enjoying the changing seasons? We are spending as much time outside as possible, fitting in activities before the weather turns off cold and wet. Plus, after the terrible summer heat it feels fantastic to be outside without melting! Last month I explored a Texas state park (watch Video here) and in late October I was excited to go back again and camp. For this trip we rented a rustic cabin inside the park. It included beds, mini fridge. microwave and water on a tap outside. It was a short walk to the bathrooms and because we went on a Wednesday we had the park almost to ourselves. Watch the video here: I think this was just what I needed. I've been feeling so overwhelmed with work and other projects that a nature break really reset my energy and creativity. But I returned home so inspired! I often forget how relaxing it is to be away from all our devices! We saw so many birds, deer and other wildlife and the weather was perfect!
Unfortunately, we didn't do as much as planned, but it was so great to be in nature and get away from everything. I can't wait to go back! See you at the airport! Hello Friends~ It's September and everything is changing. We packed up the car and said goodbye to the cottage on the Bay. It was a wonderful 5 weeks of resting, reading and lazing about, but now back to reality. #eek While it was mostly sunny every day for this leg of the trip, the weather began shifting because of the hurricane(s) and storms in the gulf. We drove back to central Texas with heavy rain and flooding predicted. No rain pictures because it wasn't safe. After a few more days in the hotel we started the next adventure. I will share more of it as the month goes on... but I want to thank each and everyone of you for stopping by and reading my silly little blog. I appreciate your kind words, private messages and friendship. I know this will be an AMAZING month!
