Look what happened now...
Ready, Set, Jet!
Hope your week is going good! The weather has been very good lately so I've been out exploring! I wanted to learn more about the Acequias (Irrigation ditches) that are in my area. Some of these ditches date back 400 years! The Spanish built these to irritate what is now souther Colorado to central New Mexico. Some have been redone and others look very much like they did when they were first built. I created a short video here if you want to check one out.
In an area where it almost NEVER rains seeing water flowing seems almost unbelievable. Besides all the history associated with the water ditches there are also politics as the state grows and changes. You can google if you want to know more, I don't feel qualified to weight in on it.
I have another out of state trip planned in two weeks so I need to get packing..
Hope you are well, warm and enjoying yourself. It finally decided to become winter here. So I've had spotty net and lots of cozy evening by the fire. I really enjoy the cold, especially if I don't have to go anywhere, lol.
We had company last month and I cooked liked a mad woman, I have started a 'Veganary Food" post which should be up by late July, LOL! No, really I have a few new recipes I want to share with you and cooking tips, but work has been so busy. Which, I am thankful for. But its keeping me very busy and then when I'm done I really don't feel like blowing. (Or doing much of anything.)
But with the travel restrictions easing up, it looks like we will be traveling again soon and I am so excited!
But in the meantime I'm going to enjoy winter here with my warm socks and hot tea.
But really, Brrr ❄️ ☕️ 📚
We have another snow storm expected next week.
So Spring will be late this year. I have the urge to go purchase 9,000 + plants but am holding off till I know my schedule. I hate the idea of purchasing a horde of plants and then leaving for a month.
Hope you are having a fantastic day!
Travel is such a bother right now, but luckily my trusty iPhone decided to unearth some memories today and found some lost footage of a visit to Inverness and Culloden. I made a very short video, enjoy!
Hello! I hope everyone is having a fantastic week.
With the weather still very mild here, (more an extension of Autumn instead of winter), we are taking full advantage of hiking and exploring.
I snuck out of work early (so yeah. my office is still only 20 steps from my bedroom.) But it was such a nice day! We went hiking, did a bit of shopping and had a nice meal out. #Heaven
So when we aren't on the trails, I'm trying new things. Here are a couple of cool finds for November:
We are LOVING Forbidden Rice!
Healthy, tasty and a great addition to any meal. It's pre-made so heat it up on the stove to in the microwave for a nice addition to your meal.
Grab it at Amazon before it sells out. HERE
And I am sooo late to the party on this next one!
Alpha Skin Care Renewal Body Lotion
It's sooo worth the hype!
All the beauty guru's talk about this lotion and for some reason I was put off trying it. But this month I broke down and tried it! WOW! I love it and it will become a stable in my war against aging.
It is affordable at under $20, goes on thick, but absorbs well and by the second use I could see a difference on my sun damaged skin. BIG WIN!
Okay, I still have about 30 books to review and a couple of new recipes to share...Stay tuned!
While in Texas, we made another detour to meet up with friends at Boerne City Lake Park in Boerne, Texas. (Find it: 21 Upper Cibolo Creek Rd, 78006) The lake is approximately 1 mile northwest of Boerne off of Upper Cibolo Creek Road. Their website is here.
The weather was perfect! We lazed around, had a picnic, and just relaxed. Because it was during the week, we had the place almost entirely to ourselves.
And then it was time to go because there was a Hurricane building in the Gulf, and the weather was getting unpredictable. I do miss the meet-ups with friends and lazy days spent outside, just chilling. (But not enough to move back, lol)
More about this month-long trip later.
Tropical Depression/Hurricane Nicholas snuck up on us. We were already on the road to Texas when it hit. But we were still over 100+ miles away from the Gulf Coast and managed to miss most of the rain. It was downgraded to a tropical depression this morning and is dragging itself slowly over southeast Texas, leaving thousands in the dark and dumping a foot of rain. #OMG!
While waiting for the storm to pass, we decided to stay north of the Gulf Coast and visited River Park in Boerne, Texas. We had a lovely picnic on the river and avoided most of the weather.
The river was up due to the rains, but it was a nice break. There was plenty of wildlife out enjoying the overcast skies, and I'm sure, avoiding the high winds and rain south of us..
If you need a break watch the video...
I'm counting the days down to vacation and spending as much time as I can outside.
I took these picture this week with my iPhone 12 Pro Max and must say it hasn't disappointed. I'm so ready to go on vacation and see how it does on random nature shots.
We were supposed to be in Greece this month, but between covid and the wildfires it wasn't meant to be. BUT there are many other places on my travel list that I can't wait to explore.
And I do truly believe nature is cheaper than therapy!
What do you think? Pretty decent pictures for a iPhone.
