A Trip to Glastonbury

I left the northwest of England (north of Manchester - see the map) and headed down to Glastonbury to fetch my friend from her retreat. The plan was to spend the night at a B & B, fetch her and then go over and see my oldest, dearest friends in England, (They live a bit south of Glastonbury), spend one night with them and take the train back home. 

I took a train most of the way down and then a bus. I was beat by the time I made I arrived. I cabbed to my B & B..which turned out to be only a couple of blocks away. LOL the charge was only 3 pounds sterling and the driver didn't even want to charge me that. But my phone was not cooperating, I was wet from being out in the rain and more than ready for a warm shower and bed, so it was MORE THAN worth 3 pounds to me. #Win

Setting off..

I was only spending 2 nights, but my the time I brought Mac, clothes, gifts for my OTHER friends I ended up with a lot of baggage.

One train was deserted.

The next one, not so much.

A bus ride and a bottle of water later I arrived!

Hello Glastonbury! Why have I never been here before??

It's most famous for its 5 day music fest. It was just over, maybe week before?

And for it spiritual and christian sites.

The Abbey

And the Famous Tor.

There are a lot of funky shops, cafes, book shops, and clothing stalls to visit too.

It was green and blooming in mid July for my visit.

A warm cup of tea was waiting for me at my B & B.

Not fancy, but affordable and close to the center of things.

The kitchen..

They made me a lovely #Vegan breakfast and I was off to explore before the meet up with my buddies.

The town is very colorful and have a hippie air that you don't find in other parts of England.

We actually met up here - later in the afternoon.

It was around 11:00 and I was ready for a cuppa. I sat outside and people watched for an hour.

Yumms!

A market was underway and was quite busy,

I walked around a bit more, just sight seeing.

Then off to pick her up and find my other friends.

Her meeting ran late and I was left to amuse myself- so I sat in the garden and took pictures, lol

I enjoyed the time in the sun, but could see the rain was approaching.

We walked back to town and met up with my other friends. After walking around looking for food, we went back to his place and ate again and visited most of the night!

I stayed in the Egyptian room. It is full of stuff he brought back from his travels to Egypt.

And funky things people think he needs in the room, lol!

And MORE BOOKS. I think he actually has more books in his lounge than we do in out library @ home. #AMAZING I just love book people!

We had a wonderful supper and a great visit. The next day he kindly drove us to the train station and we were off again. We returned to Penrith to visit and set up the next leg of our journey. We ended up making 3 trips to Scotland there are here, here and here. We also visited the Lakes and did some other side trips if you missed them. It was a very busy 3 weeks!
