This is another random and meaningless "roaming around small villages in France" post. I love walking around the small villages, you never know what you will see. Its just a slice of life, I didn't go to any attractions or anything like that. Just walked and looked at the buildings, the mountains and the plants. #Heaven Perfect weather. Pepper Pie from Bakery. #Yums Have a great weekend -

How are things? I hope all is well in your world. I am settling into the slower pace of life in France and very much enjoying the cooler weather of Autumn. France is one of my favorite places, (in all of the world), but it's been 3 years since my last visit. Work, life, money, etc they all seem to get in the way don't they? Well I knew that I wanted a change and began planning for this in 2012. This round I am staying as long as I can, well err I kinda moved here. I am very fortunate to have the ability to work online. My business in the states is holding its own right now and I am so so lucky to have wonderful people working with me. Now back to life in France... I love Paris, but it is so expensive! I am currently in the south west. Its pretty farm land, with old villages, castles and vineyards dotting the mostly unspoiled hills. Have a look at how clear the water is. As I said it's autumn here, so not too much is blooming, but on the other hand its not THAT cold either. The weather is really perfect! I have found 3 local bakeries, so far. The weather has mostly been sunny. I have odd hours holding Skype meetings in the states, but get out as often as I can. The people here are so nice and there is very little to no crime in this area. So its quite safe to explore alone. This week the clouds have rolled in and brought rain so I mostly explored a tea cup and my new books, lol Have a great weekend where ever you are!
What is this Most Magic Stuff?? It looks just like some sort of Fractual Art. There was no name plate or price anywhere. Hmmm, Could it be a hologram? Or some sort of "art" produce? Maybe. This was France after all. Slowly I moved closer to get a better look... And by look I mean I used my iPhone to snap a few quick shots and then moved along before anyone saw me photographing strange alien produce. I moved to a safer region of the market, filled with stuff I could ID, like Taco Sauce. Or as it is known in French circles: "Sauce Mexicaine" And Yes, I bought a jar. I still had to go to the Electronics store, Beauty salon, Bakery and it was beginning to look like rain. So I fasterly went to a outdoor cafe for Coffee and a minute to regroup. Or await the rain. I then talked myself out of all the other errands for the day. Went home and worked a bit. One of my Dayre readers was kind enough to tell me the Fractal Art veggies (Pictured above) is actually a type of cauliflower! Who knew they even existed?! I'm still not sure what planet they are grown on.. On the walk home I noticed the roses are bursting into bloom. One of the best parts of the rain is all the flowers are starting to bloom again. The air is crisp and the temps are little chilly at night. This must be what Fall is about.
I can't wait to see what October holds. Catch you later- Hi all, How are things? Looks like we made the weekend! I’ve been traveling so much lately I have to check the date on the computer and still am not sure with the time differences if it is even close correct to. (If it’s not the weekend where you are I apologize.) As you know, I don’t usually stay at hotels. I prefer to stay in holiday houses or vacation condos when I travel. Sadly the way this last trip worked out that really wasn’t possible, so in the last 3 weeks I have been in the Hyatt, on a ship for 13 days, (which counts as a hotel), a Eurohotel, another hotel in Barcelona and a Comfort/Quality Inn. I will review/post and spam you with pictures on all of them, one day. Really, but for now let me just say they were all different and cool in each hotels own unique way. Today's post is about the last hotel we stayed in. It is located in Perpignan, France. The Comfort Hotel Centre Del Mon. I picked it because it was located around the train station and it was affordable. We were only going to be staying one night, so I wasn’t expecting much. I have been to Perpignan, hmm maybe 4 times? I spent 10 days there in 2011, so I’ve seen a good amount of the city. Please to enjoy a map~ Perpignan is a old place, the settlement dates back to the Roman times, but the medieval town is believed to have been founded around the 10th century or so. It's sorta made famous by Salvador Dali (whom we all adore) - “Following a visit in 1963, the Spanish surrealist artist Salvador Dalí declared the city's railway station the centre of the Universe, saying that he always got his best ideas sitting in the waiting room. He followed that up some years later by declaring that the Iberian Peninsula rotated precisely at Perpignan station 132 million years ago – an event the artist invoked in his 1983 painting Topological Abduction of Europe – Homage to René Thom. Above the station is a monument in Dali's honor, and across the surface of one of the main platforms is painted, in big letters, «Perpignan centre du monde» (Translates to "Perpignan centre of the world").” From wiki Here is the wiki link if you want to read more about the town. The city has been working on modernizing the station and attempting to live up to the title. :D Here is my unsolicited opinion review of the hotel. I paid for the hotel and will stay there again. First off, if you have ever book hotels on line then you know the picture you see on the website of the hotel rooms is usually not the room you end up with. Usually what is pictured is a deluxe suite and you end up with a smaller, older room. So when I saw the pictures of this hotels rooms I truthfully thought the same. (See website here) But as I said it was only for 1 night, so I thought "Whatever, we can make do." The above picture was our room. Just like the picture shown on the website! Scattered around the room were these stencils. I love the different textures used through out the room. I was so tired from the day in Barcelona that I did not take photos until after I had showered and completely messed up the room. (It did look nice before I came in & threw my junk around.) White on white. Even TV was white. :o Love the fact that the Subway is next door. The hotel offers a breakfast, but we had to leave at 9:30 so no time to enjoy. Also a few feet behind the hotel was a bank with a lovely outside ATM for impacting money. Right there! No hunting all over town. Easy-peasy! Can you say PERFECT? The train station and the bus station are also beside the hotel. The hotel actually has its own entrance to the train station. So the locate was excellent for breezing in and picking up a train or bus to continue exploring southern France. And did I mention the helpful staff spoke excellent English too? Next was a 2 hour road trip to a new destination in France. But, thats another story for later.
I would definitely stay at this hotel again. It was so easy to get to and we didn't even have to take a cab! Plus the area was very clean (not what you think of around a train/bus station in America) with lots of cafes scattered around the hotel, besides Subway, lol. Perfect to pop in get a good nights sleep and head out again. Do check it out if you are in Perpignan. Must run now, more posts of the cruise coming soon, And eating in Barcelona, And sightseeing in the south of France- Hi All- This was taken a little while ago, leaving Barcelona, Spain crossing into France. We were going almost 200 mph 😱 and I used my iphone. (No edit of course). Random photos from along the way- Off to take a shower & sleep now. Another full day of travel ahead. More & better tomorrow, I promise! See you @ the train station- *Warning* Picture heavy post. To celebrate my completion of the MEGA BIG project at work we went out to eat & party. It was warm again so EVERYONE was out celebrating too. I know they must have been happy for me. Went here for Angelica's Birthday & it was hmm how to say? Lacking? The food was meh to ugh! So we thought we would give it another try. Apparently so did the rest of Texas...the wait was 45 minutes and it looked like it would be longer. So we passed on that.. Rudy's shares the parking lot with Carino's and it was full too. But like I say it warmed up from Friday's snow to Saturday sweater weather. So everyone was out again, I guess? Or it was some new holiday. The "take your screaming child out to eat day" but that mostly happens everyday. :o So ok, back to my story. We left Carino's and motored over to old reliable Olive Garden. It was super jammed and wait time was 45-50 minutes. So left there and I'm ready for tacos or grass or cardboard or ANYTHING. #Starved! Now stuffed and totally happy we were off to Gruene. Weather is getting colder, but still really nice. :D If you want the scoop on Gruene, (what it is and what there is do there). Click this post for my history lesson. We come here quite often actually, but do different things. It's approx an hour away from my house. My New Orleans buddies hate it. They say too touristy #Whatever We like it. It was a really nice evening. Gruene is really DARK, so my pictures NEVER turn out good there. (My excuse, ok?) But its a cool place to visit. I was just happy to be outta the office, to be honest. :x Today I'm gonna chill and read. Monday comes too quick, way too quick. I have a 8:30 am meeting & then a meeting with my insurance agent. Storm did some damage at my house. (OMG! Wait till you see those pictures) :O But is ok, no one was hurt and all can be fixed. Am just glad it wasn't worse. #LookOnBrightSide Anyway, hope you are having a great weekend and you get some time to relax too. Take care and talk soon! Hey! How are things? :D It was Monday and money was flying out the door, here. LOL I think since I am on a spending fast every good deal in the history of good deals is happening right now. #FAIL I’m on this money fast because I have a really bad case of WANDERLUST and need to go SOON! So please stop with all the great deals already, k? I have enough $$$ flying out the door just on the regular everyday stuff. At least the weather is still nice. I drove to the next town over to buy supplies and pick up some food. This was about mid-day and there wasn't a cloud in the sky. (No edit on this picture, the sky color was really pretty!) Grass is golden from the recent freeze, not so pretty. :( And I stayed strong and didn't shovel any into the cart! #Determined + I do have a shipment from Keurig arriving any day. They had a sale, of course... They always laugh at me buying so much olive oil when we shop together. This is WHY! Look how expensive olive oil is in the states! To be honest I am sure its much cheaper in Italy too, but I usually spend my $$$ on shoes instead. #ImJustbeingTruthful :o And You may recall I was ranting over the fact the Valentine’s Day crap was already out? Well look what I just saw- Easter is the only time in (Texas anyway) you can purchase Cadbury anything. And that’s also why I buy so much while in the UK when I visit! #MyStrangeGuideToShopping by country, lol
These eggs used to be .25 each, then went to .33 then up to .50 now .68! Soon they will be $1.00US for one small egg! Crazy! And No, I didn't purchase any. Why? because I hope to be buying some in the UK soon! Now I'm off to the post to see if my Keurig order arrived. Catch you later- Someone sent this to me. Credit to unknown creator (wasn't me) I'm sure it came from Tumblr where all good things start. 💞 Anyway, they sent it to me because they know I do dream about Paris & have for a very long time. I even dream about Paris when I'm in Paris #Inception throw back, lol but it's all good 😉 because I will be going back soon. ✈ What cities have captured your heart & dreams? Did you still love them after going there? See you at the airport- 💋 Yes, I said NEW ORLEANS, as in NOLA. I sent it to one of buddies in NOLA & thought I would share with you. Here is the link to find out more. http://www.mydestination.com/bordeaux/events/73 Bordeaux is a LOVELY place & people are super, extra nice. And now you don't have to travel to New Orleans to hear great music, it's coming to you! 🎶🎶 (thoughtful or what?) While in Bordeaux please go to the galleries & support the local artist (some of the best up & coming younger artists are there too,) And be prepared to have a wonderful time. See you at the airport ✈ |
